The food was delicious but I felt sick after (had the club sandwich) & I called back the next week to double check that the bread isn’t grilled on the same area as the meat and they said IT IS:(! I was assured my food would be safe originally but the lady on the phone didn’t seem to know the exact cross contamination protocols and I paid the price.

If you need to eat here stick with things cooked in the dedicated fryer as I’d assume those are safer. Grilled bread comes with lots of dishes so there is cross contact with grilled chicken, shrimp, steak, etc anytime those are cooked on the grill. Very disappointing as I was excited about being able to eat here.

Part 2: are here again last week and they couldn’t tell me if the soup was gluten free. They said the kitchen said they were “pretty sure” it is but don’t know - which I don’t understand since they cooked it. It’s great they have a gf fryer but have not had good experiences with anything else on the menu.

Amazing experience. Booked a reservation for 5:30 ahead of time on a Tuesday. It was starting to get a little busy. The food was great, I had the fish and chips, which were already gluten free. The fryer is completely gluten free, and you wouldn’t be able to tell. The fries were absolutely amazing and crispy. It was a little pricy, but it is good for an every so often experience. Everything came out hot, and with sauces on the side.

Had a great experience! 100% gf fryer, very well informed staff. I had fish and chips with a glutenberg blonde. Super yummy, great to be able to have breaded items and fries for once! Really nice atmosphere as well

All the batter and whatever goes in are all gluten free! It says it right on the menu. I had the most amazing fish and chips and the portions were big! Great place for celiacs and non celiacs.

All staff are very aware of gluten free protocols and celiac requirements. It is our go to place. They have a dedicated frywr and all batters are gluten free. The fish and chips are amazing. So is the hot beef sandwich.

Delicious food with a staff that appears to be very aware of the seriousness of cross contamination. Their fryer is gf dedicated. How exciting is that! The food was delicious! The gf items are not marked in the menu but when we asked it was everything except the pasta. Did I mention the gluten free fryer 😊

The Black Dog is absolutely amazing for gluten free. Everything except pasta can be made gluten free. Our server was very well versed as she has a family member with celiac. I had the fish and chips and calamari. Hands down the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (gluten filled or gluten free). They don’t advertise gluten free at all on their menu which is an interesting business choice. We will return next time we are in kingston for sure!

I can’t believe I haven’t left a review for here yet! Black Dog Tavern is Out. Of. This. World. AMAZING for those with gluten sensitivities, intolerance, or with celiac. Their dedicated gluten free fryer allows for you to enjoy meals you aren’t normally able to. Eating out here makes me feel like I’m ‘normal’ while eating out. Their fries, fish and chips, fried chicken, and calamari (I think there’s lots more available I just can’t remember off the top of my head) are all fantastic. All the non gf members of my party didn’t even know they were eating gluten free. I couldn’t recommend this enough, if you follow a gluten free diet - this is the place for you.

The Black Dog has a dedicated gluten free fryer and is able to accommodate people with celiac disease. They have modified a number of dishes on their menu to be gluten free such as their fried chicken, calamari, and fish and chips. I highly recommend you check this place out. It was absolutely delicious and I felt very safe eating here.

Lovely dinner! Waitstaff was familiar with Celiac and took care to explain options and check with kitchen. GF chocolate mousse cake was visually impressive, but underwhelming in taste.

I messaged ahead to make sure they could accommodate my dietary needs. They explained that they accommodate allergies all the time. Just tell them what you are interested in and the staff will make sure it is safe. Excellent food! A little on the pricey side.
