Poor customer service. Decent product, but shipping and their service etc isn’t worth it.

We ordered donuts for a family event. Everyone was so kind and professional. Customer service was stellar and the donuts...WOW WOW WOW! Still cannot believe these are gluten free! They are so light and airy! REAL YEAST RAISED DONUTS! They were both gluten free and dairy free!

My family and I are ordering for the holidays as well and cannot wait!

Just at the start, my sister and I were put off during the online ordering process. They charged us a $5 shipping fee just because we were picking up at the Dallas location and not Mesquite (where the bakery is). We would have picked up at Mesquite but they were closed that day. It also seems a bit ridiculous to ask for $5 to transfer items at a distance that is less than 30 minutes away. We also noticed that we were required to give a minimum of a 20% tip. I am not against tipping, and I tend to give 20% tips for good service anyway, but it seems ridiculous to force your customers to tip. I find this fact even more ridiculous after noticing that they got our order wrong. My sister was looking forward to this because she has celiac and it is almost impossible to find fresh baked items that she can eat. We went out of our way to get these items for my sister. I picked them up in Dallas and drove to San Antonio for the weekend to bring them to her. She was so disappointed and upset that they had not included an item in her order, especially after having to pay so many extra fees. When I called a couple days later to correct the issue, the person on the phone seemed like she was accusing me of lying. She was asking me why I had waited this long to call. I was visiting family for the weekend so of course I wasn't able to drop everything and call about an error on the order. I asked if it was possible for them to ship out the missing item, since my sister was looking forward to it so much, but was told that it was not "cost effective" to do so. On their emails, however, they claim to ship nationwide so I know that this was just another tactic for them to get as much money out of us as possible. We will never order from here again and I am so disappointed to see these money extortion strategies being used by a "small company".

Owners response: “We apologise again for the mix-up. It could have been avoided had both you and our staff double checked the order before you left. You called us two days later to ask if we would ship you one single cinnamon roll for an order that you picked up. We offered you the option of picking it up but you refused and asserted that it should be shipped to you. Unfortunately we cannot as we told you. It would cost almost three times what you paid for the cinnamon roll to ship it. So we refunded it instead.

We are happy you won't order again, as you were rude af when you called. It's a cinnamon roll...not an organ. It really didn't call for the disrespectful, entitled attitude. We understand being upset about missing one item but you're too much.

As for the lie that we have mandatory tipping, we do not. It is optional. Had you read our site you would have seen that ma'am. Those tips go directly to our bakers to help support the higher cost of staff these days. Google the job market crisis for a more thorough explanation of said crisis.

As for the $5 fee, if you didn't like it you could have picked up at the Mesquite location during our normal business hours. Seems redundant to complain about your own choice but whatever.

Be well.”

Edit to owners response on google: Your response just shows what an unprofessional business you are running. My sister is already unfortunate enough to have a disease that prevents her from eating at 90% of businesses out there and then she has to deal with businesses like you. I was not rude on the phone call. I am actually quite a pushover and when you said that it was not cost effective to ship the cinnamon roll, I said that a refund would be okay. As much as it would not be "cost effective" for you to ship the cinnamon roll, it would not be effective for me to pick up the cinnamon roll. As I stated in my review and on the phone, I picked it up in Dallas and had to drive 5 hours to deliver it to my sister.

It is also unreasonable that I am expected to make sure that your employees have done their job correctly. I did not check the order, since I am not gluten free and I did not want to get gluten on the order and make my sister sick.

It is not a lie that a tip was mandatory. My sister was unable to continue the order until she gave a tip of 20% or 25%. It's sad that in all your responses to complaints, you say they are entitled. It is not entitled to expect good service. I don't know about the other people, but I was not rude on the phone so it is making me doubt that all the others you called rude and entitled were actually acting in that way.

I will be reporting you to the BBB so that anyone else who will consider coming to you will think twice

Had a great experience here. Everyone was super nice and friendly. I did read through the reviews before going here and saw allot about the owner being rude but she was really nice to me. I cannot remember her name but I did ask if she was the owner and she said yes.

