Unfortunately, this restaurant is not what it once was. My partner and I have had numerous great experiences here, but their sensitivity to celiac is totally dependent on who is cooking. They have a Caucasian, curly haired chef/kitchen manager who is extremely insensitive to gluten free/celiac needs, and will actually make sarcastic remarks when a customer asks if an item is gluten free or not. Repeatedly. We have come here almost weekly for the last two years, but if we come through the door and see this cook we will immediately leave. BE CAREFUL HERE - MAY NOT BE SAFE FOR CELIACS GOING FORWARD.
Saw the great reviews and came in. There was a sizable line. When it was our turn I told the person I was allergic to gluten and dairy. They had a gf taco menu on the table which was nice! The food came out quickly and looked delicious - and was delicious, but even after verifying they were corn tortillas I still had a severe allergic reaction.
As of Jan 2021, they now have an option in online order system to sub corn tortillas for each taco *and* at the bottom, tag it as gluten free and/or celiac! Then, tacos are also marked as celiac so it’s easy to tell if you have an order that also includes non-celiac.
Tacos themselves are delicious! There’s 1-2 that don’t have the celiac/GF options, which I assume means they can’t be made GF, but most can. We’ve tried the ribeye, pork belly, and shrimp. Also had the queso (but their chips had a shared fryer so those aren’t celiac safe, plan to bring or use your own safe chips for a takeout order).
Staff seems to be on top of things, proactively communicated about the chips when my husband picked up a takeout order.
