Went here for breakfast and it was great. Service was quick and food was good. We got some gluten free pancakes with the cherry filling on top. I ended up buying the gluten free pancakes mix to take home! We also got an omelet, sausage isn’t gluten free so we subbed for the ham and it was delicious. The coffee was great and the mugs were so cute!
I go to Julie’s every year for the GLuten Free pancakes!!! So excited to see they sell the mix. I’ll be buying lots.
As for the meals, I’ve only had the breakfast. It’s the only place where I enjoy the eggs, sausage, but I really go for the Gluten Free pancakes.
Actually I also go there for the Gluten Free cherry pie. I not only have 1 that’s made, but I take a couple home unbaked.
The frozen are good baked at home GLuten Free pie- but Julie’s bakes it to perfection.
If you want a fun experience - go there. Outside seating is so pretty it’s right by the entrance to the State Park! Dogs can sit outside with you too. Unless they changed that!
My gf pancakes and bacon were delicious! When I come here I pick the least busy times just to diminish the likelihood of cross contamination. I'm a sensitive celiac so I'm always thrilled and relieved to find a place with good food that I don't have any bad reaction to. Super nice employees too.
The GF pancakes are good, really good. We assumed they were made in a clean area, never had problems. But we ordered online a grilled cheese on GF bread take out with fries and specifically said in the notes it needed to be GF. We actually ordered two, one was GF and the other was normal. When I went to pick it up I asked if the fries were GF and made in a dedicated fryer, she checked with the kitchen then came back and said no. When we got home, the fries were in the same box as the sandwich and dumped on top. Also, the GF box was not labeled so I had to nibble at both sandwiches to figure out which one was GF bread. Hard to watch a hungry kid in tears when you make another trip out for her dinner. Now I wonder if the pancakes are contaminated too.
My daughter has celiac. You need to ask for a GF menu. It has a disclaimer that states they cant guarantee safe food which is disconcerting, however I told my waitress that my daughter has celiac, can they clean the grill before making a GF pancake, do not use shared utensils. Waitress took detailed notes of instructions. My daughter loved her pancakes and she didn't have a reaction.
Separate gluten free menu, staff was knowledgeable and pleasant. Gluten free bread/bun is only .50 extra which is very cheap compared to other places! Had a yummy burger with pulled pork and a flavorful black bean salad! Only wish we had more time to go back and try their breakfast.
We ate lunch there twice in their outdoor seating (during CoVID restrictions) They also offer indoor socially distanced seating) We ate omelets which were delicious with gluten free bread (which was not the best bread —VERY dry) but they had the dedicated toaster so that is good! Great cherry house and cherry mimosas! No cross contamination experienced. The wait staff we had seemed knowledgeable about cross contamination and we thoroughly enjoyed taking home a gluten free cherry pie which was delicious! (Call the day before to order a whole pie) we came back and ordered 2 more frozen ones to take home for Thanksgiving!
They specifically state on their menu that they do not train their staff on Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance. Why even offer gluten-free options then?
After reading on the menu that they do not educate their staff on gluten BUT still decide to advertise a gluten free menu was pretty upsetting. I ordered eggs and sausage and I am not feeling so great today.
Separate GF menu, which includes a disclaimer for Celiac's. Decent amount of options on the menu. Also some GF goodies by the register.
Don't let the warning on the menu scare you off. The waitress who served us along with the owner himself, who came regularly to our table to talk about steps the Cafe takes to safeguard from cross-contamination, were FANTASTIC. They have separate toasters, use separate utensils and pans, and more. Thank you!
I have Celiac Disease so it's always a struggle finding places that are truly gluten free. I came here while on vacation with my wife and had a great food experience. I had a breakfast meal with eggs, bacon, hash brown and gf toast (cooked in a separate gf toaster) with delicious fresh strawberry jam. Great food and wait staff that were accommodating when I told them I had Celiac. No reaction after. Thanks!
CANNOT SAY ENOUGH AWESOME THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!!!!! If you want FRESH, real food, good prices, and a staff that goes out of its way to help with food allergies, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! I had gluten free cherry pie and it is to die-for! What impressed me most is the number of people who went WAY out of their way to make sure that I was eating safely. Will come back here every single time I vacation up this way.