The food was some of the best gluten free I've ever had. I've been gluten and dairy free for almost 27 years now so that says allot. I had the dairy free cinnamon rolls and a few different flavors of cupcakes. They were all tasty and gone in less than 24 hours! (I know that's bad but they were so scrumptious I couldn't help myself!)

It was a good experience for me and I'll be back for sure.

My family and I had a great experience. Larissa (sp?) helped me to find the perfect cake for my family celebration. My sons are both allergic to nuts, sunflower, and soy, while I'm allergic to dairy and gluten. Hannah's made us the most wonderful strawberry cake with a strawberry filling and fresh strawberries on top. It was the best thing we've had in a long time! Seriously!!!!

I also have to rave about their cinnamon rolls. It's completely understandable why these made them famous! We had the dairy free ones. TO DIE FOR!

Try Hannah's! You won't be disappointed.

I have been a loyal customer for years now. I come several times a year but this time was different. I placed an order on Monday the 26th of 2021 and paid $22 extra for OVERNIGHT shipping. I received an email confirming delivery for Wednesday the 28th. All seems great until I receive a message, THE DAY OF EXPECTED DELIVERY, from the manager saying they had a death in the family and needed to take time off. She said all orders would be delivered the next Tuesday which is August 3rd. All i asked for was my $22 refund that I spend extra to ensure delivery. She said no and that they have a 5 day processing fee when online it says 3 DAY PROCCESSING FEE UNLESS YOU PAY FOR THE EXTRA SHIPPING WHICH I DID! We went back and forth through text and she ended up saying she would call me later and I agreed. That call never came. I gave her the week to mourn and be with family (even though I bought these for my mother because we just went through a death in the family) but at the end of the day, a business needs to be ran. I can totally sympathize for the business and family but to not give me a refund for the $22 for shipping is absolutely ridiculous! Here comes Tuesday august 3, and I try to call the number listed that I called before and my number is blocked! I then call the number that she texted me from and that was blocked too! I know it was blocked because then I used my friends phone and it went through! I am absolutely so beyond frustrated that I not only didn't receive my delivery but then get treated like I'm in the wrong here! I will NEVER use this company again and I would suggest you do the same! Orders are not guaranteed and if you piss them off, they will just block you and there will be no way to contact them. I even was going to show up at the location, but somehow they are opening another location so everything is closed for in store options. NEVER USE THIS PLACE!

DO NOT go here or order food to be shipped to you! I just experienced THE WORST and RUDEST customer service from the owner. I ordered the kolaches and cinnamon rolls to be shipped via 2 Day Air. They arrived DESTROYED and HOT (they arrived with a small ice pack on the cream cheese which was hot to the touch and the cream cheese frosting was hot, i.e. NOT SAFE TO EAT). When I called the bakery, I left a voicemail (no one picked up) and was called back by the owner. I asked if she’d heard my message and she said you listened to some of it, “but knew where it was going...”. She blamed me for ordering via 2 Day Air, said that many places don’t refrigerate their cinnamon rolls or kolaches, but wouldn’t address that they shouldn’t arrive HOT. She asked me to send pictures via text and I did. Here is her response:

“We actually don't do refunds per the policy you agreed too. Unfortunately there in a nothing we can do here as YOU chose two day shipping.”

I’ve included pictures of the damaged products. Please don’t give this place your business. They are rude and the customer service is sub par at best. There are so many great places to give your business, especially when so many GF dedicated places need our support now more than ever. THIS BUSINESS ISN’T ONE OF THEM.

My wife and I were grateful to find this place and we're glad they didn't close due to covid and at least offered pick and delivery. We had our items delivered. Everything was fresh and tasty and no contact as promised. The donuts and chocolate chip cookies were my fav! My wife loved the cinnamon rolls. They were huge but she ate two in one day. It's been so long since we've had gluten free that was good. We'll be ordering again soon!

Really shocked that there are so many good reviews for this place. Driving home from a small getaway and found this place on this app. Was really excited.

