The menu denotes gf items. One of the items was a pulled pork tostada. It is a salad on a tortilla. It has a good amount of pulled pork in it. The pork was tender and a little fatty. The salad very soggy and kind of warm . The beans were buried at the bottom of the bowl. I ate it but I didn’t really enjoy it.
Another gf item is deviled eggs. These are pretty tasty with a good amount of heat , but a tad too sweet.
Also the cornbread is gf. I thought it was too sweet. It was pretty crumbly too. But the pepper jelly that came with it was very tasty!
We ordered takeout, but called ahead to specify that our order was for celiacs who can't have gluten. Everything was delicious! The cornbread with honey butter and jalapeño jam was my favorite. Also ordered tri tip and ribs, both of which we enjoyed. My husband preferred the ribs. I preferred the tri tip. Plenty of safe sides: garlic mashed potatoes, dirty rice, cole slaw, and grits. Would definitely eat here again!
Gus’s BQQ has a great evening vibe for delicious food. Tried both the pulled pork, and the chicken and they were so good! Went there during a busy evening time and happy to report zero reaction. GF items are clearly marked on the menu, as always if you have an allergy be sure to inform your server.
The food here was so good! I got the cornbread to start and had the brick chicken with coleslaw and mashed potatoes on the side. I spoke to my server about my “allergy”/celiac disease and I think at first they did not understand the severity of the issue, so I asked about how the items would be prepped. Eventually the server made notes on the order communicating to the kitchen staff that my order needed to be made separately and with extra attention. I was a little nervous but I ended up being totally fine- I have celiac and I’m extremely sensitive to cross contamination but I didn’t have any issues here.
If you dine here, I would communicate clearly that you have a Gluten Allergy or celiac disease and ask how things will be prepared.
Overall, great experience and the food was really good! Definitely going back.
We had a fantastic time! The food was so good. The deviled eggs were super tasty. The ribs were great-as the sides. All the sauces are gluten free which was wonderful! We even tried the corn bread. Everything was great-including the server! Really appreciated their organization and how we saw all the staff working together. Can’t wait to go again! I didn’t get sick off of anything I ate!
My family went to Gus’s barbecue this weekend and I wanted to add a review. First, they were very clear that they could not guarantee cross contact would not happen in the kitchen so my eyes were open going in. Nima tested the coleslaw and garlic mashed potatoes, both were negative. Unfortunately, my brisket came up positive for gluten. It might be fine for people who are not Celiac or as sensitive, but I was not going to risk it even having seeing all of the positive reviews. Wanted to share for those concerned.
I felt comfortable here and didn’t get sick. I got the baby-back ribs, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, and the corn bread. All of them had a gf next to it. All of their sauces are gf. Heads up: The chips are in a shared fryer so even though it says gf, it’s not safe. Also the corn bread passed with a :) on a nima test.
I have Celiac and dairy allergy. The server explained my options and the food was amazing! I am so happy we found someplace I can eat! Highly recommended!
GF menu with many options. All meats and BBQ sauce are GF, and about half of the sides. Tho the fries are not GF.
They have a GF menu. Decent amount of options: a few appetizers, a few salads, a lot of BBQ options and sides for the main dish, and ice cream for dessert. I had the cobb salad with smoked turkey + bacon and it was really good! I wish they had more dessert options other than ice cream scoops and a sundae...but would still go back anytime.
