The woman who took my order (inside cafe) didn't seem super willing to explain to me how my order would be kept safe except that it would be so I was a little nervous. But then the person who brought my food out to me said she has celiac and that my food was prepared with the utmost care. That made me feel so much better. And boy was my sandwich excellent!! I will definitely be back as this is right around the corner from my house.
The outside of the store has a lot of fried food and the staff was very knowledgeable in warning us that cross contamination was very high and they recommended their inside cafe. Inside of the store there’s a cafe that is wonderful with lots of gluten free, made to order options.
Gluten free options (sandwiches and usually baked goods) are available inside at the cafe. This review is for the inside Cafe- the outdoor grill here is not celiac safe. The cafe has a dedicated GF toaster and always uses clean utensils and prep spaces. One of the employees in the Cafe is Celiac and she also does the GF baking when they have baked goods (brownies were top notch!) The sandwiches are also amazing- most every sandwich can be done on GF bread! Also ordered ice cream and they scooped it from a new container as well. This was the perfect stop as we traveled out and back from Western Mass!
I had an awesome experience in their cafe yesterday! I was poking around the store and saw that they had GF cookies. I asked the very friendly people behind the counter if they were cooked separately from regular cookies and they told me all about their GF preparation. For example, for breakfast and lunch sandwiches, they have a separate toaster, separate cutting boards, they change gloves, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised because I wasn’t expecting to be able to eat there- just figured I would sit while my friends got food from the grill outside. I ended up getting a Turkey BLT on GF bread and it was delicious! The workers were awesome at their explanation of their kitchen procedures and knew all about cross contamination, so I felt safe eating there. (This coming from someone who is super sensitive).
You have to go inside the store and there is a Cafe. Not available at the outside grill.
This is our go-to ice cream stand during the season! The staff are well trained about ingredients and handling, and they have dedicated “allergy” containers so there is no cross contact. When ordering, you need to say “this is for an allergy” so they know to get your ice cream from a dedicated container, and be sure to ask if the flavor you want is gluten free (e.g. I thought peanut butter cup would be because the base is vanilla, but there is malt in it)). Lots of options, but no gf cones. I’ve never gotten sick from eating here.
I went to a corporate bbq here in early august 2023 and was pleasantly surprised. At the grill a team member had celiac and she gave me a ton of options, ran down the grill area with what I can/can’t have, grabbed my veggie skewers from a separate fridge in the back. Burger was grilled separately, I am extremely sensitive celiac and had a great time. Ice cream was a no, ice cream team members were not very helpful, but for a corporate event with grill items I was pleasantly surprised. Be sure to ask for what you need - there are options but it’s not obvious.
Ice cream-Delicious! The workers have binders at the ice cream windows that list out ingredients and allergens. Used a clean scoop when asked.
Seafood and Grill Shack-Did not order anything. Nothing noted as gluten free on the menu. When asked if they had any gluten free options, he said the only thing they could do was sub out lettuce for a bun. They did not have gluten free buns.
No allergy menu available at the seafood grill despite the website stating that gluten and many other allergies can be accommodated across the site. They offered a bunless burger and do not have a dedicated fryer.
Ice cream window did not have an ingredient list when asked. Rather, they said to ask which flavor we'd like and they could confirm it's gluten free. They were happy to scoop from a fresh tub.
If you're here for anything other than ice cream, bring your own safe food. Super disappointed.