When we walked in, I almost turned around and walked out, it was that dirty. Two teenagers/young adults were sitting at a table listening to (explicit) music. The girl got up and quickly changed it.

Options were small and didn’t look fresh. I got a sausage biscuit, a cinnamon roll, and a cookie to take home to my youngest who is GF. She heated my cinnamon roll and biscuit in the microwave. While my cinnamon roll was heating, she had the biscuit in her hand (still wrapped) and was running it along the counter. Unwrapped plastic forks all had dust or flecks of something on them. We paid around $14 and left.

I was hesitant to even eat my items considering how dirty the place was but I tried them because I was so desperate for a good sausage biscuit.

Sausage biscuit had that very “earthy” taste that many GF items do. Sausage looked and tasted like pre-packaged microwave sausage.

Cinnamon roll was ok. I imagine it would have been pretty good had it been fresh.

Cookie was thin and chewy but flavor wasn’t bad.

Not friendly Not clean

GF equivalent of gas station food.

Family, minority-owned business, and the whole family seems genuinely involved and passionate about what they do. Mother (celiac) and daughter both have serious gluten issues, so the work is personal. Okay, all of that matters a lot to me, but I'm sure that's not your main question. The bottom line: Everything I've eaten from this brilliant bakery is delicious. The cinnamon rolls are legendary (and taste as good as or better than any similar but gluteny stuff from my pre-celiac disease). It does indeed taste like they love what they do.

We've known about and loved Hannah's for a few years and I've always been pleased. I can't account for why I failed to review them until just now.

Update: Still love this place! They’ve been expanding their menu and literally everything I’ve had has been absolutely amazing! They have also lowered prices but with that they have done away with teacher discounts, but that’s ok.

Went for the first time today and it was amazing! The owners HAVE to be the nicest, friendliest, happiest people I have ever met, no joke, y’all! They took the time to talk with me and tell me about their top selling cupcakes and of course, they’re most famous for their cinnamon roll. Thankful I work down the street, so will definitely be going very often for my sweet fix. Oh, they also give Mesquite ISD teachers a discount, so that’s a plus as well lol HIGHLY recommend!

Some of their stuff is really good, like their cinnamon rolls (as long as they are fresh). Some of their stuff is just really dry. I used to go there all the time, but then it was like every time I went, they weren’t open. Recently I have noticed some changes. I used to go there because I swear this is the only place you can find gf strawberry cupcakes. But they are smaller now with the same amount of icing (which is different now) so the cupcake to icing ratio is all wrong. I could hardly taste the cupcake. Also there used to be cute little icing flowers on top and they don’t do that anymore. If I don’t want to roll the dice on a cinnamon roll, I just won’t go.

THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE KOLACHES!!!!

I don't think there's anything better than fresh fruit and meat kolaches for breakfast and Hannah's did not disappoint! First I tried every flavor they had which were lemon cheese, cheese, raspberry, cherry, apricot, andouille, and jalapeno cheddar. They were all so good but the savory ones were what I came for. At only $2 per kolache it is a huge deal! I bought everything or one they had! They all freeze well so I will have andouille and jalapeno cheddar for breakfast for the next week and I'm not ashamed at all!

If you need dairy free (which I don't require) they have you covered there too as the cherry, raspberry, apricot, and andouille are gluten and dairy free.

This place has been doing amazing things in the gluten free world and the service is friendly. They actually treat you like you're part of the family and the mom (Larrisa) is so knowledgeable about food allergies and gluten free baking that two other ladies and I practically begged her to start a blog or vlog to teach others all the good stuff she knows.

Hannah's also offers national shipping and I'm all for it! I live an hour and way and made my first shipping order for Christmas. I'm so excited to have fresh kolaches for Christmas and I can't wait!

