Firstly, the restaurant is very aware of what gluten is and is very familiar with their menu to make suggestions on what can or cannot be gluten free. Unfortunately, this only means the omission of the sauce i.e. all the flavour. It would have been helpful if the restaurant made suggestions on what dishes would retain some flavour vs. just confirming the gluten ingredient could be removed.
For example, we ordered the beef rice noodles with black bean sauce. It came plain, white and flavourless. The seafood in xo sauce came bland and devoid of flavour. The king pao chicken came white and bland.
All in all, this restaurant is an option with great customer service—but for gluten free eats, a disappointing experience. I’d recommend the fried rice, that was the best!
