Came in for the gluten free fish and chips. Had the sqeaky cheese as an appetizer. They were very knowledgeable about the menu and what the best gluten free options were. The waiter was on the ball the entire time we were there. Make sure you make a reservation on Friday and Saturday, as wait times can get long without one.
My husband took our oldest daughter, who is a very sensitive celiac, for a Valentines date tonight. She was vomiting two hours later (her usual gluten response) and has now been vomiting for close to two hours. VERY disappointed and disheartening. We were so excited to potentially have another safe place to eat but we will never take our girls there again.
want to come back to try more as I only had a few appetizers - but tons of GF options, dedicated fryer, and fun atmosphere. I’m a super super sensitive celiac and had no issues; I tried the brussel sprouts (some bites really good, some bites just okay) and the fried curds - delicious!!
I am a very sensitive Celiac and I had no problems at Louie's. Our waitress was a Celiac herself, so she assured me that it was safe for me to eat there. She said that when she put gluten free on our order she had to specify it was for an allergy and not a preference. I would recommend reminding your waiter/waitress to do that, if you have an allergy. Their menu is clearly marked and you need to ask if their fryer is separate or shared, apparently it isn't all the time. I had the spinach artichoke dip, butternut squash salad and chicken piccata with no issues. I would say this restaurant is very safe for Celiacs.
Such a great experience. Our server and manager were very attentive and did a fantastic job of answering all my questions. I have not had fried cheese in years! We will definitely be back!
I have eaten inside once and to go once. The server was very aware of what was gf. The food was delicious! They have a dedicated fryer! To go I was able to put a comment that I had a gluten allergy and to use a GF bun. When I got my food I was a bit concerned that the bun wasn’t GF because it looked so good! Definitely check this place out! The menu is clearly marked what is GF or what can be modified for GF.
I had the chicken picatta, to go. The ticket wasn’t marked gf, and the person ringing me up said it was gf. I asked “All the time?” He said, I think so. I told him I had to know for sure, so he asked another of the wait staff who said, it was always gf. I had low confidence but took it with me anyway. Got it home and the only taste it had was vaguely cajun blackened spice. A lemon on the side. Definitely not chicken picatta, and no where good enough to risk it.
I’ve also had the gf fish and chips here. I really, really wanted that to be good, but it is always hard (not crispy) and burned. And the fries are limp and greasy.
The food just isn’t worth the risk. I won’t go back.
I’ve been to Louie’s before and had a wonderful experience. Tonight I double checked with my waiter to make sure there was still a dedicated fryer and he said they no longer have one. 😫 The waiter was very nice, but I was disappointed that one of my favorite places is no longer safe.
Lots of GF choices on the menu, and ones that celiacs don't usually get. The food is excellent. Great flavors and textures that are very unique. This chef can really cook! The calamari and dipping sauce appetizer was amazing, and the fish and chips were a rare treat for those on a GF diet (GF fryer here, of course). I also really enjoyed the dessert. If you get the apple crisp, be sure to mix the whipped cream with the apple crisp in every bite; they complement each other perfectly.
So happy we found this place. Stopped by at 1030 on a Friday night (they stop serving dinner at 11). Even though we came late the staff was very friendly and the food came out fresh and piping hot. Many options to choose from and they are clearly labeled on the menu. I got the fish and chips and it was AMAZING. They have a dedicated fryer and all items are battered in rice flour. Can't wait to come back and try the other selections
I go the this restaurant at least twice a month!! They have so many unique gluten free options that are so hard to find anywhere else, such as the fish and chips- which are amazing- and cheese curds (these do not always appear on the menu due to the seasonal changes but just ask the waiter for them and they will make them for you). I have never had a bad experience here, the staff is awesome!!
Wow!!! Loved this place! Amazing lemon drop martini, crisp pecan brussel sprouts, and champagne fish and chips!! What a treat! So many GF options although no dessert options. Flavors were out of this world!
Staff was very knowledgeable and kitchen has dedicated fryer and kitchen space. Fish and chips and calmari were fantastic. Obviously they have wine, but also gluten free beer which rotates monthly. Did not get sick. Will definitely be back!
This was our 2nd visit. Fish and chips -amazing Squeaky cheese-which tastes like mozzarella sticks-so good. Shrimp and grits. Yum Chocolate torte-delish All gluten free!!!!
So many great GF items! They just revamped the menu and I was pleasantly surprised to see how many options I still had! Everything is clearly marked and the wait staff is knowledgeable about GF and allergies.
My new favorite restaurant! Everything was wonderful including deviled eggs, charcuterie, and fish and chips. Service was excellent and knowledgeable.
Lots of gluten free options. The batter they fry things in is rice flour so it’s a nice treat to have gf fried food. The cheese curds are a highlight! Kind of expensive though and I haven’t been crazy impressed with the dishes for the price. I just go for the cheese curds and win and I’m happy with that!
