This place was strange fusion of Mexican meets Japanese sushi, that being said I found a few options for me that were marked gluten free that were good! I did not get sick. They had Gluten free tamari with a blue cap but not clearly marked so I was a bit skeptical that it was truly GF tamari but it was okay. Overall good- I’d go again but not my top choice for sushi.
I’ve eaten here twice on two different trips to Seattle and it’s genuinely the best sushi i’ve had in my life. They have a variety of selections for GF sushi and are very good about allergies also. When I ordered no avocado on a roll they immediately asked if it was an allergy and were very accommodating when I said yes and they made notes on me being celiac, AND brought Kikkoman GF soy sauce to the table without me asking! Such a fantastic experience every single time.
Loved everything from this place. Is my second favorite restaurant in Seattle. There are many things that can be made gluten free. I love the salmon and tuna sashimi and the edamame. They have gluten free soy sauce and it is pretty good. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about gluten allergies. I love coming to this restaurant. Definitely recommend it!!!!!
EDIT: returned for dinner and was told additional information this time. The skin on skin roll listed on the gluten free menu is NOT truly gluten free. The salmon skin is fried in shared oil. The crispy rice with tuna on the appetizer menu is also prepared in shared oil.
Original review: They have a separate gluten free menu which has a good variety of options, mostly rolls. The dessert menu is not marked but they confirmed the sherbet and mochi are gluten free (didn’t ask about others). They have gluten free soy sauce in a bottle. The food is not marked, but they said which item was gluten free when they brought it to the table. It’s mostly the sauces that they omit from the rolls in order to make it gluten free.
Eaten here several times now and have not gotten sick at all! They are very knowledgeable about what is gluten free and what is not. They also will ask if it is a preference or an allergy. If it’s an allergy they let the kitchen know to change gloves, etc. they also have gf soy sauce. Not a ton of options listed as gf on the menu, but in my experience the servers can help you navigate the menu to ensure what you want can be made gf. I love it here!
The waiter let me know that the staff will change gloves and get a new roll mat when making our rolls. GF listed on the physical menu (but not the QR code electronic menu for COVID). Ingredients for all rolls are listed and the waiter was down to make anything we wanted gluten free. The miso soup is NOT GF even though it is listed that way on the menu. Great food!
As of today, a lot of the GF things on the menu are spicy, but I’m sure they’d adapt them if that’s an issue for you.
Had a good experience, felt well afterwards. Visiting from Colorado I thought the fish was excellent. Was provided a list of gluten free items on a laminated sheet, which included rolls, with the spicy Diablo(/a?) and the Seattle rolls as standouts. As another review noted there is a crab option/California roll. I also had the miso soup, which was a treat. Tamari provided in its own bottle. Training seems to be in place, because as items were brought to our table, servers noted those that were gluten free. No fried items available.
The waitress knew exactly what rolls on the menu could be altered to be gluten free. She checked with me if there were any other allergies the chef should be aware of. Great place!
