Review of Le Altre Farine Del Mulino

For those of you who don’t need to eat gluten free do not let that stop you from visiting this bakery. It is a 100% gluten free establishment, but my husband who is not gluten free loved everything he tried as well. In fact there is a coffee/bakery shop just a few doors down and he could have purchased his desserts there, but didn’t.

We were in Rome for six days and though it was a bit of a walk from our hotel we went four times. Everything we tried was a repeat right down to their coffee. We tried powdered sugar dusted almond cookies—think marzipan flavor, fruit topped cream puffs, custard filled fruit topped tarts, pistachio cookies, custard/cream filled rolls—think flakey croissant style and so many more. We tried their bread rolls which were amazing—think a bit hard on the outside but soft on the inside and great flavor. We tried their pizza and if you didn’t know it was gluten free you would never guess it. It had a great thick crust one that wasn’t a jaw breaker and of course full of flavor.

I will miss this bakery horribly as I’ve had nothing that comes close to it anywhere in the U.S. The great thing is that all of the treats you eat are so delicious, but they don’t reek of sugar. So many gluten free desserts in the states have sugar, sugar, and sugar—way too much.

I will never return to Rome without visiting this bakery and would highly recommend it!!
