Amazing! We were told at check in for a table about the vast gluten free options. We passed the time waiting for a table with delicious great white cocktails, raw oysters, and cocktail shrimp. The staff was fun and kind on a busy Friday night. Our server told me about how the owner has celiacs and goes above and beyond to ensure a safe kitchen. Fried items are gluten free, and there are many poke items gluten free too. I ordered the fish and chips. It was light and crunchy on a big bed of fries. So good! There are more limits on dessert, but we had a great slice of flourless chocolate cake. Would totally visit again! Beautiful summer garden and atmosphere. Plus, all Mac locations are gluten free!

Best place for gf eating on the cape! All fried food is gf. They also have poke bowls, though sometimes the fish in them isn’t super fresh. They have locations up and down the Cape. And this location is BYOB!

The picnic tables are public and not exclusive to the restaurant. Bathrooms are located on the pier near the Harbormaster’s office
Dedicated GF fryer. Owner has celiac disease and the staff is very knowledgable.
One of the very best places to go!
— Yes, the establishment is dedicated gluten-free

Dedicated gf dryer and lots of options. Owner is gf and changed menu for more gf options a couple of years ago. We were there last week of the season so fewer options (like no gf buns) but everything g was delicious and staff seemed really well trained.

Honestly the worst seafood meal I think I’ve ever had and I love seafood. So sadly disappointing. Lobster bisque was literally just a broth with nothing in it. The mussels tasted horrible. The fried clams were not crispy at all more like soggy old fried food and they forgot part of our order. Lots of gluten free choices but I would not waste your money on this less than subpar food.

This place is the best. Well-marked menu that is mostly gf, plus a dedicated fryer. The best food, the best people, the safest experience. Love, love, love.

I was on my way to Provincetown and stopped for some dinner. Got the fried fish tacos and fries - they assured me they are all GF and have a dedicated fryer. Amazing! The fish was so fresh and delish and the fries I couldn’t stop eating. Can’t wait to go back!

Had a late lunch at this location. We had sushi, lobster mashed potatoes, fried fish tacos and fish and chips. All were delicious and my celiac daughter felt fine afterwards. The server took great care in ensuring our food was safe and made us feel at ease. Sadly, they were out of the clam chowder, but the food was so good, we are eating at the Chatham location for dinner another night on vacation and hoping to try the chowder then.

Delicious! Very safe and they have an enormous gluten free menu. All the fried foods are GF, so no worries about fryer cross contamination AND incredible fried seafood. The fried shrimp and wave roll were my favorites, and my husband raved about the oysters. Also worth noting that they have several other locations on the Cape that also follow the same cross contamination procedures and have mostly the same menus. I ate at 3 locations throughout the week with no problems at all.

2022 - Much improved! Corn meal
is used for fried food so it’s all
GF plus the chowder. Top notch experience.
2017 Review - this rating is for Macs On the Pier on Wellfleet Harbor. it's a clam shack but none of the fried stuff is GF. the chowder is creamy and GF and good! All the soups are GF. My GF daughter had the shrimp cocktail and corn on the Cobb with chowder. it's a seafood shack but it's pricey.

Mac’s is amazing for celiac. I’ve been going here for my entire life but ever since being diagnosed with celiac, I can still go there. In the past year, they have made adjustments so the ENTIRE fryer is gluten free. Every single fried thing is safe (seafood, fries, etc). The menu marks which things are gluten free and then just make sure to tell your server that it’s an allergy and they will prevent cross contamination. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and nice!! Never gotten sick here and I go about 5 times during my trip!!! Highly recommend :) and overall, the food is just very yummy in general!

It sounds like they are slowly converting most of their menu to be GF - all foods that go in the fryer are GF ONLY. They do not serve any fried food that is not GF.
I have never had so many GF options I nearly ordered the entire menu. The waitress went above and beyond to walk us through the GF options and tell us how safe everything was. The food was AMAZING - my wife can eat gluten and she said that their fried food was some of the best she’s ever had even though it’s GF.

Amazing and have eaten here many times without any sickness. Such a great chance to have gf clam chowder!
Yes
Went twice to this place, had an acceptable gluten free experience the first time. The second time I came for dinner instead of lunch and I ordered an item on the menu marked gluten free and requested it gluten free. It came out with some sort of batter coating on it. I asked the waitress who was unsure with what it was and said it might be “just flour”. That’s a big red flag because I asked for it gluten free. The staff was good the first time I went for lunch but utterly clueless the second time.
Good with a good number of GF options. HOWEVER there is at least one error in the items marked GF (the tamago is not GF). Have eaten here with my celiac son without incident but as always, know your stuff.
Went here w my child who has celiac. She had a burger w gf bun and a sushi roll, all were celiac friendly. The waiter didn’t seem to know much and they were too busy to cook fries gf for us. Overall a good choice though

Mac's has so many gluten free options, and it's especially nice to enjoy gluten free clam chowder!

Every time we stay on the cape we make the 45 minute drive to get to Mac's more than once. They are one of the few places that has gluten free sushi near here. They also have great salads. The staff is very knowledgable and my sister and I have never gotten sick at Mac's.

Sushi and seafood spot. Part of the larger Mac's group, but the Wellfleet restaurant. GF clam chowder was thin but yummy!
Mac's went above and beyond when my aunts and I went for dinner. I'd say at least 1/3 of their menu is GF, so there were more options than I'm used to! GF items are clearly marked on the menu, making it very easy to peruse. Our waitress (Janci) informed me that the owner has Celiac Disease, which increased my confidence in their protocol to minimize cross-contamination.
Their clam chowder is thick, creamy, and absolutely delicious. I'd been craving safe sushi since being diagnosed with Celiac, and this really hit the spot (tuna, mango, avocado, black tobiko)! They had so many options! They also have GF soy sauce. They had a flourless chocolate cake that was perfectly dense, sweet, and rich without being too much so. The ONLY negative is that they didn't have anything for me to dip my sushi in except for the soy sauce (which I don't care for). That said, the sushi held its own and really didn't need to be dipped.
When Janci couldn't answer our questions (about gluten and my aunt's seafood allergy), she seemed to genuinely want to know the answer, and knew who to ask. I felt extremely safe eating here with Celiac Disease, and felt great afterwards! I can't wait to come back on my next trip to the Cape!
Yes
GF miso soup and corn soft tacos, clearly marked menu. Knowledgeable waitress who understood cross contamination. Only drawback is no kids GF menu.
Yes
Loved it here. Menu is clearly marked on what items are gluten free! Love when a restaurant does that! Gluten free clam chowder was delicious! Great place! Will definitely go back!
Yes
We were able to find several GF options here for my celiac daughter. Talk to your server and explain the GF/ cross contamination concerns and they are happy to accommodate. Excellent food and wonderful service!
