Lombardo's Italian Restaurant

We are a family of 4 and my 12 y/o daughter has celiac. The food all around tasted great and our waitress was friendly. My daughter ordered shrimp cocktail, gluten-free penne pasta, and lobster tail. She said it all tasted great. We did experience an issue with cross contamination, however. At the bottom of her penne dish was a lone strand of spaghetti. After alerting the waitress (and after my daughter ate most of the pasta), we were told that the gf pasta was cooked in a separate clean pot, however, it seems that the kitchen used a common strainer when removing the pasta from the water and the strainer wasn’t clean. My daughter had an uncomfortable night as a result. The waitress was aware of the medical condition and we asked for guidance on other dishes throughout the meal. This was just a careless kitchen.

We had a wonderful experience here. Server was knowledge about gf food and cross contamination. They can substitute gf penne for almost any pasta dish. And many dishes are naturally gf. We had caprese salad, steak, grilled salmon, house salad with balsamic, pasta with marinara. My celiac daughter tried everything and did not get sick.

Though they do not have a gluten free menu, it was obvious they could accommodate my celiac husband. Our server Demarie was very knowledgeable about the offerings on their regular menu and if she was unsure she checked the the Chef. It’s smallish and intimate with Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr, Dean Martin, Johnnie Mathis and Tony Bennett crooning in the background. The service was excellent. The grilled octopus app over Parmesan risotto was a surprise, as were the lamb chops which were gluten free served with mashed and asparagus. The seafood trio over Risotto in lobster sauce was a delight. With the app, included salad and generous entrees, we both ended up with doggie bags. Best part? No ill effects! Highly recommend!

The service was very good. The menu has a wheat symbol next to the things that can be modified to be gluten free. I ordered linguini with muscles and they substituted the linguini for gluten free penne pasta that was made from lentils. It was really good!
