Ordered a gluten free burger. Came to me with the allergy toothpick. Took one bit and then I noticed that the person next to me (not GF) had the same bun. Asked waiter if it my bun was GF he indicated he ordered the GF burger but what I had was not GF. The kitchen messed up. Call the manager and they indicated that there was nothing they could do and even charged me for the burger. They did make me a GF burger but by that time it was too late.
My wife gets the Bohemian on gf bun and she says it is very good. Our server was very attentive and knew quite a bit about gluten free and allergy issues. She wanted to know so she could make sure the kitchen knew ahead of time. As for the fries, she said it is a dedicated fryer for French fries only. However, she was upfront and let us know it is next to the other fryer and there is no guarantee something couldn't accidentally drop into the French fry fryer. We had no problem and my wife had no adverse reactions. Service was fine and prompt. We go there quite a bit and really love the food and experience.
Ugh... Server did not even know what gluten free was. Was not able to tell me which burger options were 'safe' then it was followed by an awkward conversation about how the server heard the gf buns were 'bland' and how gf food doesn't taste good. Just so everyone knows the burger was tasty, bun a little crumbly. The fryer is NOT a dedicated frier so stay away from the fries.
Have eaten here a few times. Staff is somewhat knowledgeable, but I always stick to safe choices. (Was first told tortilla chips were safe but waiter came back after I had eaten two to say they were not fried in dedicated fryer. Luckily did not get sick.) Buns are definitely better than ones I've had other places, and have mostly had good experience. Rooftop dining is the best!
I would recommend this burger place with the reservation that there is the potential of minor cross-contamination. Our server said the deep fryer that's used for French fries is right next to the deep fryer that is used for floured items. That being said, the burgers and fries were excellent, which you can order with gluten-free buns. Just be sure to quiz your server thoroughly on whatever food items you're not sure about, and they will check it out for you.
Ordered hamburger so could try w/ gfree bun w/ side of fries. Food very good. BUT about thirty minutes later I had that full feeling that lasted all day, then stomach pains all night into the next morning. I think it was the fries cross contaminated with gluten fried foods.
