Their sashimi and rolls are some of the best I've had. Great wine selection, too. Staff has always been very knowledgable of GF needs. I eat there regularly, and have never gotten sick and I am celiac and very sensitive to cross contamination.
The sushi roll with 'soy paper' was gross. The staff does not have a very good knowledge of gluten free- they put soy sauce on my table when I had just gotten done telling them I'm gluten free.
Love this place! They have a good variety of gf menu items. Plus the vibe is energetic, and drinks are yummy.
There is a separate GF menu ( as well as vegan). It is limited but there were good options. The server wasn’t super educated in why things weren’t GF or if they could be altered to be but was willing to go ask. I ended up with the Chili Lime shrimp salad which was perfect for a lite lunch. Expensive for a salad ($15) but tasty. And I didn’t have any issues with it after. I would like to have more options for the sushi rolls.
Gluten free menu was fairly limited. The sushi was the best part of the meal. I had the filet and it had a strange after taste. Not sure if it was marinated or not, but was not a fan. Steak was cooked correctly. My wife had the salmon, which was overcooked but thankfully not dried out. Service was spotty. All the staff seemed to be running around but did not see anything being accomplished, just seemed to huddle up in different places. This was our second trip to this restaurant and honestly not sure I will return to it if I come back to Baltimore.
An extensive gluten free menu, and tasty food, to boot! On the flip side of the gf menu are a vegan and vegetarian menu, for those who need it. They don't offer gf buns for burgers, so it's the meat on a leaf of lettuce, but it's presented nicely. The server was helpful and knowledgeable. Great experience!
This is my go-to sushi place! They have a separate gluten free menu with which rolls are gluten free, as well as several other food items. Additionally, they have gluten free soy sauce and are very accommodating. I always get the Philadelphia roll and Houston roll.
I sat at the bar and told the bartender I have Celiac's. He explained to me that because they are a from scratch restaurant a lot of the recipes could be modified to make a special dish for me. The gluten free menu already had a lot of great options. He went back to the kitchen to assure that cutting boards, knifes, and gloves were changed out and brought me gluten free Tamari sauce for my sushi. It was really great to not have to ask for this level of service. He understood my situation and knew exactly what to do. A+++
They have a gluten free menu. Seem to take all precautions necessary to avoid cross contamination. I feel safe eating here with celiac. (And their squash is yummy). They seem to struggle getting steak prepared appropriately on the first try but that ok. Still yummy
It's really nice that they have a gluten-free menu and the staff seemed educated on the different areas of cross contamination. The disappointment was that none of their GF sushi is included on Happy Hour. For example, the Philly role is on HH but the GF Philly role is not.
I tried it twice, asked all the right questions, ordered off the GF menu, and still got cross-contaminated pretty badly both times. I'm not sure how - I ordered the burger (no bun) the first time and a salad the second time, so it's possible that the pans they used or the grilltop are not clean enough. You're probably better off getting sushi or salad with no meat.
The service and food is well below average. They are also not very service dog friendly. All 3 times I have been in there they want to put us in out of the way areas. That's not acceptable. They also seem to think it's acceptable to allow families with children to run around the restaurant. (Put people with service dogs in the back corner but allow children to run rampant - not acceptable) I won't be back. The food isn't that good.
