I eat here weekly. The staff is knowledgeable. They do have separate area for prep and separate condiments. I have Celiac and trust this place.

I was visiting the area and was confident walking in because they are great at the one near where I live. They clearly showed no understanding of cross contamination and looked puzzled when I questioned what they were doing (not using different meats/slicer). If you are celiac avoid at all costs. Not to mention it was also unclean.

Staff was very cautious! Separate prep area in the back and cleaned off slicer and changed gloves.
Yes
They use the same slicer for all of the meats. They do not have a dedicated GF prep area. They use the same dressings (mayo, mustard, etc).
I was the only one in the store so I was able to chat with them one on one. They are not setup here to handle GF at all.
Other than the GF bun, nothing else is GF.
If you’re celiac AVOID this location which is too bad because I know other Jersey Mike’s have dedicated GF prep areas.
This review is only about their prep and cross-contamination, not the quality of the food.

They have a sign that they serve Udi's gluten free buns now. They wiped down equipment, used a dedicated knife, and changed gloves for me, which was nice. I was able to get a 6" but the bun is $1 extra
I’ve been newly diagnosed with Celiacs, and this has been the first restaurant that has offered a substitute product so that I can actually have the same options of food as everyone else. The safe was very knowledgeable and even used a different mayonnaise container instead of using the knife to spread that they use on other subs, and used a different knife to slice the bread!

I've been to multiple Jersey Mike's without issue. I am extremely sensitive to gluten, so I appreciate being able to eat good subs again. Today I had an experience with a trainee who started to use the regular mayo (gluten free toppings are in a special area). The other employees immediately stopped her and walked her through the process of making a gluten free sub, stressing the importance of no cross contamination. If they didn't have my business already, this sealed the deal. Thank you to the Pelican Square staff!
Yes
Staff was very knowledgeable with gluten sensitivity and cleaned down the counters, wiped off the meat slicer, used a new knife as well as changing gloves through out the making of my sub. Gluten free roll was also very good!
Yes
Extremely conscientious about allergens and cross contamination. They cleaned the equipment before making my sandwich. Tasty.
Yes
Bun was very good. Everything was wiped down. They changed gloves. Used separate mayo. You can watch them make your food. I would definitely eat there again.
Yes
Food was great, but I suggest not ordering online and watching them make sub. Roll was great, they changed their gloves and use a new knife but they didn’t wipe counter where regular rolls are cut and then just wrapped my sub in the paper that was on that counter with tons of crumbs. Also, I got oil, but I wonder if they have separate mayo? Just depends on your level of sensitivity, but they did show concern and food is good. I’ll eat there again, but will maybe ask for them to use a different counter or wipe off the regular one. I went on a busy weekend lunch, so didn’t want to be an extra pain in the a** ;) Other Celiacs I know had told me they did wipe counter and change gloves for them so maybe it was just because they were busy. So good, didn’t make me sick, but lots of possible cross contamination so be careful.
Staff was good. Bread was a little dry, but it’s gluten free bread. So happy I can have subs again!
They don’t offer a kid’s gluten free sandwich so I had to buy my daughter an adult sandwich. However she loved the bread. She had the tuna. The staff were knowledgeable and took proper precautions.

This location (on University) does not follow the gluten-free protocol! I go to Jersey Mikes often as a safe option while traveling. Today, I ordered a GF sub (specifying for an allergy) and the manager instructed the employee to make it on the regular slicer so they wouldn’t have to clean the gluten free one again. I asked if he could please use the GF slicer, and he did… without changing his gloves. Then, he carried it over to the regular line and used the non-GF knife and veggies. I asked if he could please use the separate GF area that was all set up and he said “this was how they always do the GF orders.” The manager and other employees saw this and did not say anything. I did not eat my sub.

Called ahead to verify that they have gluten free bread, which they do. Awesome! When I got there the place was super busy, and I almost left out of fear that I would slow the process down even more. Decided to stay and give it a chance. The person at the meat slicer wiped down the area and slicer when I told him I needed everything gluten free. He was amazing about it. I had to ask them to grab fresh ingredients from the back though, because the person adding the toppings just wanted to use what was up front. They weren’t thrilled with getting stuff from the back, but they did do it. Overall it was a decent experience.

Great celiac-safe protocols. When I mentioned “gluten free” the staff immediately changed their gloves, used a separate knife, and put paper down to avoid contact with the cutting board. They also have Udi’s snickerdoodle cookies!

They have GF sub sandwich rolls! Possible cross contamination but they were careful in preparation. My sandwich was the best Ive had in such a long time! It’s so nice to be able to have a ’normal’ meal along with the rest of my family! They also have an option to make your sandwich a meal with a drink and chips or even an individually packaged GF udis cookie!
