The hostess said emphatically, "Yes! We can serve you safely!" But when it was time to order we learned that the "gluten friendly" pancakes are made in the same griddle as regular pancakes and grilled breads. Likewise the "gluten friendly" waffles are made in the same waffle maker as the regular waffles. The staff were kind and gracious, and re-opened a closed grill for our food. But we were there at a lull time so this was possible. Celiac's beware: this place is merely gluten aware and they have no mechanisms in place to prevent cross-contamination. Perhaps this is OK for some GF folks, but not safe enough for me.
No
IHOP has recently started serving gluten free pancakes, waffles, and burgers with gluten free buns.
I got extremely sick from a waffle here. Celiacs STAY AWAY!! I wouldn’t trust anything from here !!

The menu says Gluten Friendly not Gluten Free. Being a Celiac I’m taking that as the food is cross contaminated.

They have gluten FRIENDLY, not gluten free. They told me that celiacs can eat the pancakes, so I did. I am so sick right now, they were definitely not gluten friendly.

We went this past Sunday. The chain got bad reviews about cross contamination so I was skeptical. I told the waitress the I have to have my food gluten free. I don’t tell people Celiac because I find most don’t understand. So I say Gluten Allergy and they respond positively. She spoke to the chef and he offered to clean the flat top and utensils and cook only my items on it. The food came out and I had no issues with the Pancakes, eggs and hash browns. So good job Dover IHOP!
