Staff said they aren’t safe for celiac. I’m so confused by the reviews. The guy may have not wanted to serve me anything because he said a sandwich would take 30 minutes because the oven was off.

Best gluten free sandwich I have had in a long time! Staff is very aware of celiac and take necessary precautions to make sure of no cross contamination. Highly recommend.

Staff very knowledgeable of celiac disease and gluten intolerance. Things are handled seperately, away from gluten. Very careful.

Great place for home made gluten free bread. They have choices!!! Menu is 95% gluten free. They also take recommendations for new items. Just love the music and other events listed on their website. If you have allergens try this place and talk to Kawika. He’s very knowledgeable and puts procedures in place to make sure that cross contamination is kept to a minimum. Expect a big menu!

One of my best ever tasted gluten free sandwiches. Excellent services, lot of choices. Must try! - The celiac girl from Hungary ;)
So fun to have a safe deli sandwich! The staff assured me they are well trained in safe GF prep. GF is marked on the board as well as on a printed menu. I had a warm ham sandwich on their homemade GF multigrain bread and it was delicious. Definitely check this place out.

This place has the best sandwiches! The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free options. The bread is made there and I recommend getting it. It's huge and delicious.
Their housemade gluten-free multigrain bread is hands down the best gluten-free bread I have ever had. Super knowledgeable about allergens... side salads even have a color coded container system for what you can eat. We enjoyed a rotisserie lamb sandwich and a yummy corn & quinoa salad! Extra stars in my book for their Greek and Hawaiian options...Kona Coffee!

What can I say...after days of "interrogating" locations, I walk in, show my GF DF card and "POOF!" everything is understood. The best discovery is their rotisserie meats (lamb, beef and turkey.) Small, cozy, one street off the Great Highway and the Pacific Ocean. Very close to transit.
One of the owners is Celiac and a Functional Medicine Practitioner.
If there was an option for TEN STARS, I'd give Kawika's ten.

Very knowledgeable deli shop. Many gluten free options and they use a separate oven and station for making your sandwich. They know what celiac is and know about any other allergens that are in different items and are very accommodating. The bread is dairy free and they have a lactose free cheese.

As someone with Celiac disease, I struggled to find safe, gluten-free restaurants in the Richmond. This place is 100% safe and takes very strict precautions. The staff is trained very well and gluten-free dishes are prepared separately as well as stored in different platters.
The "Find Me GF" app showed me this deli and I had planned on going for a while. I finally did go while on a date. My friend and I decided to go grab a bite to eat around 7. We arrived at the deli at 7:15 (15 minutes before closing) to discover people drinking and dancing to Frank Sinatra inside. The door was closed and the sign said closed, but the joyful group let us in for a private dinner. They were celebrating Joanne's birthday, but said we were welcome. Delighted, my date and I entered. We noticed Greek flags and asked if the owners were Greek to which they responded "yes!" and gave us samples of homemade tzaziki. Although my date and I were both Greek and are familiar with the Greek spirit, we were both overwhelmed and delighted by the delicious food and great hospitality. I got the gluten-free salmon avocado wrap while my date got the lamb sandwich on sourdough.
My friend and I chatted with David and Joanne for a while and we enjoyed each other's company too. It was a wonderful end to a lovely night. I will definitely be frequenting Ocean Beach Deli again.

Small local deli with seating inside. Friendly staff. Delicious sandwiches. Gluten free bread. Fell apart when heated with corned beef, mustard, and melted Swiss but worth the mess! Reasonably priced.
The owner is gf and makes sure her customers have lots of options. Separate oven and the sandwiches are to die for!

David, the owner, and his staff are so knowledgeable and helpful (and friendly)! Most selections are gluten free. They have gluten free bread made in a special oven onsite. The bread is delicious! Some of the sides are gluten free and are separated to avoid cross contamination. They also offer g/f beer. Can't say enough good things about this place!

The owners wife has celiac disease so he walked me through the menu and told me what I can and cannot (or should not) eat (and actually knew what he was talking about!) I had a delicious sandwich! They even have a separate toaster and section for gluten free orders so I felt completely comfortable eating here with Celiac Disease. Didn't get sick! Great and very knowable staff. I was the only one with Celiac Disease and the other 8 people I was with had normal sandwiches and we all enjoyed it. Great deli :) I would recommend!
