Has GF options, ask for gf toast not to be put in the toaster as there is cross contamination
Not the best experience, compared to previous visit. Just getting seated was an ordeal. Figured if the team was not on the same accord for seating, the chances of getting my order correct was questionable
They have a decent amount of GF options, they're a little expensive but it's not really news.
Toast, French toast, pancakes, waffles (not available as of writing this).
Staff was knowledgeable when I asked questions, very friendly. Had no issues. Will be frequenting this place.
The GF pancakes were really good. Unfortunately, about 20 mins after I left I started getting a burn in my belly and an hour later all of my fingers looked like breakfast sausage. We went went they were busy and I’m not sure if they had the time to double/triple check everything was safe. It may be okay for those without severe reactions, I just don’t know if I will go back anytime soon.
Super nice place. Very quick with service. Got two eggs over medium with bacon and fruit and I could have gotten gluten free toast or pancakes so I get the pancakes. I told them I have celiac and our waitress was very great she personally brought me my pancakes ( they were small but good) I overall felt great about the food and everything tasted great. I did not get sick from food so that says a lot.
I was definitely skeptical that a place called Jonny Cakes could actually cook gf. The waitress told us they had gf bread and she would circle my order on the menu and cook staff would make sure everything was separate. She asked a few smart questions to make sure she understood and told me that they make a specific effort to cook for allergies. I had gf French toast and wow it was really good! I need to find out where they get their gf bread because it was so good I got skeptical again. Right before our food came out, someone swung by our table to ask "is powdered sugar and whipped cream ok?" yes of course, but I was really impressed that they made that extra effort. The waitress came by to ask again if everything was ok, and I asked, this is the gf bread, right? And she said she had double triple checked to make sure.
So I would say.. It's diner food, but it's actually better than cheap diner food, and as far as I could tell they did a really good job keeping things gf for me.
I also appreciated that she wasn't weirded out by us praying before we ate.
