Service was great with friendly, knowledgeable staff. I was advised about cross contamination regarding fries, and that they take every precaution however it is not a gf kitchen. I had the burger with a gf bun, which was amazing. No reactions, and that is always a plus. Would definitely eat there again

They have a gf menu but it specifically says to tell your waiter of allergies because they don't have a gf kitchen. I communicated this with my waiter and ordered the filet and pono pie. Everything was delicious... But today I'm certain something I ate must have been cross contaminated. Be cautious when eating here!

Had a great experience here. Staff super helpful. Not too many GF options on the menu but the Mahi mahi was amazing with rice.

GF items marked on the menu, but limited to just a few side items on the breakfast menu. Our server recommended a gluten free bun for a breakfast avocado toast with bacon. It was delicious! The breakfast potatoes have gluten.

We went here for an early dinner and hit happy hour. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. My son wanted a hamburger and to be extra safe they cooked it in a clean pan. They had gf udi rolls. He had to get rice because no separate fryer. They were very accommodating and assure me that they took all precaution to keep it safe. I only gave it 4 hearts because it’s not dedicated but they try very hard to

Great experience at Hula Grill! They had gf bread come out as a substitute for the house bread. Staff was knowledgeable and had a good process with handling allergies! The macadamia crusted mahi mahi was to die for!

There are “gluten sensitive” items marked on the menu. Not too many options. I had the “Localicious salad” with swordfish. It was very refreshing! I would eat it again. No issues after eating. It’s expensive like everything else in HI.

Great place to have breakfast! They made me an omelette with sausage and cheddar and then the rice as the side since the potatoes aren’t gluten free, asked me if it was an allergy so that’s always a plus! Felt very comfortable eating here. Great view on the deck area

We went for breakfast and although they had no specific gluten free menu they were able to make me an omelette. I had the seafood omelette with fruit substituted for the potatoes. It was really good!

Very attentive staff on gluten intolerance. GF items marked on menu. Bake GF bread to dip in olive oil or special Hula Grill sauce. Wonderful GF seafood meal.

We had a good experience here, let our server know right away that we were gluten free and he was very helpful. Brought out gluten free bread (and was thoughtful enough to bring gluten bread for the wheat-eater) and made sure to reassure us at each stage. He was able to double check menu items for us, but it was difficult to make substitutions. There about 5 menu items that are GF. Overall, great experience.

Lovely experience. Waiter was confident in what my gluten free options were for breakfast. I had the avocado and egg on toast with bacon and a gluten free muffin which was lovely. Kitchen was informed of allergy as well. Reasonable price which was a bonus.

Absolutely amazing food and phenomenal service! The waitress brought me a GF bun instead of the focaccia to enjoy before our meal and was super great about asking if the special was GF. We’re going back there again this trip, we thought it was that good.

I was underwelmed here. It is a nice spot but I heard/read a lot of the hype and didn't get it... Yes it is a nice place and the food was good. We had a reservation. and good thing too, because it was busy! Our waiter was slow and not helpful with my questions. Maybe he was new...I was planning to order the burger on a gluten free bun, as I had seen that in previous yelp reviews, but it was not on the menu that night. Our waiter did say that I could order a kids burger on a gf bun, so that worked. They also did not have gluten free bread that I was excited to try that I had read about on previous yelp reviews. My husband enjoyed his dinner; he is easy to please. The gluten free dessert did not look or sound good to me. Cocktails were good.

Had breakfast here. It was really hard to find something that I thought would be safe to eat. After talking with the waiter and the waiter talking to the chef we decided that the best option would be the vegetarian omelette. The first day the omelette tasted great but the second day it was definitely not as good. I am undecided on if it has made me feel a little sick or if I feel sick from some thing else that I ate. They do not seem very versed on cross-contamination protocol and do not have a lot of gluten free options. I substituted the potatoes that came with the meal with fruit.

Great experience with a daughter with Celiac Disease. Waiter knew exactly what she could have. The menu was also marked with gluten-free items. The biggest treat, she got her own basket of homemade fresh baked gluten-free bread which was delicious.

