When I’m hungry for a burger and fries/tots, HCBC is my go to. I have always had a good experience. I travel a lot up and down I35, and I have stopped at every location along that route and have never been glutened. Their customer service is always great and the food is consistent. Safety 100%!
Dedicated gluten free fryer. I had the nuggets and loaded fries. Staff was familiar with celiac and changes gloves for me. Great nuggets. No reaction.
This is my go to lunch stop when I’m in a town that has one! It is so nice to eat practically anything from this restaurant.

I was so excited about this place! It’s not easy to find gf fries, let alone chicken nuggets, etc. The restaurant was filthy! That was really disappointing. The fried pickles were way too salty. I love salty food so if it’s too salty for me then it is really salty! The chicken, fries and dips were pretty good.
Great to have a convenient “fast food” option! Tasted like… fast food. Young lady at register wasn’t well versed on what is GF but everything was clearly marked.
I love hat creek restaurants, they are the safest fast food option for celiac disease. All sides are gluten free!

Nice burger 🍔 spot. Gluten Free buns available, and all of the sides are GF! The fries were great.
Service was quick and the food was good. Space was a little dirty but they are clearly very busy on Saturdays.
I have a couple kids with celiac disease. We just moved to town. They are super happy that we found a fast food restaurant where they can eat safely and feel like all the other kids who get to go to McDonald's and Chick-fil-A and play on the playground. We have gone there multiple times since moving here and neither of them have ever gotten sick. One of them loves the chicken nuggets and fries. I tried the gluten-free cheeseburger with the sweet potato fries and it was really good. I would liken the taste of the burger to In-N-Out. Obviously, it's not exactly the same but you can see it from there.
Everything that goes into their fryers is gluten-free and they know how to do allergy protocol. They change their gloves and make the food in a separate area. They use the same grill for their burgers and buns. However, they put down parchment paper or foil onto the grill first, which is exactly what we do for our kids when we grill at our relatives' houses and they never get sick. All in all, we are very happy with this restaurant!
I had GF chicken nuggets and fries. The nuggets are whole pieces of breast meat and quite good. The fries were just okay. There were many GF options.
Such a treat! Celiac safe. Fries and totes - as well as chicken - are to die for and make a celiac feel normal!
Food is decent. Nice to order something fried safely. Never had issues in 10+ visits. The ‘fry sauce’ is not gluten free and isn’t clearly marked as such. Somewhat skeptical of cross contamination but order safe and smart and you’ll be okay.
Did a great job with my food. I had a burger in a lettuce wrap and sweet potato fries. Nice place to get a quick meal while traveling
I've eaten here before and after my Celiac diagnosis. We're not impressed with the burgers (they're just alright), but dang is their chicken good! Juicy, real chunks of meat in a buttermilk coating, fried in soy oil. (so, be careful if you're allergic to milk or soy!) Surprisingly, I did not react to Hat Creek's soy oil! I do react to Raising Canes' oil (pre-diagnosis).
This was my first visit after the diagnosis, and I ordered the chicken nuggets. (I haven't tried their GF buns, yet.) Their fried chicken, all sides, and all sauces/fry seasoning are gluten free. Thus, their fryer is dedicated to gluten free.
The cashier was quite knowledgeable about what was and was not gluten free. Hot dogs and some shakes are not gluten free. He did not name all the non GF shakes, but my husband ordered the Birthday Cake one, and it has sprinkles in it which are not gluten free.
What I don't know is if they toast their buns on the griddle. So, if they do, you might need to be careful when ordering a burger with a GF bun. I'll try to remember to update this review if I ever find out.
Amazing find while visiting San Antonio! A fast food establishment where all fried foods are gluten free including fried chicken sandwiches, a variety of fries and Nuggets! The gluten free bun and chicken were great, along with the sweet potato fries. Fast, easy and safe. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!! I am very gluten sensitive and had no reaction.
Great burger and REALLY GREAT bun! Best GF burger bun I’ve had in 14 years! The seasoning on the regular fries is not the best but the sweet potato fries are great!
Everything fried is gluten free and they have their own great gluten free buns, which means you can get a good old fried chicken sandwhich. It was so good 😭. All their fried chicken and chicken nuggets are buttermilk style fried chicken. Great sauces too. Overall really good and happy to enjoy a good chicken sandwich that I haven’t had in years.

So far so good. Been eating there once a month for the past 3 months and I haven’t had a reaction. I have celiac disease and extremely sensitive. Burger, fries, and shake are awesome. It's the place to go if your craving a burger with a bun instead of a protein style with is just a lettuce wrap. Will definitely keep going back

The gf bun was delicious and doesn’t crumble like a lot of others. The fried chicken nuggets are also gluten free and you can tell they are made with real chicken. Would definitely recommend and I will be coming back.
First time visiting Hat Creek. I was so excited to try gluten free fried pickles and fried chicken nuggets. The nuggets were juicy on the inside and crispy on the out. The fried pickles are sliced and we’re done to perfection. They have a great “fry sauce” too. Well worth the visit. I will absolutely be back the next chance I get. I may request it as a special birthday meal - I don’t live in the area but I would say well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive to eat here again (I was down visiting family this trip). I’ve been trying to figure out how I can get back there again before I go home.
Their gluten-free bun tastes awesome! The chicken flashers and sides are gluten-free as well and taste great.
This is the only place I know of where I can get a GF fried chicken sandwich or fried chicken nuggets through a drive through!
Even a couple of milkshakes are GF 😭💓
All fried foods are gluten free.
Separate toaster for GF buns.
For the main food, only the regular buns have gluten.... everything else is gluten free, so anything ordered with a GF bun is GF. All fried items are gluten free.

i’m celiac and i’ve been a few times with no reaction. as long as you aggressively emphasize it with the cashier, you should be okay. i say i have a severe allergy and i haven’t had any issues! their burgers remind of what it was like before i was gluten free
We were really impressed with Hat Creek. Definitely highest % of the menu being gf compared to any other fast food, and was the best gf fast food weve had before. We tried to Bacon Royale, nuggets, fries, and fried pickles. Everything was delicious, and the batter was perfect. Plenty of sauces available as well (+ the fry sauce was perfect!). We will definitely be stopping the next time were near a hat creek again!
People are use to gluten free orders! Very friendly, very knowledgeable. Food is great and you have a choice of burger or chicken nuggets. All sides are gluten free!