The location was very easy to find (ty Google maps) and sits inside an old shopping strip. The strip itself doesn't lend well to clean and crisp, but I do understand that is outside the control of the owner and this is not a complaint, just an observation. Inside however, while it was probably clean, the lack of updated paint and flooring may make others question the cleanliness. The front of the building housed 2 small tables, each seating 2-3 customers, a small confectioners chilling chest and checkout area. Inside the cases hosted about 10 different cupcake types, a few cookies, a few doughnuts, and a variety of prepackaged (their own personal packaging) of cinnamon rolls, and personal sized cobblers and cakes. *Note, pricing is not available any where and when asking the owner, she wasn't sure herself on a few items.

Everything within the case looked delicious but ceremonial small sizes. Cupcakes were $4 (maybe $4.50 each) and all standard size. The cookies were on the larger but thin side, and because they didn't peak our interest, I don't remember the price. Cinnamon rolls, which were advertised as leavened (simply put they used yeast) were cup saucer sized as well as a lemon Bundt cake (same size) were both sitting in dried puddles of what looks like a simple confectioners sugar drizzle. Both of these we're $6-7 each.

The owner was initially very kind, asking for us to Yelp a review to avg out negative Yelps by others who were offended when asked to return their gluten items to their cars. (Big thumbs up if this story hold true, I have yet to review other Yelp reviews posted)

I located the store using Allstate Rewards, which is a program through our insurance agency that rewards us for safe driving. I have used these rewards hundreds of times from local to out of state small businesses and fast food without ever having a major issue. We have run into a few times where the individual I presented them to was unaware of them did question it, but in the end had always accepted it. This reward was for 50% off a purchase with a maximum discount of $5. It was nothing amazing, but it got me in the door, which seems to be the whole point. I tend to use caution when finding coupons from non-reputable locations, but I do consider this form as reputable. Before I go further into our coupon adventure...

We ordered their top 5 cupcake flavors as recommended:. Triple Chocolate, Red velvet, Caramel Coffee, Banana Cream and Strawberry, as well as 2 cinnamon rolls. I also originally ordered a lemon Bundt cakes but ultimately decided against it for reasons later mentioned.

We chose to purchase our items and leave the store since there were no visibly available options for coffee, milk, water, etc to enjoy with our cupcakes. *I will not make this mistake again, TEST the product (even just 1 thing) before making multiple choices!

So why the lemon bundt cake left behind? When presenting the coupon, (which comes at a cost of points through Allstate) we're weren't just denied, but the drama to follow by the owner was incredibly off putting. While she claimed that they have no coupons and have no clue how that was out there (and perhaps that is possible) she had the audacity to first ask me to correct the issue with Allstate, this as a consumer is NOT in my control, however I did explain that perhaps her reaching out to Allstate would be beneficial. Even after I verified the location, business name and phone number were correct, she continued to speak at a high volume at how wrong I was (outside of staff, no other customers were present), this continued throughout out 3+ minute check out process (as they had to double check prices) and even while we walked out the door.

Here's a helpful hint to any business, if there is a coupon out there, especially for something as minor as $5, consider taking it. Because it was not accepted, I declined to purchase the lemon bundt cake that was $7. Now I do get that the cost to make items isn't free, the staff isn't free, the location, tools, etc aren't free either. But a negative review can have a greater impact than a mere $5.

Overall rating of actual experience from entering and leaving the location was very poor.

My daughter and friend couldn't wait to try these items, neither child has gluten sensitivity or Celiac, but are both use to it because that's how I cook and bake. So they are no strangers to the good and bad (especially my own flops). My daughter and i chose to split the triple chocolate and her friend had the caramel coffee (which we did get two of those so we could try as well).

*I won't pretend to be able to distinguish individual flavors from each other or deconstruct the finished product down to their actual ingredient list, but I will try to be as accurate as possible to texture and flavor.

Triple Chocolate Cupcake:

The cupcake was not moist however not so dry it reminded me of bread crumbs. Initially I felt as if I were eating a kitchen sponge with grains of grit. The flavor itself was not remarkable, in fact didn't even taste like chocolate. The icing was a deep brown color and visually pleasing. Unfortunately, I'm still questioning if this didn't just come out of a can.

