This used to be an incredibly allergy friendly establishment. We recently stayed here and it is not longer the case. Buffet only. Chef couldn’t not tell us what was in the sauces for the meats. The burger shop in the pool area does not have gluten free buns nor did the people working even know what gluten was. Very disappointing. Plan to eat elsewhere if you go to Great Wolf and have any kind of allergy.
We went last February 2022 and the breakfast was buffet style and dinners were like a regular restaurant. They had excellent gluten free buns and a dedicated fryer. We went again December 2022 and breakfast was the same but dinner was also buffet style. It was horrible. No one knew what was gluten free except for the obvious things (not the pasta or fried chicken). One person would tell us something was gluten free and the next person would say it wasn't and vice versa. At least for breakfast you can order gluten free pancakes as well. For dinner it's basically a shot in the dark if it's safe or not. They do still have the gluten free pizza which is fine, but unless all you want to eat pizza for every meal other than breakfast, the food situation is not great. Major downgrade from when we went last time which is pretty disappointing.
To get the gluten free food, you have to go to the restaurant, not Buckets Incredible Craveables. The restaurant only serves pizza during lunch, but they have a gluten free crust. They don’t serve dinner until 5pm and that’s when you can get the gluten free buns and fries, just so you’re all aware!
The head chef will come out and talk to you about all risks. The staff was super knowledgeable about what we could eat and wasn’t sure about 1 item and went back and asked the kitchen before putting in the order. Great service!
I ordered a GF cheeseburger with caramelized onions, salad and fries. They have a separate fryer and cooking spot for all GF meals. The bun did have poppy seeds and sesame seeds on it, just FYI.
The staff is very well trained about food allergies. I had a fried chicken sandwich and French fries. My meal was prepared in a dedicated space and a dedicated fryer. My meal was delivered to me by the manager, not our waiter. The manager checked with me half way through the meal to make sure everything was ok. This place was top notch. Worry free dining! No side effects! I’ll be back!
I can’t speak for all restaurants here but at Hungry as a Wolf and Buckets the staff and food were amazing and knowledgeable. Buckets have a gluten free bun and separate fryer for fries. They put my food on a separate tray than my party as well but wasn’t marked.
Hungry as a Wolf also have a gluten free crust pizza that is pretty expensive considering the size but they assured me they have a separate space in the kitchen where they prepare and make the pizza.
I did not get sick over the few day so at least some of what they said must have been true.
Not many gluten free options. Timbers only had pasta. Fireside has more options but my son ended up eating pasta for both meals. Couldn’t find any breakfast options except buffet again at Timbers and the buffet is pricing for the small amount my family eats and very limited options.
Be very careful! I talked to the chef at Fireside and was offered many options. They do have dedicated fryers but safety and communication is lacking. My food came out with fried tortilla strips which the chef told me to remove due to cross contamination. I sent it back and didn’t trust dinner. “Bonus?” I didn’t get sick from the fire cracker shrimp appetizer.
So many options for celiac’s.
DEDICATED FRYERS !!!!!
Had a few restaurant options in the hotel.
Had a gluten free pizza at the concession one day. They come packaged and are made in a completely separate part of the kitchen with new fresh opened ingredients. There is one concession in the waterpark and one outside with the same option’s.
Had a lettuce wrap burger and fries another day. Everything gluten free is taken seriously and they have a long list of options. Also had gluten free chicken nuggets we didn’t get.
Ate in the fancier restaurant in the evening and the chef came out to help me choose an option. Ended up having the chicken, mashed potatoes and beans without gravy and it was so good. The dedicated fryers were at every restaurant in the hotel so always had lots of options and felt safe.
Will definitely go back !!!
