Hot Cupps Bakery and Deli Market

I do not understand how this place is business. I just moved here and am a teacher in the area. I did not know where to go but came across a group on deal and thought hmmm I should try this since I am getting married in 5 months and need a cake or cupcakes. I went ahead and bought. Man I should have actually read the reviews first! Called and asked if they did cupcakes for weddings. They said Yup. Okay this is how you talk to a new customer? My 1st graders do not say yup. It is always Yes Miss M! I went on Saturday and was told I could not use my coupon. When I asked why. They said that they did not make enough for the day and they were going to close early and to make the most out of their money they would have to sell cupcakes at full price. I asked to speak to the owner and they said Donna was out and would call me back. I called several times during the week. Finally I went to the actual website and it has two different numbers. One on the front page and one contact page. I told this to my friend and she said she went there and the cupcakes were so dry and uneatable that I should be happy I did not wast a calorie on it. I am not sure why the owner has yet to call me back or anything but I guess they will just keep enjoying their loss in potential business. My friend said she did some research and there was a place in Oceanside owned by the same people and they closed and changed names and locations but it is all very hush hush.

I also bought the Groupon, planning on using it for a special event. When I called (on a Monday) I was told that the baker wouldn't be in until Thursday (what???) so I placed an order using two certs. On the day before I was supposed to pick them up (Friday) I received a text telling me I could only use one. So I said I would pick up one order on Friday and one on Saturday, but I was very disappointed in the customer service. I then received a text telling me to "forget it." They canceled my order and refused to honor either Groupon. I was shocked. Then, the owner called me to tell me she refused to honor the cert and when I tried to talk to her, she hung up on me! I've NEVER received such rude customer service in all my life. If I could give it negative stars, I would. What a HUGE disappointment. I intend to tell everyone to find a better cupcake place in Escondido such as Cute Cakes who are SUPER nice, have awesome cupcakes and who actually care about their customers!!!

Gluten-free cupcake options. Need to give 24 hours notice though.
