This place is great as there isn’t a ton of other options in the area. The owner’s daughter has celiac so they are very knowledgeable and all the GF options are clearly marked. I wish they had a couple more non-meat options, but anything I’ve had here is delicious and most importantly, safe!
I went here based on the reviews and I was not impressed with the wings. Fortunately they were indeed GF, I had no reaction. However the wings were not fresh, were a little hard, had a day old kind of taste and feel. Also the Buffalo sauce was too sweet. The fries were good and fresh but needed salt
Excellent!! Delicious pub food and very aware of celiac. We ordered takeout - potato skins, burger & fries, shepherds pie, salad - all were delicious. Their awareness is excellent - someone from the restaurant even called me to be sure one item in our order didn’t have to be GF. Highly recommend!!
This was my second time here in the last year. This is a rare pub food gem for Celiac's. Last time I had Chicken Scarp, which is something I have not had in many years before diagnosis, it was excellent and exactly how I remember. This time we had the potato skins, burger with fries, and a chili dish to go. I tested each item with my Nima Sensor and no gluten found. Really loved the chili, just a little spicy and served with tortilla chips. Separate fryer, and a great understanding of Celiac. Feel safe here and enjoy a great meal!
JP Doyle’s is my go to place for GF. I have been coming here for years and eat here almost every week and have never once had an issue. The owners’ wife/daughter have celiac, the staff are absolutely amazing and accommodating. The food is so good, I get gluten free chicken tacos on Taco Tuesdays, guacamole and chips, and French fries. The Buffalo chicken strips appetizer is gluten free and absolutely delicious and they are enough to eat as a meal. The chicken scarp is another fantastic meal, we like to order a half tray of it to bring home to eat and have as leftovers. The salads and soups are great as well. They have a large outdoor patio to eat outside if preferred (bar inside and outside)
An establishment that understands celiac featuring many dishes that are traditionally not gluten free or cross contaminated at other restaurants like potato skins, homemade tortilla chips with spinach and avocado dip and boneless Buffalo chicken strips. Friendly staff, dedicated fryer and nice atmosphere.
What a great place to eat gluten free food. We had delicious wings, a chicken sandwich on a non collapsible bun which was so tasty along with skinny fries made in a dedicated fryer. We ate indoors but they have a great outside setup with lights and an outdoor bar. The nicest staff and owner. The wife and daughter have celiac so they are very aware of cross contamination and do a terrific job. I can’t wait to return!
My family is gluten free and I had looked at restaurants in the area, prior to going to the pumpkin blaze. We chose this place, because it got great reviews. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. The food was average at best, but what was worse was the customer service. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, and once seated, we waited about 15 minutes for a waitress to come to the table to take a drink order. Even if they came by and said that they were really busy and we will be with you shortly, I would have been ok with that, but nothing! We were completely ignored. It’s not that big of a place, besides an average size bar area...the number of tables were small.
We were weary of the wait, so we put our entire order in immediately. We’ll, it took over 45 minutes just to get our appetizers. The waitress barely even came back to check on us afterward, to see if things were ok, if we wanted another drink, or anything! It was an awful experience and I would never go back to this restaurant, or recommend it to anyone!
The waitress did say they were understaffed. However, I saw the waitresses standing around a lot. If it was so busy, they shouldn’t have had time to stand around and talk to each other so much! I have been to restaurants where the waitresses were so busy, they were running around like chickens with their heads cut off....this wasn’t the case here. This is not a way to run a business, especially not a bar, on a Sunday afternoon when football is on. Do they not expect it to be a little busy?
Great find in Sleepy Hollow. My wife and I are both gluten-free and they have several options including gluten free bread, buns, a separate fryer for fries, etc. Our server, Tara, was very knowledgeable about ciliac disease and pointed out a number of items on the menu that are or can be made gluten free. We had the burgers and they are about the best we've ever had. Not only are the buns gluten free but the burger was hand-made and not frozen. For anyone with ciliac or a gluten sensitivity this is nirvana. Already planning our next visit.
We were lucky enough to find this gem on this very app on the way home from an overnight trip. We’ve been twice since, most recently today for Mother’s Day. The owner’s wife & daughter have celiac and they have a dedicated gf frier and the knowledge of avoiding cross contamination that only comes with the direct knowledge of having a family member (or two!) with celiac. Oh and bonus: the food is delicious! The wait staff is attentive & kind and personable and it’s a joy to eat there. You can find comfort foods here prepared celiac safe that you can rarely if at all find at other places: wings, fries, shepherd’s pie, even French onion soup! Yummmmm. Everyone at my table from child to senior was very happy with their food selections (and I’m the only one with celiac).
The staff here are friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about celiac precautions. I don’t have to go into a whole speech-they just know the drill, which is refreshing. All the gluten free options we have tasted here have been excellent. Theirs are the first chicken tenders my husband has said he couldn’t tell were gluten free, and I will be going back solely for the amazing GF corn bread!!!
A great place to eat for Celiac people like me! Dedicated fryer! GF rolls which are tasty. Owner’s wife and daughter have Celiac, so he gets it! Had a GF open face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies. Very tasty! And I poached some of my husband’s French fries...
The staff is very celiac-aware and took good care of me during a private party. 3 of the entrees were gluten-free and super delicious, plus they had a cheese and charcuterie plate with some of the best cheeses I’ve had in awhile. For dessert, the server got me a slice of their flourless chocolate cake, even though there were other desserts set out for our guests. Most importantly, the staff here listened to my concerns and answered my questions about the menu and were happy to accommodate me - something I rarely experience at restaurants, especially on busy weekends.
I live in the neighborhood and Doyle's is my go-to restaurant. I have celiac and have eaten here dozens of times and have never gotten a smidge of gluten. My two daughters are celiac - one is also dairy-free. Same experience for them. Everything on the menu is delicious and I go when I want french fries or fried chicken because the fryer is truly gluten free.
I can't say enough about the kitchen under Nick Bell's watchful eye or the waitstaff as managed by Bridie. Go, you'll be in good gluten-free hands!
