I went because of the good reviews but honestly we were rather unimpressed. My friend and I ordered a casserole that sounded delicious. But we were both hungry and the size of the serving was too small. I thought they should have added a vegetable as it was a main entree. We both ordered a drink and it was watered down. Too bad, I’d heard so many good things about Harlow and I like to support gluten free restaurants. I would consider trying them again for breakfast.
Line out the door, but moved fast and food came quickly. Kids menu! Pancakes, Mac’n cheese were a hit. Smoothies top notch. Chipotle Chili bowl is a tasty punch in every bite. Harlow will become a Portland tradition each time we pass through.
I have been for breakfast and dinner. Excellent nutrient rich entrees. I highly recommend the breakfast! I only gave it one less star because of the smoothies. We sent ours back, because it tasted bland. They said they use a measured amount of fruit, which may have been fine if the fruit was riper or they didn't add so much almond milk.
Nice atmosphere, but loud. Had to shout at lunch time. You order at the counter and the line was fairly slow. Friendly staff, but won't take special orders like eggs cooked hard. My salad and dressing were very good with the exception that the beets were raw. I like beets, but if they were roasted a bit they would be much more tasty. Doubt I will go back.
I probably could go back to Harlow every day for a week and still never get the same thing twice or be upset with the offerings. Don't let the words "raw" and "vegan" scare you away from trying this delicious food! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as serving a variety of smoothies and juices, the menu options are expansive (to say the least).
A little pricier than I generally feel comfortable to leave not full, but the Mercy Blues with poached eggs was SO good. I got a juice too - the Shanti. Tasted more like celery than apple or mint but not bad. Everything is GF so I had lots if choices! Will be back for sure.
