Staff rocks. They now have a gluten free bun and take all precautions to not cross-contaminate! They wipe, lay down new sheets, even put on new gloves. Best part, they give no attitude about the steps needed to insure safety of it! Couldn’t be happier. We will be visiting often!
GF bread by udis is awesome! Use the app and change bread, pay 1.50 upcharge but totally worth it! It is always ready when I walk in the door.
Amazing staff!! They said they go above and beyond what corporate requires as far as keeping everything safe and they meant it. They changed gloves, wiped everything down, used a lined tray to take my gluten-free sub through the line. They used a separate knife and a separate bottle of mayo. Super nice guys who totally get it!
They were careful about cross contamination when making our gluten free sub by a glove and prep space change but didn’t clean slicer or open a new meat or cheese. And then another server wrapped the sandwich at the end without a glove change. My celiac son ended up getting sick. They do sell pre-packed Udis gluten free cookies though.
Staff was incompetent. They were insulted when I question their cross-contamination habits. Person slicing turkey handled bread before slicing turkey, proceeded to tell me they only change gloves when they touch the gluten-free bread. Manager proceeded to speak very loudly, 3 times they cannot guarantee 100% gluten-free. That “everything in there has touched gluten”!! Was glutenized!! Not accommodating even for gluten intolerant. Celiac’s beware!
I never get sick from eating here. Staff is very attentive and immediately changes gloves and tells all other staff to be aware my order is GF so they don’t cross contaminate. They do ask if allergy or preference. I have allergy but not celiac.
Friendly service. Takes cross contamination seriously. Delicious subs
If you tell them you have a gluten allergy, they wipe down the meat slicer, change their gloves, and make your sandwich on wrapping paper, use the squeeze mayo, special knife, etc. They also have the sub in a tub option if you don't want the Udis GF buns. And they have Udis GF Snickerdoodles! I like that I can watch them to make sure they are careful, which they always have been so far. Never gotten sick.
Absolutely! They are trained well when they see a person like myself order GF. The best Udis Giant option bread too! I am a repeat customer. They have Udis Giant size and Regular size options. They also use separate utensils when preparing the sandwich and gloves. I can order off my app GF or call in. They are fantastic and take GF customers seriously!
4 stars for the actual sandwich, not the prep! So overall, their preparation is very celiac-friendly! They have a separate knife for the Udi's gluten-free subs they use, they use paper so that the bread doesn't get contaminated on their prep line, and they change their gloves. The meats and sandwich toppings are all great as well! The bread, though... It's so dense and I always find my jaw hurting from all the chewing I find myself having to do! Overall a great experience but I wish the bread was better!
Please don't eat here if you have celiac!! So many opportunities for cross-contamination even if they say they do their best to avoid it. I haven't eaten here (and won't) because I know I will regret it.
There is always going to be a risk of CC when you eat at a sub shop, however the crew did a great job cleaning and whipping down the areas to prevent as much as possible. They also have procedures for gluten free posted on the wall so it seems to be part of their training. The philly cheesecake was great and I did not have issues after.
I asked what precautions they take. He said they have a separate slicer in the back but they use all of the ingredients like tomatoes, onions, and lettuce from the same prep area as the gluten bread. That area was covered in bread ends and crumbs. No way this place is safe to eat.
When we first entered I said we needed a gluten free sandwich, he said is it an allergy? When I said yes he said let’s do everything else first. He then proceeded to make my sons regular sandwich cut the bread then grabbed the chunk of cheese to cut, with his glutenous hand. When I asked if he used different cheeses or meats to make the gluten free sandwiches he said no. I pointed out that by handling the cheese with bread covered hands he was contaminating the cheese and meat. Apologized but said that’s just what they do.
Paige was absolutely amazing! I have celiac and she made sure that I was completely taken care of.... she actually has celiac too. Also not to mention this girl knows how to take care of customers. My husband and I are moving to the area and will definitely make this our usual shop! Thank you Paige !!!!
Staff changes gloves and cleans surfaces before preparing food. Never had an issue eating here.
I haven’t eaten at a sandwich shop in years because of fears of cross contamination, but after reading the reviews for Jersey Mike’s, I decided to give it a shot. I had no issues at all, and the sandwich was delicious. Rolls are packaged to keep them safe, and it was pretty great bread. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Cleaned everything and used parchment paper. Used separate mayo so cross contamination wouldn’t occur. Amazing!!!!
The staff was very nice and educated on gluten free and cross contamination. James, a training technician for new stores, informed the entire staff of what needed to be to done to accommodate my gluten free diet. He even had some staff take orders from other customers at the other end of the counter. I felt very safe ordering from here and was extremely pleased with the staff and service here. They also have prepackaged Udi’s cookies! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
Jersey Mike’s is always so good to me when I come in. If you let them know it is an allergy or illness vs preference they wipe down and sanitize the deli slicer, change their gloves, clean the whole work space, use dedicated knives to cut the bread, and ensure the sandwich is kept on a tray to avoid any cross contact. Their GF bread is also kept wrapped in the back so that it is no where near the regular bread. Definitely recommended coming here!
The gluten free bread is actually really good & doesnt have that weird texture that moist gf bread has. The staff went out of their way to use fresh gloves, clean/different knives, & prepared our sandwiches in different & covered surfaces for no cross contamination. They were obviously very well trained!
They definitely seem to know what they’re doing. When you order, the gluten free sub rolls (Udi’s) are individually wrapped, they clean the counter and slicer, and cover the counter with paper. They also use a clean knife for everything. I can’t say this is 100% celiac safe because there’s definitely still a small risk of CC, but I’m a celiac and I’ve never gotten sick eating here. The fact they have Udi’s snickerdoodles available is an added bonus.
Staff is nice but I’ve gotten sick every time I eat here 😢 if I wasn’t so obsessed with Jersey Mike’s I would be wise enough to just stop eating here. Not nearly enough precautions to avoid cross contamination.