The four remaining cupcakes were tried later in the evening at our hotel, each cut into ¼ sections for my daughter and myself. (Her friend had since gone home)

Coffee Caramel Cupcake:

This cupcake was moist and the coffee flavor in the cake itself was fantastically strong (which is a plus to me). As the coffee flavor hit with a punch it didn't linger, thus allowing for a chance to taste the cake itself. My best guess is, this is the same batter used for the triple chocolate cupcake, with the same unfortunate stages. The icing itself was light and airy and flavorful. When trying both the cake and icing together however was a texture nightmare and a fight between artificial flavors.

Strawberry Cupcake:

Beautiful strawberry colored cupcake topped with white icing. Cutting it screamed that a moist cupcake was to come! The icing itself was dry and crunchy, but perhaps it was meant to be that way. While the cake itself was the most moist one encountered, the artificial flavoring overpowered the ability to focus on how well constructed this batter actually was. The icing was vanilla, that's it, nothing more, and I don't know how to make vanilla icing more exciting to review.

The following we're the top sellers:

Banana Cream Cupcake:

The cupcake itself was dry and dense, but not as dense as an actual banana bread. There was no actual flavor present in the cake itself, not even the slightest hint of vanilla. If you're looking for a delivery method that will not affect flavors of other items, this would be it. The icing was an intense hit of artificial banana flavoring, sickly sweet with a kick of chemical taste. On top of the icing were crunchy something's, unfortunately I was not able to identify for sure. It was a weird texture combination but didn't affect taste or flavor, thus finding it rather harmless. Icing and cake together provided a better balance which lessened the artificial flavor, but for someone like me who LOVES banana-most-anything, I couldn't get past the fakeness of it.

Red Velvel Cupcake:

1st off, red velvet is a hard one, gluten free or not, so the fact they had it available piqued my interest. The cupcake was a beautiful intense red color topped with a modest white icing. For me personally, I liked this presentation because it's the cake itself that is the centerpiece. I'll address the icing first, unfortunately where a good buttercream or even pushing the limits with a cream cheese based icing would have complimented this piece, it was topped with the same unremarkable icing from the strawberry cupcakes. But then again, maybe this was the time for the cake to speak for itself! Oh and speak it did!!! I'm going to assume this was the standard chocolate batter base used in the triple chocolate and coffee leaving the texture no different. The kicker was the color, how did they managed such a feat? Now this is one I do now how they did it, because I have in the past made the same good awful mistake with red...way too much gel coloring. If you've never used too much gel, I don't think I can adequately explain how horrible the taste is. A cupcake, a perfectly cooked steak, a piece of 5 day old trash will all result in the same flavor when using too much gel, and none of them are good.

So what remained of each of the cupcakes after our tasting...well that is the sad part. We did each finish our quarter portion off all the flavors except the red velvet, one bite of that was enough. The remaining half of the others hit the trash, this was not money well spent.

So what about the cinnamon rolls you may ask? While we were saving these for breakfast, they haven't even left their bag/containers. We spent the next remaining hours in a small hotel room without gas masks, while trying to expel large amounts of gas build up from what I'm no convinced was a gross over use of bean based flours. (Even today I'm not back to pretesting size)

As an individual with celiac, when I travel I do carry various sized pants with me for the 'oh damn my gut is expanding from gas build up’, but nothing prepared me (or my bean and carb loving daughter) for this experience, even my shirts aren't fitting around my buddha belly. With 8 more days on the road, neither of us are willing to chance it again for a cinnamon roll.

While I can understand an old building, deal with prices not listed, and even a coupon not honored, a prideful (to the point of obnoxious) owner, Hannah's Bakery still had a chance at redemption with their products. But alas, that ended up being the biggest failure of them all.

Maybe this is the best that Texas has to offer and maybe this is what they consider good, but Dear residents of and surrounding Mesquite TX, there is a world out there you have yet to see, it's full of flavor that even your gluten counterparts would walk away loving.

