My favorite place to eat gluten free pizza.
Talked with the manager when we arrived. They were aware of cross contamination concerns and used separate toppings and sauce, as well as clean utensils and a clean prep area. Our daughter loved the gluten free crust. For ice cream, the server used a clean scoop on request and even let us see the ingredient label on the ice cream to ensure we felt comfortable. They acknowledge that there is gluten in the kitchen but seemed to take all steps to mitigate cross contamination. We had a very positive experience.
Happy Joe's offers all of their pizzas on a small gluten-free crust. Happy Joe's takes extra precautions to ensure the pizza does not come in contact with gluten. I have had Happy Joe's pizza numerous times with no issues. Highly recommend! Fairly inexpensive pizza too.
the pizza is excellent here, and I've never had a problem. I always get the taco joe, though I love that their pepperoni is a bit spicy as well! compared to the Grand Forks location, they make them here so much better. I'm guessing they have some GF crusts unthawed, instead of sending them in frozen. I was eating these weekly for a while, once I tried it...
The staff of this restaurant is very friendly and they were really pleasant and patient about answering or questions about how they prepared the pizza. They have gluten free crusts, prepare the pizzas on a separate clean sheet of paper, change out the brushes for the sauce, and use a clean cutter. The pizza was very good and tasted like the standard Happy Joes's pizza. What more could we ask for?
We visit Dubuque every other year, and going to Happy Joe's is a must!! I loved them before I went GF, so I was a little worried about their Gf crust. I have to say, the GF taco pizza tastes the same as the non-GF pizza! Yum! I can't wait to go back!
We called and asked a bunch of questions and it sounded like we might be able to eat there, but we found out they do not switch utensils and use the same ladle and sauce to put on every pizza gluten free or not. Due to cross contamination issues we were unable to eat there
I ordered their gluten free pizza, and verified that it was completely gluten free. Well after eating, I started to feel ill and had been glutened by their pizza. I later called and filed a complaint, they seemed to not really care that they messed up. All they offered was a 15% coupon on my next purchase, which I will never eat there again due to their non-caring attitude.
Any pizza you want on gluten free 9" crust. Just be careful of the toppings. And I saw the guy change gloves before handling my crust. All the toppings came from communal bins though so if you're really sensitive be careful.
Gluten-free crust tasted great, similar in taste and texture to the regular crust. The crust is made in a GF facility but Happy Joe's is very up front that they cannot guarantee cross-contamination. there's even a notice taped to the box. $10.99 for a small, only size they offer gluten-free.
