I was fairly disappointed while at this location, the staff was very rude and wasn’t very knowledgeable about gluten free and didn’t wipe down their equipment very well. I have celiac disease and didn’t feel comfortable eating at THIS establishment. This establishment wasn’t very good but I’ve been to others that have been much better
This location was the first time I’ve gotten sick from Jersey Mike’s since my diagnosis. The sandwich ingredients were all safe but still got sick. They are knowledgeable and do their best but it was a def reminder about how important cross contamination is.
The staff was very contentious making my sandwich. Cleaned the deli slicer, used the bottled mayo, and kept my sandwich on paper and a separate cutting board. Gloves were switched once I asked for gluten free bread.
BEST SUB SPOT for Celiac! The manager is super knowledgeable. She cleans the machine, makes everyone change gloves, the Udi’s bread comes in a plastic wrap, and she uses a separate mayonnaise container. They also have Udi’s cookies for sale! Love this spot, recommend for all my Celiac people looking for a good sub.
We are new to Celiac, and we’re new to ordering for Celiac. We went here because we knew they had gluten-free buns, and we knew that they would clean the machine. My daughter explained that she had Celiac, they promptly cleaned the slicing machine, and then both girls on the line changed their gloves after washing their hands. Her sandwich was placed on brand new paper, and then she ordered her toppings, and it wasn’t until we got into the car that I realized that all of the toppings had been contaminated. They didn’t get new toppings from the refrigerator, they used them straight off the line that they had used for everyone. The bread was so thick that my daughter choked on it. We probably won’t be back.
The staff knew bread had Gluten. There were signs on the wall of how they should handle gluten free order. I ordered my sandwich as a salad. I reacted before ever leaving the place. Cross contamination from no knife switch or glove change.
Gluten free sub rolls and the staff took very special care to avoid cross contamination by changing gloves and using separate knife to cut the bread. The staff was very kind and happy to be accommodating. Food was nice and fresh. So excited to have another lunch option that is safe for me!
I have celiac disease and was excited to see the good reviews. However, while waiting in line, I did not think this was a safe place to eat. Although everyone was wearing gloves, it was the same pair for every order. Including grabbing regular bread, and then reaching for all the toppings. I saw someone put a slice of cheese back. Even if they wiped the counters, it’s directly where the cut and prepare the subs so there a huge chance of cross contamination.
Staff is knowledgeable on gluten free prep. They have separate gluten free workspace and take the time to answer any questions you may have. Gluten free buns are Udi brand. Recommend to try the “sub in a tub” with no bread!
Great experiences here. Updating my original 5 star review because we eat here regularly, they ALWAYS clean equipment fresh for my sub, have a separate area and knife for gluten free bread, and it's just nice for a restaurant to respect those of us with gluten free needs.
Whenever you order at a counter, there’s risk for cross contamination, but the staff takes great care to change gloves, wipe down the counters and use a new knife for gluten free sandwiches. I’ve been over a dozen times and have felt good afterwards.
Probably the best one I've had. It is the best!!!!
This place was awesome! They checked if it was an allergy, when we said yes she stopped everything, changed gloves, sanitized the slicer and counter then changed gloves again, and proceeded to make the sandwiches. They have a knife designated to only slice the GF bread (it had a blue handle instead of black) it was kept in a bin with the GF bread. They even offered udi’s GF cookies. I highly recommend this place!
Staff was courteous and handled my order with care. The person who took my order had gluten intolerance and assured me all precautions were taken to avoid CC. Sandwich was large and satisfying as well as quite tasty
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. It was super busy but they were efficient. Sandwich was good. A great surprise!
I have been in here multiple times and they are very knowledgeable about GF and cross contamination. I always order the tuna sandwich and they bring out a new knife and spreader. If it is busy, they will clean the different surfaces and then make my sandwich on a separate surface.
I have to say I never thought I'd be writing a review for a sub shop, but they definitely know what they're doing here. Bread comes sealed, gloves change and they will make your sandwich in the back with all ingredients form the back. It's rare I find places without any cross contamination, but these guys nailed it.
I was told that the only thing gluten free was the gluten free bun/bread. Meaning, they told me the meat, cheese, condiments, and fixings were not gluten free. What is the point of having gluten free bread if the stuff that goes on the bread isn't gf? I highly doubt celiac individuals are rushing here just to purchase an udis sandwich roll.
I tried the Jersey Mike’s gluten free bread today for the first time. I was surprised to see it was Udi’s but In a good way. The bread was sealed in a bag and I had the option for a 6” or 14”. Before they made the sandwich they asked if GF was a preference or allergy. I said allergy and they said they would have to wipe everything down and it would be a few mins. They wiped the the entire table down and the meat slicer thoroughly before they made the sandwich. Pretty sweet. Over all the sandwich was fantastic and I had no issues.
Edgar Cole is SO clean and professional. Loved my #55. He washed his hands, the grill and cutting boards. VERY THOROUGH. I will eat here tomorrow to take a Jersey Mike’s sub to the Coca Cola 600
This may be my new go- to placd for easy gluten-free options. I love the gf sub bun. I was so excited when I saw their sign advertising that they now have gluten-free buns! I'll be back many times even though it's far from my home.
First visit & im impressed! Didn’t have to educate. All I had to say was I need gluten-free because I have Celiac. Out came a clean tray with paper on it. I was assured the slicer that slices meat & cheese wasn’t used for anything with gluten. Man at counter knew his stuff! I’ll be back again & again!!!! So happy to be able to order just about anything on the menu AND get a cookie!!!! Yay!