In Dallas for a family wedding and stopped in at Hannah’s for a gluten free treat. The owner/Baker was delightful. I tried a cinnamon roll and kolache for breakfast and a red velvet cupcake to take to the wedding. All three were amazing! I will definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Most amazing cinnamon roll ever! The owner was so kind to my daughter and I. We just moved her and she was so helpful with helping us find places to dine. She went above and beyond! Great service and food.

Let me start by saying this is a real review.. I've seen other bad reviews and the owner apparently says all the bad ones are "fake"... because people have time to write "fake" reviews??

I'm sitting here actually shocked at how this owner treats people. I was in Texas for a few weeks and tried to contact this shop to purchase some gluten free products. I called several times and could never get anyone on the phone and also messaged through Instagram on April 23. She JUST responded today asking what location. I wrote back and said I'm not there anymore but you may want to check your online hours and numbers bc I couldn't get anyone. (Which is why I messaged on ig) she wrote back rude as can be saying "she doubted" I tried calling or I called before or after her business hours. I told her that would be silly of me and that it was rude to respond in that manner. She then blocked me on ig so I emailed her saying how rude to treat potential customers that way and I'd love to talk on the phone to fix this bc I'm sure she doesn't REALLY treat people this way. Otherwise.. I'll write a review and let others know. She responded saying I was harassing her and she's going to let everyone on her social media outlets know what type of people LIKE ME she has to deal with. People who try and contact her to buy her products??? I'm still so confused and baffled that a business owner has this sort of attitude. It's truly sad when I tried to make things right to be a future customer! Doesn't it speak for itself when she responds on ig almost a month later? I feel like that proves my point of it all. Anyway, sad sad customer service here. I feel for the others who left reviews and she tries to blame the customer in all of them.

I tried Hannah's gluten-free donuts 3 weeks ago and thought it was fantastic!!! I had been craving donuts for weeks but needed a healthier alternative. This really hit the spot for me. I actually placed my donuts in the freezer and had them 3 days later. It was fresh and tasted delicious.

Celiac safe, AND nut free! Very good, and they were amazingly nice. We will go back again and again I'm sure. The bread sticks are soft, feel and taste just like regular bread sticks. Cup cakes are worth every penny.

Always pleased with our items from here. Totally gf facility and the kids get excited that they have so many choices as that doesn't happen very often with celiac disease.

Let me start by saying I'm so happy that I didn't go by the last few reviews of this place and tired it anyway. I'm not sure if this is their local competition trying to ruin this bakery but my experience was absolutely amazing! The place was super packed when we went on Saturday and everyone was racing about their food when they found out we were newbies!

The owner was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable about not ONLY GF but dairy free, vegan, and sugar free as well. We tried allot of the items. Hands down the cinnamon rolls were THE BEST we've ever had. The kolaches, donuts, and the sugar free low carb cheesecakes were THE BOMB too!

If you're visiting the area you must make this stop! It was certainly the best GF my wife and I have ever had!

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous two reviewers regarding customer service. I purchased a groupon with OBSCURE and VERY misleading wording. When I went to redeem it I was told I was not the only one who didn't understand how it worked. Here is the breakdown.

Purchase price of groupon $14 for a $20 voucher, but you HAVE to purchase $60 worth of cupcakes or a $60 cake. She tried to convince me it was still a $20 value because you take $20 from the $60 total which is $40....BUT add in the $14 already paid for the groupon and you are actually spending a total of $54. So the groupon was essentially a $6 value with a minimum order of $60. I realize I read the groupon wrong (like I said, the wording was small and misleading) but she said I was not the only one. I told her I was bummed out I didn't understand the groupon when I purchased it but I couldn't afford to spend another $40 and she snapped that I just need to get a refund from groupon (impossible). She would not let me at least use the $14 value that I had already paid. Nope, take it up with Groupon. If she had let me use the $14 value I would have actually purchased more baked goods as a "thank you" for being understanding and allowing me to get what I had already paid for. Unfortunately she would rather be "right" than try to make the situation right. so I left empty-handed. Have no idea what their food tastes like, but you can guarantee I will never go back especially when there are places like Company Cafe and Liteful Foods who have MUCH more affordable prices and friendly people.
