I really question where all these good reviews come from. I had the chicken broccoli ziti (GF) and it was horrible. I couldn’t finish it. Furthermore, it was way too expensive for what it was. Bad service, bad environment/decor, overall pretty bad experience. They did have a manager bring out my meal and it was definitely GF, it was just awful. Wouldn’t even recommend for non-GF eaters. There are plenty of other places around to eat that have good GF options I hate salads but I regret not going elsewhere to just have a salad.
American Joe's restaurants are hands down one of mg favorite places for GF/dairy-free meals. They offer an extensive GF menu, Udi's bread products, GF penne and dedicated fryers. The staff and management are extremely knowledgeable about allergies. I've eaten at this location 10+ times without incident, and recommend Joe's to anyone with a gluten allergy!
great service, good options, good food.
We ate at Joe's American Bar while in Boston for the marathon weekend. Table staff was very friendly and reviewed the many GF options. The restaurant manager brought my meal to our table indicating that it had been prepared GF. The meal was perfect and very enjoyable.
They have strict allergy protocols, it's a scratch kitchen, and everything tastes so amazing. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly.
There's not too much on the menu to choose from that IS GF. They have gluten free pasta and bread but a lot of the ingredients within the sandwiches and burgers aren't GF.
Staff is very knowledgeable and food is always brought out by a manager which is very reassuring. Delicious food, the pasta is always cooked perfectly
I had one rough incident a few years ago where the waitress didn't communicate the allergy to the chef, and served me an appetizer that wasn't gluten free. My entire family ate free that night because of how sick I was going to get from their mistake. I have never had a single problem since then, and it's my go-to restaurant. They ALWAYS send the manager out with my food to confirm that it's gluten free. I'm a big fan of their fish sandwich and their portobello sandwich. They're able to make their fries gluten free, which is always a plus. Highly recommend for a good gluten free restaurant with plenty of options!
Went for the burger and fries. The GF bun was tasty, and a dedicated fryer made the fries safe.
Excellent food and very cautious and aware of allergies! Can not wait to come back here again! The burgers and fries are wonderful!
They pay special attention to gluten free needs and every time I've been a manager has always brought my meal out comforting me that it's gluten free. They also have gluten free rolls which is a great treat!
I felt at home and really felt like I could trust the people serving the food. I would defiantly go back again. They even had bread for me to eat that was gluten free! I don't normally get things like that at restaurants.
They offer gluten free pasta and gluten free buns. They told me the pasta is all cooked separate and that they have a separate fryer for the fries!
great attention to detail. love this place!
very good options and attentive to food allergies.
I work near there and go on break to get their gf food as frequently as I can. They have an AWESOME gf menu. I have never gotten sick from eating there. Their burgers and sweet potato fries are to die for. Their salads are even great and I'm not a big salad person. I guess I had been chatting with the district manager while I was waiting for my to go about how fantastic their gf menu is and didn't know it. Next time I came in the waitress said he'd said my next meal was on the house. So I left (having been having a crappy day) with an amazing gf dinner for free. I love this restaurant. Nicest staff. Best food.
Love this place. The attention to gluten free is fantastic. Managers come by and confirm, giving me peace of mind.
Previously had good experiences with good food. During our last visit, we discovered a regular noodle in Our gluten free pasta dish. The Manager could not explain how it got there but was apologetic. Thankfully my kid noticed it before eating. May not go there again.
Always enjoy our visit here. The GF bun was ok. I really enjoyed the Devilish eggs. Our waitress, Heba, and the rest of the staff were super friendly and helpful. She made sure to ask if I wanted the GF fries instead of the wedges when I ordered the GF option.
The GF menus were being reprinted, but my server said she would double-check my order with the kitchen and explained that the restaurant had GF bread and a completely separate fryer. My food was hand-delivered by the chef so there were no mix-ups, an extra step I really appreciate. The server even brought me a toasted GF roll when she brought regular bread for my husband. Excellent experience and tasty food—I would definitely eat there again.
Found Joe's American Bar and Grill on "Find Me Gluten Free" but was a little concerned about "no gluten free menu" comments from other posters. Checked the restaurant home page and it specifically mentioned "gluten free" so decided to give it a try. As soon as I told our exceptional waitress - mad that I have forgotten her name - that I couldn't have any gluten; she immediately replaced my menu with a gluten free one! It is very similar to the version online with the main change - Gluten Free Bread. I did notice that The Crispy Calamari was not included and the crispy onion straws were not on "The Cure" but very similar. My meal was very good - even delivered by the chef who described it as "gluten free meal" so I had no concern that there was any food mix up - we all ordered burgers. I couldn't taste the others but they said it was very good. The serving staff were very attentive but did not hover. Over all a great experience and I will go there again.
They are great with cooking gf for people with Celiac or allergies here! I was a bit concerned because we got there late and it was really busy. The chef brought out our food personally and even came out and apologized for the wait when he decided to remake our nachos when he thought they weren't up to his standards. The nachos were fabulous as were the burger and the ribs and we had no reactions.
