No more GF menu, and way less options than they used to have. Nothing is marked on the menu. The waitress said no red meat of any kind....wipes out most of the menu. Also no red chili or queso. They also used to have really great lettuce cup fajitas and those are gone. So disappointed and would not recommend for celiac since nothing is marked on the menu.
Great food, large portions. The only drawback is that anything beef (including the steak) is not gluten free.
There is no dedicated gluten free menu. However, the waiter did tell me, which items were available to be gluten free, meaning prepared separately. The food was delicious. I am from New Mexico and am a harsh critic of Spanish food!! I have atypical celiacs (neuro symptoms) and do not get the symptoms from contamination right away, so I cannot comment on that. Would go back again!!!!
Chips are in a separate fryer so gf. They no longer have a gluten free menu or information about gf on the menu. The server was pretty knowledgeable and happy to go back n forth to the kitchen to ask. However, it took a lot of back and forth and there was still almost an issue. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp the last two times. Server said grill was just for seafood so it was safe (all beef products not gf due to soy sauce in marinade). Both times they brought a butter dipping sauce but then realized it had gluten before I ate it. First time server realized after food was dropped off. This time one server said it was safe but when I double checked with runner who brought food he went to kitchen and said no it has gluten. My celiac daughter had enchiladas. Only two of the sauce options (red and queso) are gluten free. Neither of us were sick afterwards but all the back n forth with server and kitchen was not very relaxing.
Definitely recommend, though I'm not sure if the experience is server related. No GF menu and not marked on the menu but our server knew what was and was not GF in every category of item. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door. Food was good and reasonably priced. Will go again when I'm in town.
My daughter is Celiac and extremely sensitive. She has never had a problem with this location. We did take out for New Years and they were so good with keeping everything separate down to the chips and salsa. They have a dedicated fryer for chips. All of the wait staff including the “to go” specialist has taken extreme care in making sure her food was not contaminated. It is one of the only sit down restaurants she feels comfortable at. Excellent food! I do wish they would bring back their GF menu or at least note the items in the menu.
If you have allergies, ask before you eat anything. I have a serious MSG allergy and almost every dish has it in their "seasoning packet." But once they knew, the manager and chef came out to speak to me. They made a meal with no seasoning, gluten or corn for me that was very fresh and tasty. My family is local and it is one of their favorite local restaurants with 4 children under 5. They are gluten, egg and peanut free.
One of our go to places when we visit the Springs. They do specify they are gluten sensitive but, despite having celiac I am able to eat there.
its a really good place that has a gluten free menu that happens to be a good amount of gf menu options. another cool thing is the fact that their chips are all fried in completely different fryer . I talk to the manager about the chips so you can feel 💯safe. I promise I haven't had a reaction from this place either so its pretty safe
Good selection. I had gf carnitas enchiladas, son had gf chicken enchiladas and daughter had gf chicken tacos. They came on different colored plates which always makes me feel better. I didn't order it, but they had tortilla soup too, which is hard to find. We enjoyed it and would go back if in town again.
My previous review years ago said good things. They have changed their menu a lot in the past 5 years, and I’m not impressed. No longer have a full gluten free menu, they basically don’t make accommodations, they just list what has gluten or traces of gluten. In fact, that is what I like the least - none of their beef is gluten free. Not carne asada, not birria, not ground beef, not fajita steak…nothing. So you can get chicken or shrimp. And they are tasty, but limited options. Also, their butter sauce contains gluten, and many of their sauces/quesos.
So, it’s fine, but no longer rated as one of the best. I’m glad they list what it safe. But I’m disappointed that they can’t just make normal (already non-breaded) foods without adding gluten to it all!
