Best Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston!!! I love Lupe Tortilla because a) the bean dip & salsa are both gluten free and b) the beef fajitas are gluten free. Just make sure to order corn tortillas. I go to Lupe Tortilla a lot and have never had a problem eating here. I will say that while Lupe Tortilla has curbside pick-up, customers get more bang for their buck dining in - just grateful that Lupe is still serving during the pandemic for take-out.

Staff was helpful and seemed to understand gluten allergy. Almost everything on the menu is or can be made gluten free, but you'll need to ask your server whether an item is gluten free already or has to be modified. The main thing to look out for are things with flour tortillas and things that are fried (which includes the chips), as they do not have a dedicated frier.
I had the Tex-Mex enchiladas, which did not need to be modified. Great meal, no gluten reaction.

Staff was so knowledgeable on gluten allergy. Their chips are fried in a shared fryer so don’t eat if you are celiac. They went above and beyond to make sure we got the right food and that special care was taken for our food. The head chef came to our table to talk to us and explained the care they take our gluten allergies and answered any questions we had. All of the fajitas are 100% gluten free (the steak was our fav) and they come with corn tortillas. The fajitas were out of this world delicious! They made any special accommodations they could so our kids could get food they wanted - ex. Quesadilla on corn tortillas. We will definitely be back!

Staff knowledgeable, items with gluten marked on menu, I have Celiac and eat here all the time without issues.

Spoke to the chef personally, and she told me that the chips are GF and most things are GF. So, far so good ... The only reason for the 4 stars is I just got home and not sure of the reaction. Time will only tell.

We ordered my son grilled chicken, rice and corn tortillas. It was yummy. They don't have a dedicated fryer, so no chips:(

I specifically told my waiter that I needed my dish (tortilla soup) to be gluten free for a celiac, and he assured me that he would take care of it. Typically they leave out the tortilla strips that have been fried in the same fryer as other food. After I started eating my soup, I realized that it had the contaminated tortilla strips at the bottom. When I started asked questions. It turned out that the waiter had never told the kitchen. The manager came over and profusely apologized, but unfortunately, it was too late at that point. I was sick for several days afterward.

Menu is mostly GF, and anything that HAS gluten is noted. Beef fajitas typically have gluten due to soy sauce in the marinade, but Lupe Tortillas are gluten free-yay! it's a bit pricey but worth is to enjoy beef fajitas and delicious homemade corn tortillas. They will also sub tortillas with large pieces of romaine lettuce to create a "taco" if you request them.
I've never had an issue here. I get green chicken enchiladas and fajitas with corn tortillas. The corn tortillas are the best I've ever had.
Got glutened from carne asada and a strawberry daiquiri. Tasty though. The server seemed to take allergies very seriously but apparently the kitchen didn't π€·β

Almost all the menu is gluten free except for the flour tortillas. You can ask for corn tortillas. Waiter was knowledgeable and the menu says it that the only thing is marked non gluten-free are the flour tortillas and the items that are made with it.

I’m having to change my review since I no longer eat here because it’s not safe. They make the regular flour tortillas in house, so flour is on all surfaces and there’s no way to keep food gf.

My nutritionist advised me to go gluten-free since she senses I have an allergy. After browsing dozens of menus, I felt most confident dining out GF (for the first time) here. Our waitress was Desiree, and she was phenomenal. I wasn’t sure if the chips were GF or not, so I opted not to eat them. I had the Chicken Lupe Del Mar with corn tortillas - my husband had the same thing. My dad had the tortilla soup with some tacos. Our food was brought out separate, and I was extremely impressed with how many GF items were on the menu. Unless specified, everything is GF. That really put me at ease.
I’ve also had the salmon, mahi mahi, and other dishes here with seasonal veggies instead of rice. The menu really accommodates to those watching calories or who have food allergies.

Does not have the same menu as a lot of Lupe’s so no gluten free items marked. Manager said they were not set up as gluten free and wasn’t confident about being able to avoid cross contamination.
No gluten free options. Manager said he could make something, but wasn’t confident about it being safe.