Had my birthday dinner there last night after reading the reviews here. I was impressed to see how knowledgeable the staff was. They pretty much can do everything GF. GF buns, GF pasta, dedicated fryer. I had the Filet with sweet potatoe fries and spinach. And they got me the creme brulee as birthday dessert. Everything was delicious, I highly recommend it 😁
American Joe's restaurants are hands down one of mg favorite places for GF/dairy-free meals. They offer an extensive GF menu, Udi's bread products, GF penne and dedicated fryers. The staff and management are extremely knowledgeable about allergies. I've eaten at this location 5+ times without incident. I'd recommend Joe's to anyone visiting Legacy Place next door or traveling by on 95!
American Joe's restaurants are hands down one of mg favorite places for GF/dairy-free meals. They offer an extensive GF menu, Udi's bread products, GF penne and dedicated fryers. The staff and management are extremely knowledgeable about allergies. I've eaten at this location 20+ times with only one incident, which I was able to detect when the meal was served. I've never been sick after eating here, and would recommend this location to anyone with a gluten allergy!
American Joe's restaurants are hands down one of mg favorite places for GF/dairy-free meals. They offer an extensive GF menu and have local bread (this location only, not dairy-free), Udi's bread products, GF penne and dedicated fryers. The staff and management are extremely knowledgeable about allergies, and I'd recommend this location to anyone in the city!
I read great reviews about this place, so we decided to try it. I was not disappointed, our server was so knowledgeable and the manager even came over several times to answer all our questions about the menu. They were very careful and the rolls were delicious.
Great! So many gf options. GF buns. Separate fryer for fries. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Weird thing is - no gf menu or even gf notes on menu - BUT they are as GF friendly as any place I have been. Normally no menu - we are out - but comments here on this site convinced me to give it a shot- glad we did!
Meticulous on details even on what could be argued was the busiest day of the year. Everything is from scratch so they even pan seared calamari for us with aeoli for dipping. Gluten free buns before the meal. Designated fryer delivered regular fries and sweet potato fries that were perfect! Two burgers on gluten free buns, one was the the 'cure'- served with ribs and an egg on top, and one classic cheese- perfectly medium rare. My southwest salad was delicious too. Thank you for making our Boston family meal easy and tasty.
Our server claimed their restaurant was #1 in Allergy-friendly practices in the city. The restaurant itself was CRAZY crowded, but we were assured they're well-versed in GF cooking. Fries are prepped in a dedicated fryer, which was great. I got a rack of ribs and our daughter got chicken/broccoli and penne in a garlic cream sauce. Our meals were excellent. Bread came out ahead of our meal...it was a grill-top toasted hamburger bun, but it was fresh and warm, so no complaints there! To bolster my confidence in the meal being safe, it was a pleasant surprise to have had our meals delivered by the chef personally. Really great experience!!
Friendly staff. Wonderful deviled eggs with a sweet, crunchy bacon. I'm gluten-free due to severe allergies, the staff was familiar with their menu and the GF options. Even brought us some GF bread and butter. Fries were crispy and made in a dedicated fryer.
they were so nice and accommodating! first, they vaguely told me that almost the whole menu could be made gluten free. I asked if that included the fried chicken. I wasn't expecting them to have gluten free flour and sure enough they did not. but the waiter was so nice and willing to ask the kitchen about it to make sure. I went with a Burger with sweet potato fries. yum! the sweet potato fries were amazing! the Burger was very good too and the bun was nice and not crumbly.
I came here with my family (party of 11) for my college graduation dinner. Even with a large group, our waiter was calm and collected while accommodating my GF diet and honey allergy. He brought out separate chips and guac for my starter. He checked and told me that the GF rolls had honey in them (nice catch!) but I opted for a burger and fries anyway, despite having many other options. The sweet potato fries were delicious! GF dessert options were limited, but I did enjoy their ice cream, and I felt OK afterwards!
Amazing options! Our waiter informed me that 75 % of the menu can be made gluten free. They have a separate fryer and the manager made sure everything was made properly and then hand delivered my plate to me. I don't typically love chain restaurants, but I will definitely be back.
I would have given this place a 5-star rating and a glowing review, but the last time I went it was clear they were not going to bend over backwards for celiacs. I will say the food is tasty and they are safe, but they no longer have proper dinner rolls (they will bring a toasted hamburger bun) and the gluten free selection dropped quite a bit.
I have never written before but felt this was important because when I emailed the restaurant I got no response. I asked hostess for GF menu and was told there was a separate section in the menu. When I looked though the menu, there was no such section. I asked the waitress and she flipped through the menu, confused, and said there used to be..she then proceeded to tell me about GF bread and pasta and to ask about other items. I ordered the ribs and sweet potato fries after I was assured the sauce was GF and that they use separate oil for allergy requests. The food was good, but was surprised not to be visited by a manager as is typical at most restaurants. Turns out, I had a very definite reaction to the food. I know eating out is at my own risk and I do not hold the restaurant responsible. However, the staff (hosting, server, chef) need to be better educated about this issue. I wrongly assumed they would want to know that this happened. .but again..no response. I will not eat here again.
