I love the Birria Tacos. The chips and salsa aren't gluten free so I only have the tacos when I go. The waiter this time said that there are also some tamales that are gluten free but I come here for the tacos only so I had my heart set on them. 😁. I did once eat the chips and salsa and did get sick and this last time I came they confirmed that the chips are not gluten free. Still nice to have a restaurant close I can eat at with my husband for date night.
I got sick. I should’ve read the reviews on here first. I asked my waiter if the chips were fried in a shared fryer, he told me no, they were safe. I said multiple times that I had an allergy, and I was told pretty much everything is safe to eat except for tortas and the kids quesadillas. Half way through my meal I started feeling sick. After asking 3 more times about our meal and checking with the kitchen, the waiter says there’s a risk for cross contamination and everything is made in the same fryer. Which included the chips I previously asked about… The manager came out after and says the only thing safe on the menu is the birria tacos and rice and beans. They comped our meal and apologized but I’m still going to be sick for days. If you choose to come here ask to talk to the manager if you want to make sure your meal is safe, and stick with the birria tacos.
According to our waiter, the only thing Celiac safe was the beef tacos. There were however very very good and I'll be back for that. They dont have a gf menu. The staff was very kind.
Absolutely delicious and the staff was knowledgeable. We got birria tacos for takeout and the person handling it let us know that the birria is basically the safest option for celiacs because they do such a high volume of birria that they have a separate stove to cook those. Everything but tortas and some stuff from the kids menu is gluten free. Looking at the kids menu, I’d probably avoid the fries.
Update: I have been eating here nearly weekly and I have NEVER gotten sick, but I only order the birria.
Update 6/23/23: I read another review that said that things were no longer gluten free so I asked next time I went. Staff was very knowledgeable, knew what was gluten free and what was safe and what wasn’t. I was told that flour and corn tortillas are used in separate areas of the kitchen and the chips are made in house in a gluten free frier. Did not get sick.
They've remodeled recently. Was told that nothing is gluten free any longer as all tortillas (corn & regular) are all cooked on the same grill. Originally I was told the birria tacos were cooked in a separate part of the kitchen so that they were safe. Was also told the chips and salsa aren't safe as they fry things with gluten in the fryer as well. Will miss this place, sad they no longer work for those with Celiac.
Food was fantastic and while they don't have a GF menu, almost their entire menu is GF. Steer clear of their tortas and you will be good. Their quesadillas are done on corn shells as well.
