Established in 2015.
Levant Bistro is a place to gather with friends and family to experience delicious Levantine cuisine and freshly baked pastries, served with our unique beverages. We believe that good food feeds the tummy and soul, cooked using organic, clean practices and foods free of artificial additives, harmful ingredients, or GMOs. Our dishes are rooted in Levantine cuisine, celebrating the flavors of the region's spices and fresh organic ingredients. We proudly source from local farmers and regional suppliers who share our passion for earth-friendly principles, organic practices, and supporting the community. Our menu is created around seasonal ingredients that we prepare fresh every day, so our selections vary based on availability. We use extra-virgin olive oil and grapeseed oil for sautéing; organic ghee, grass-fed butter, and/or grapeseed oil for baking; and we sweeten our desserts with organic cane sugar, organic coconut sugar and/or local raw honey.
This review is solely for their desserts. I’d be open to going back for a meal. I went in and bought three desserts. While it’s always nice to have GF treats even if they’re mediocre, 2/3 things I ordered left some room to be desired (dry raspberry cookie and fig scone, not very unique or flavorful). The only semi-worthwhile dessert we tried was the orange cake. I would have bought a GF loaf of bread as well, though for $16-$18 a loaf I wanted to make sure I liked other items first.
RUN, do not walk, to this restaurant. By far, I had the best meal I’ve ever had probably in my life, and absolutely since being diagnosed with celiac disease in 2019. Dedicated gluten free facility, check. Lots of options, check. That includes apps, soups, salads, entrees, and baked goods and desserts. Sheer culinary brilliance, check. Great service, check. Amazing environment/ vibe, check. Parking, check (in fricken LA). My husband was also impressed, and he could not tell the dishes were gluten free.
I ordered the lentil soup, followed by the short rib entree with creamed parsnips, spinach, a red onion type relish, and a pomegranate sauce. That dish was a show stopper. I then got the chocolate chip cookie and baklava tart to share. I will absolutely be going back. This is my new spot, and I’ll travel far and wide to eat here again (we live in Orange County).
Entirely dedicated to gluten-free food, but doesn’t have that GF texture most other places have. The breads are light and fluffy, which I have never experienced post-diagnosis. Levant requires multiple visits to get through the entire menu, and it’s more than worth it. 1000000/10.
AMAZING!! We travelled across the city twice to eat here for lunch. We had the short rib scramble and chai tea both times and also tried the falafel and eggplant meal as well as the pistachio pancakes. I can’t have dairy so I just ordered the pancakes without the cheese and chai subbed with oat milk and it was all still so yummy. Can’t wait until the next time we are in LA! A celiac and dairy free dream <3
Nice decor with ample outdoor dining. The menu had dilectible regional dishes which i would try next time. I went with GF Pizza with regional sauce. It tasted great with chewy texture. The desserts seemed European style with an eastern mediterranean flair. Service was attentive with care for gluten free palettes.
I’ve eaten here my entire pregnancy as a celiac and never once gotten sick. Food is delicious and service is amazing! My only complaint is that if you order on postmates they don’t let you modify anything for allergies like other restaurants do. I would be ordering a lot more if they did.
It's kind of funny how Levant doesn't call out everything being gluten-free on their menu, but I loved that they highlighted other allergens like dairy (which I also need to avoid). Ate here with three other non-allergic people who all liked their food. Plus they have a lovely, spacious outdoor patio.
The service was great and I loved the egg pie (with a super rich crust) and the pita bread (so hard to find good GF pita!) with baba ghanoush. Afterward I got the pistachio rose cake which was lovely and super moist with honey, plus a nice jam cookie. Already daydreaming of going back here on my next LA visit.
I use to go here but recently the last two times, I ended up coming home super sick, some serious cross contamination going on not sure what it is. I went again after getting sick the first time because it was hard to believe/accept I was getting sick from this place. Unfortunately I ate here three days ago and my stomach is still so swollen and hasn’t gone down since, never going back. It was definitely after eating there. Be careful friends :(
This place has the nicest most accommodating waiter. He even gave us a free cookie, which was pretty good but needs to be eaten immediately or it becomes very dry :) I ordered a dark chocolate latte and it seemed to be made by an untrained barista. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good. The pistachio sauce I got on the side was really good and slightly spicy! The beef shawarma I ordered wasn’t great. The beef seemed low quality and there were big chunks of tomatoes on the sandwich. The pita bread it was on was great!!! Super soft and yummy. I ordered a baklava tart and it wasn’t good. The Nutella cookie I got was the best thing. Overall: super cute shop and back patio, with really nice waiter, the food could be prepared better, the lattes I would not get again, and the pastries were my least favorite gf bakery items I’ve had anywhere.
Amazing, delicious, 100% safe Lebanese food. We had a fantastic meal and great service there including delicious fig jam and goat cheese flatbread/manoush, the best falafels I’ve ever eaten and out-of-this world bread pudding for dessert. Very highly recommended. I only wish they would open a restaurant in Seattle!
This is my FAVORITE restaurant in all of LA! The food is phenomenal and the selection is incredible. I love, love, love the date cookies, although the orange chocolate cake is a favorite as well. All of the main dishes are wonderful and the savory pastries are to die for. You can't even believe it's gluten free when you try it. I also love the atmosphere here and the owner(s) are amazingly friendly. We have yet to come for brunch but are looking forward to it!!
Great variety and menu. Deserts that are unique and delish. Amazing service. Clean. No symptoms after eating. Dedicated GF. Taste is good. Portions are Incredibly tiny. Wish the filling in the spinach sambuze was actually cooked. It contained 3 leaves of raw spinach. Super disappointed in the samboze. The crust was amazing. But little to no filling sadly. Great experience but for the price we definitely need expected more flavor and depth. Desserts are great. Not too sweet. Perfect for my daughters taste. The kenefe was delicious. The chocolate cupcake was also delicious.
This is a 100% dedicated gluten free very nice casual bistro. The service from the moment you walk in is amazing. The decor adds to the dining experience.
Everything is baked from scratch and is organic, non-GMO, non-soy and gluten free. The foods are Mediterran based and rich with flavors!
We had the garlic cheese bread which is incredible! We also had the sausage flatbread which was so tasty and a tad of spice! The tomato and feta salad was outstanding.
Also had a perfect house berry muffin loaded with blueberries that was incredible. Tried the bread pudding too, it was good but I preferred the muffin.
We’ve eaten there twice in the past two weeks because it is THAT good!
I LOVE this venue! The food is delicious, fresh and no one would ever know it’s 100% GF due to the amazing flavors, textures and variety of dishes. Dany, the owner, is dedicated to creating a safe, exquisite and lovely dining experience. The spice crusted roasted 1/2 chicken dinner is divine! The braised short ribs, grass fed kibbeh, grilled octopus, and many desserts are lip smackin’ good!
The food was amazing and the flavors were robust. I had the manouche z’atar and the short ribs. Everything was gluten free and other allergens were well marked. The servers were knowledgeable. My one complaint was that it didn’t appear very busy when I arrived and our food took a pretty long time to arrive. But I didn’t mind so much because the ambiance was nice and the food that came was so delicious. I wish I lived closer!
I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 100 STARS!! The first place I have truly found safe middle eastern food!! I am an Arab-American and almost died when I saw I could have a kafta sandwich again. AND GF KIBBE?! I ordered four entrees and only needed one box for leftovers by the end. It was that delicious lol. I didn’t get sick from anything! (Writing this review 48 hours after too, so def safe!) The waitstaff was amazing, and the owners were SOOOO kind. Going back every time I’m in LA!
