Minimal gluten free choices. I have a shellfish allergy so only able to get a salad with grilled chicken and I had a reaction. Also, be careful when ordering drinks since they gave me a house brand instead of the one I ordered. I called them on it and got correct one the next time. I am used to not always getting choices but if they do what they say they can do then I am generally happy. Overall, not impressed.
Had the grilled snapper, which was tasty - the side items were not great (veggies and rice). The server had no idea what was gluten free outside of the few items on the menu (such as the sides) and kind of fought with me about whether regular white rice is gluten free - he swore rice was made of gluten. Not very confident in the servers knowledge of the food.
The location was beautiful, music/entertainment was great, however the waiter was not knowledgeable at all. He did inform the kitchen however they don’t speak English, but they had an interpreter. He did really try, but not many choices on menu at all. I got peel and eat shrimp with fresh lemon as an app and then the spinach salad with snapper. The blue cheese is not GF.
Gluten free items are marked. There are not a lot, but I appreciated what they had. I ordered the Peppercorn Parmesan Salad with grilled chicken and did not react at all. The staff was knowledgeable and was able to tell me the ingredients of the drinks.
The mahi tacos were great. They had flour tortillas but you can request to have it without.
GF dishes clearly labeled on the menu, waitstaff knowledgeable and respectful about GF and vegan options.
No separate GF menu, and only a few items listed as GF on the menu, but a good amount of the dishes can be modified. The staff I had was knowledgeable and helpful, and the kitchen verified that the modifications were GF. Didn’t get sick and I’m diagnosed celiac and very sensitive. As a bonus they have a GF beer! You can’t beat the atmosphere for sunset!!
I'm sort-of torn on this review because the atmosphere was great (two manatees swam right up to our table), there was live music and the drinks are affordably priced, but our waiter was clueless about what did and didn't have gluten. GF options are noted with **, but one of the appetizers is made with a "sweet soy sauce reduction." I wanted make sure that they used GF soy sauce and our waiter said all their soy sauce has gluten it it, so I pointed out that the appetizer was marked as GF, which he then barked at me that there's no soy sauce in it. So I then showed him where it said it did have soy sauce in it. I ultimately made the bad decision to trust the menu, but regretted it later that night when I became sick. The conch chowder, however, was definitely gluten free and was delicious.
The waitress could only suggest a salad or grill/blackened fish on a salad. I got the salad w/the fish, but for the price of $14 I would try somewhere else next time since the fish was cold.
Casual, outside dining, Live music. Gorgeous view! Accomodating of gluten allergies, just ask your waitress to double check for you. Spinach and artichoke dip is delicious!
