The zen bowls are GF and I have zero reactions every time I order that. The grilled sandwiches are a no-go since the grill is a shared surface and no foil used between the sandwiches. Service is kinda slow but do-able on an hour lunch.
GF bun was good, and they have a protocol for celiac food - just be sure to tell them you are celiac. Tons of kid friendly options. Counter serve, organic focus, and the mark up for gluten free food isn't very high at all. it's hard to find affordable, family-friendly GF dining, but this fits the bill.
not many options to choose from, but staff knowledgeable. Be sure to ask about specific menu items as I originally ordered the grilled salmon and later found out it was marinated in gluten-containing ingredients. Staff did work with me to correct my order before I was served. Original order was my own fault for not asking questions like I normally do. Staff said that they prepare GF foods in a safe place and "it is critical you tell me next time." 3 stars just because menu not labeled well for GF items and also not many choices.
This restaurant offers well prepared food of a very high quality, much of which happens to be vegetarian or vegan and/or gluten-free. For someone with gluten intolerance who eats vegetarian, this is an amazing place. There's a beautiful salad bar, some delicious gluten-free soups, and an array of sandwiches that can be prepared gluten-free upon request. I particularly recommend the minestrone, which is not offered nearly often enough--it is scrumptious. The only drawback is the price. If one orders a la carte, as vegetarians often do, it can be quite pricy. I am glad this restaurant is in Chico.
