In-N-Out was one of my favorite burger joints before my diagnosis. At first glance I didn’t think I’d be able to eat there anymore, but this place is actually very good in terms of cross contamination. Every time I’ve ordered a double double protein style and informed them of my allergy they’ve been very competent and accommodating. As of yet I haven’t gotten sick here!
Yes
Changed gloves, cooked burgers on separate grill and brought our food to the table. Jesse the manager is awesome!!
I ordered a protein style burger and fries (let them know about your GF condition). So far so good.. 😀
Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
In-n-out has been a great relief to have when on road trips!! You can order your burger "protein style" and ask them to add the "gluten allergy" button, (this means they make it in a safe area). Also the fries are great! (Safe fryers)!
Yes
Please don’t go, you will get glutened! So we all know that in-n-out has all the ingredients to be gluten free except the burger buns. I decided to go inside to place my order and let them know that I had a “gluten allergy” (no one understands celiac). When waiting for my order I saw the cooks placing the burger buns in the same place where they should only cook the burger patties. They have a place where they should heat the burger buns but they were utilizing both the bun area and patty area therefore contaminating the patties.
I’m extremely disappointed and would like to save you from getting sick. I thankfully didn’t do drive thru and saw this in time !

My kids all have Celiac disease, and we eat there a lot. They flag the ticket with a "gluten allergy" and the person preparing the food changes gloves. You can get your burgers "protein style" which is wrapped in lettuce, but my kids don't like lettuce, lol. So I just ask for the meat patty, and then we bring our own gf buns. The fries are the only thing cooked in the dryer, and their shakes are gf too!

I’m not sure how because I normally trust these guys 100% for no gluten exposure, but immediately after eating my protein style burger and fries I had awful flare up symptoms. I hadn’t had anything else that was possible of giving me gluten exposure so I have to blame it on the restaurant. Not sure how it happened but I won’t be returning as my joints are on fire.
** just by the way I just searched to see if there were any similar reviews on Google and there is one by a fellow gluten hater (lol) and she was sick after as well. So, seems they are not good at cross contamination. Be aware!
