There was a little bit of initial confusion regarding the menu and what was gluten free and what wasn't. The waitress said we couldn't order the Hatch Brown (a potato patty filled with cheese and hatch chiles) tacos because potatoes have gluten in them. We said that potatoes do not contain gluten and she went to check with the kitchen where the chef was very knowledgable. She came back with a lot more information about the menu and sure enough, they were safe to order. If asked, they are happy to fry a batch of chips for you in the dedicated fryer. They also fried our Hatch Brown and popcorn chicken for the tacos in the dedicated fryer. Everything was really good! We took the leftovers on the ferry to Victoria and they packed a whole order of gluten free chips for us to take with us. They food was delicious cold too!

Food was wonderful and prepared quickly. Portion sizes were good. A couple of choices for veggie gf but mostly meat. Customer service very so so. We asked for a menu and was told everyone orders via a qr code. We are British and had no phone connection and the qr code didn't work! Told the waitress several times I was gluten free, she didn't seem to care to the point of being unhelpful. Ended having to guess what to have and what might be gluten free. It was all ok though and no I'll affects. If you eat here be more forceful than us Brits!

SO, SO, SO good, the queso fondito starter was amazing, the pork ribs were just ok in our opinion. We got the popcorn chicken tacos (pretty good) and the caulini al pastor tacos (AMAZING)

also got the prickly pear margarita - SUPER strong but good flavor

no reaction, felt very safe eating here.

Everything was so amazing!! Let your server know you have celiac disease in the beginning and they’ll make sure they make the chips in a dedicated fryer!:) the popcorn chicken was sooo good and cocktails are bomb asf too!! Must try <3

Wonderful! I cannot express how wonderful it was to eat here. I have celiac and although there is not a “gluten free menu”, everything on the menu is clearly labeled. The owners and staff are well acquainted with celiac and are very accommodating. The food was delicious! I had the mahi-mahi tacos and they were superb! Everyone in my party of six raves about the food. Highly recommend Hatch Cantina! If I lived anywhere near here, it would be a well frequented place!

Staff was knowledgeable and explained the processes they use for safety. I had the popcorn chicken tacos and queso fundita. Queso was out of this world. Tacos were also very good, but I could be happy with just the dip!

We went for brunch and got the pastries (included both gluten free and non-gluten free on the same board, but I asked that they keep them separate and not touching), avocado tostadas, eggs Benedict, and chicken and corn cake. All of the food was so good, and I loved that there were so many options, we didn’t have to substitute anything, and the food was really good. Great service too. I would definitely go back!

I had a great experience here. The manager was very knowledgeable about preparing food that is celiac safe and took it very seriously, he explained how food was prepared to assure me it would be okay. He was also able to have chips made in a dedicated fryer (must ask while ordering). Afterwards I felt great and we will definitely be going back!

The food was delicious but unfortunately I became very sick after eating here. My partner and I ordered the 4 Corners Benedict and Popcorn Chicken & Corncakes from the brunch menu to share, noting my Celiac allergy and requesting they be prepared GF. While in Seattle we had to stop at Hatch Cantina. The atmosphere and drinks were perfect, the owner was very friendly and accommodating to my gluten free needs. We had the GF chips and cheso and the GF carnitas tacos, they were off the charts. Thanks to all previous reviewers without you, we would have never stopped!!

This place is amazing!!! My 8yr old daughter has a soy, dairy, wheat, barley, peanut, tree nut, oat, sesame allergy and this spot was spot on for her. You have to try to popcorn chicken that’s made with gluten free flour, the chicken tinga bowl is amazing. The chips are made in a separate fryer. The menu clearly outlines if it’s GF, V ,VF or DF. My daughter hugs us about 8 times during our time here because it was so good.

I visited for lunch recently and split three of the "Shareables" appetizers (Queso Fondito, Chile Cheese Cornbread, and Popcorn Chicken) with my partner. The food was absolutely delicious and I was quite full afterwards. I'm not downtown often, but I definitely want to eat here again.

IMPORTANT: While the kitchen does have a dedicated fryer, they also have other fryers. Be sure to mention to the staff if you're celiac so that they make sure to use the dedicated fryer for your food, otherwise you risk cross-contamination.

Very good food and best of all, a dedicated fryer! Rarely do I get to eat chips at a Mexican restaurant, and the queso fundito was really good! Most of the menu is GF, and I was able to eat popcorn chicken tacos without any issues. Would definitely go back again and again if we lived locally.
