Delicious burgers as usual and great with handling allergies! If you mention a gluten allergy they know to prep your food separately and the protein style lettuce wrap is the best I’ve had at any other burger joint. Pro tip - ask for well done or extra well fries, they’re super crunchy!!
Order "protein style" to get it wrapped in lettuce
I looked online and found out the best way to order GF is to ask for your Burger “protein style” (lettuce wrap) but make sure it’s “due to a gluten allergy.” Their fries are the only thing that go in the fryer. It was good at the time. Got sick later but I’m super sensitive so if you’re just gluten intolerant, give it a go!
I’m the pro at In N Out Gluten Free I’ve been going here for years! Some say the fries are bland. Add salt! They barely salt their fries to make it more healthy. Just ask for extra salt packets!!! ANIMAL STYLE FRIES yes please! YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR NO ONIONS AND SPREAD ON THE SIDE NOT ON THE FIRES. They use a spatula to put spread sauce on the buns of the burgers and same spatula for fries and your protein style burger! So say make sure the spread is on the side! They have little packets! The animal style fries are cheese onion and fries. Again they use the same spatula for touching bread with your onions! Also yes the fries are fried in the fryer but the only items on the menu are fries and burgers there are NO ONION RINGS OR CHICKEN NUGETS. So there is no contamination!!!!!! My order is a number one protein style no onion or spread or tomatoes with animal style fries no onion no spread. Then ask for a couple spread packets and you’re good!
I am on an AIP diet. Potatoes are not AIP unless you have reintroduced. I find that a burger protein style, pickles only works for me. The staff no matter where you knows what you’re asking. Because they only make fries and only use fresh potatoes they slice themselves I don’t have an issue with them.
Burger is fine. I had the double double on a lettuce wrap. YOU MUST get the animal style fries. They are good at lettuce wrapping though, stayed together way better than any other place I’ve eaten.
The staff understood straight away when I explained that my daughter was coeliac and labelled both her burger and fries order as gluten free. The In N Out chain was our go to throughout our tour of California. It’s much tastier than other burger chains!
The protein style burgers come wrapped in lettuce which makes them 100% GF. Unfortunately after I eat a double, I'm still hungry. The fries are cooked in the same oil as everything else. Which contaminates them and makes them NOT GF (gluten free). They taste bland anyway. I have Celiac's disease and only thing I can eat here are the protein style burgers.
I mention *gluten allergy* at every In-n-Out and they are good about it each time. They denote it on the order and shout it aloud in the kitchen. I order it protein style with no spread (not safe for celiacs). I love that fries are celiac safe on their own. I’m not really missing the bun much so In-n-Out is always one of my favorites.
Let them know you have a gluten allergy and they have a special button on the cash register, alerting the kitchen staff to use their dedicated handling procedures. If you are not familiar with their menu options, ask for help ordering and even when they are busy, they will assist you. To get a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, order your burger protein style. They only cook fries in their fryer (no breaded products) so there is no cross contamination issue. They will give you spread in takeout packets so there is no issue with contaminated utensils or dispensers. I frequent this location and others since safe “fast food” is hard to find when traveling.
I ordered my double double animal style protein style (lettuce Wrap) burger. The person who took my order informed me that the spatula they use for the buns they use for the grilled onions. I was very surprised and I asked her to leave the onions off. I was afraid of cross contamination.
I normally love their food but when I went in Friday I guess somehow someone along the line still cross-contaminated cuz my hubs got really sick after I brought him home a burger 😝
Other locations seem to be significantly better, but despite specifying a gluten allergy when I've ordered I've gotten quite sick 100% of the times I've eaten at this location. They have failed to note the "allergy" on my order after I've specified it at least once, and they have packaged my "gluten-allergy" food in the same bags with buns, etc. I think I'll stick to other locations that seem to understand how to handle gluten sensitivity issues better. I'm writing this review in the middle of the night because I ate dinner here and am now up all night sick.
They have dedicated friers, which is amazing. They grill their patties on a different grill than their buns. The food is decent, but I like some other fast food restaurants better. The service is great though!
You can have burger and fries, but they don't seem really informed about how to avoid cross contamination!
Got a burger Protein Style and regular fries. I explained that I couldnt have any bread touch my food, not even a crumb and they said they would cook it all on a different area away from the rest of the food. I could kind of see what was going on in the back and it looked like there was only one guy who touched my food. When he was done making my burger and needed to get my fries, he didnt even set my tray down with the other burgers, he held it the whole time to make sure it didnt touch any other food. I was a little sad that I couldnt get my favorite item on the menu, animal style fries (the onions touch buns) but everything was still super delicious!
This location can get busy and I sometimes wonder how careful they are. My double-double protein style with spread passed Nima sensor and no problems.Love the gluten free protocol all locations seem very careful, even if you use the drive thru and slow everything down.
This location seems a little more careful. Order double-double with onions protein style with spread. No problems ever and Nima sensor passed!
We eat here every time we pass through Lancaster - two or three times a month. We have yet to get sick here and have only ever gotten sick once at an In-N-Out, which is impressive since it’s the only place my DH trusts when traveling. We feel so comfortable in their assembly line set up that we don’t feel the need go into the celiac spiel at time of ordering. DH gets the Flying Dutchman (two patties with cheese in the middle). Their website lists the allergen website for their other products. Well worth it for the peace of mind.
Since five is the fold standard where almost everything can be made gluten free, im giving in n out a 4. They do not have a gluten free bun. But their fries are awesome...and so are the protein style burgers. Great place for gf...but they need to get a gf bun.
I used to get sick here. But now I know you can specify if you have an allergy. Which I do now, and not get sick. I get the lettuce wrap and fries. I do however take the extra, extra precaution, of not having grilled onions just in case., & I always get spread from the packets rather then them putting it on. I don’t get sick at all this way.
Asked for a cheeseburger protein style for an allergy and they immediately asked "gluten allergy?". They yelled it out and put it on the ticket. I got the animal style fries too. Everything was so yummy and I didn't feel sick despite it being extremely indulgent food. Would love to have this place back in Canada.
I go here all the time. I think the biggest thing is to make sure the staff knows you have a gluten allergy. Otherwise, there's a pretty high risk of CC. I recently had a friend pick up some food for us, and ordered the protein style burger, like I always do. And I got sick for the first time. Later, I found out that they don't take as many precautions against CC unless you specifically state that you have a gluten allergy. So make sure to tell them, and make sure it's marked on the ticket. When I do that, I've never had a problem here.
Yummy burgers and fries and shakes. Be careful because there is another in n out location in Vegas with bad reviews. This location takes things seriously. Separate grill. Person doing fries just does fries and nothing else is fried there. Let them know gluten allergy.
Never had a problem! Just say gluten allergy and get it protein style! Fries are so good
Remember to tell the person who takes your order that they need to add a gluten allergy to every item that you order. The only thing with gluten here is the buns. They just need to keep your food separate. Order fries, they’re gf!