Hula Grill was very good and waiter was knowledgeable about gf and cross contamination. As my food came out, they noted that it was gluten free, which was fantastic as it assured me that the waiter noted my food as gf. Overall, great place and had no issues.

Came here for dinner and it was excellent. Multiple items on the menu to choose from. I ended up getting Mahi Mahi and it was to die for. They also brought me some gluten free bread and dipping sauces! However, I looked at the lunch menu and there’s only about 2 gluten free options on that so I would stick to dinner for this one.

Celiac - dined here often, staff and management is knowledgeable; they have that protocol where the manager talks to the kitchen before and after allergy meals; Opa was cooked to perfection and the hummus and watermelon reddish chips were a nice touch!
Yes
Don’t go during Happy Hour. 3:00-6:00. Nothing to eat on the menu was gluten free. I doubled checked with 2 servers. I didn’t find them gluten friendly.
I have a super allergic kid to wheat. Celiac. They took tender gloves to her order and after testing with our Nima sensor it passed with flying colors! I love restaurants that take allergies serious!

Very limited options for GF... I don’t think it’s worth the money.
excellent fish with a wonderful salad with gluten free dressing. since last year they've removed this wonderful dish and have nothing gluten free for lunch. no longer a good place for lunch.

Having booked form christmas weeks in advance with a note for gluten feree, on the day they tell us they really dont have much gluten free. Really not good enough to warrent any rating on this app.

Excellent food and whilst they don't have gluten free bread, they provide a gluten free bun! Great options for celiacs.

Beware! Wait staff and chef are unaware of foods with gluten! They even add things into meals that aren't listed on the menu which have gluten in them. My wife ordered a salad and was very clear about her gluten allergies. When the meal came, her salad was covered with farro...a food composed of wheat! Even after they "fixed" it, there were still traces of farro in the salad, which says it does not have a dedicated area in the kitchen for GF foods. Salad wasn't tasty, either. A disappointment. Hours are odd, too...dining room closes at 2:00p, so we could only order off of Happy Hour menu at 2:05p?...on a Saturday right on the beach.
Wonderful GF burger. I'm sure the fries were cooked in a non-GF fryer (I was asked if crosss-contamination was a problem and I said no) but the GF buns here are FABULOUS. Add to that a gorgeous view, attentive wait staff and live music ..... winning combo
Horrible. The only gluten free options on the menu are beets and oysters. I even called ahead. The manager came out and offered to make a burger and even after explicit instruction it came out with French fries ( not GF) and blue cheese ( also not gluten free). They remade it and by the time it was served my whole party had finished eating.

Gluten free items clearly marked on the menu. Good selection. They take it very seriously here. The manager or chef brings out your food to make sure there is no cross contamination. The ahi tuna sashimi is to die for. Normally I'm not excited about creme brûlée because it's a typical GF dessert, but this was out of this world and served in a fresh half pineapple!
Went for breakfast, not much on menu but did have it marked GF. Had fruit platter and 2 eggs over easy, rice, and sausage. It was really good. They said the breakfast potatoes were not GF because of shared fryer. I ate 5 times this week for breakfast and was happy every time, mostly had eggs, rice, Portuguese sausage and pineapple but had a BLT with a egg on a GF bun one morning and it was good.
A few gf selections as their entire menu is fairly limited. The pan seared fish was good but expensive.
Yes
In GF and sugar free.Waitress assured me there was no sugar in the dinner I selected. it was obvious before I got home there WAS sugar I was in serious pain from my auger toxicity pain!!! Not sure I'd go there again.
Offer a GF menu, but dish included corn chips. It wasn't until I asked if they were home made that further question revealed they are not done in a dedicated fryer. Rest of meal was good but they seem to rely on customer analysis of offerings.
Great food, service, and view.
Small-ish GF menu but so delicious. Fresh, local food. Excellent flavors. Great live music. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Well worth coming here. too full to try it... But they actually have GF tiramisu!!
