I previously came here once in the past and let them know that I have celiac disease. They were very accommodating and even brought out the chef to make sure I was okay. However, the second time that I came was very different. The server seemed to brush off my illness and said that she would handle it all without needing to bring out the chef. Unfortunately, I became ill within 10-15 minutes and was throwing up all night. I won’t be coming back here.

Upon hearing celiac, the server brought the chef to the table to discuss options. The chef was very helpful when discussing options, and brought the salads and entrées to the table himself.

Their corn/rice based pasta was delicious, as was the creme brûlée. This was one of our best dining experiences. We'll definitely be back.

NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY!

We've been there many times and really liked the food (based on food it gets more than one star, but this a gluten free review).

Unfortunately the last two times we've been there the gluten free meals have been contaminated with non-gluten free pasta (it's a different pasta shape so it is obvious)!! That can make people with celiac ill. They claimed to have spoken to the people behind the scenes after the first time it happened, but it happened again. They gave us our take-home meal but we gave that to a family member because we can't trust that is gluten free.

Not sure what they can do to make us believe that they are serious about being gluten free. Not worth the risk!

Staff are very knowledgeable about celiac. One of our favorite places to go. Chef or manager will come out to the table if they know that you have celiac to explain the menu options and how the food is prepared. Food is great also and you can get enough to take home for the next day.

As mentioned in other reviews, the chef comes out to talk to you about the GF options and to make sure you are comfortable with how your food is being prepared. I've never had issues eating here except that I over eat and complain about being overstuffed... It's the "good" kind of bloating! ;-) This is one of the only places I will add "celiac friendly" to the rating.

I am sitting at Maggianos as I write this review because they absolutely deserve it. I came to eat here mid day and the chef himself came to my table to talk to me about my options and the pasta and my mom and I both had (both gluten free but different dishes) was by far the best gluten free pasta I have ever had whether at home or I'm a restaurant. They care about allergies and made sure I was satisfied and I am leaving full with leftovers I can't wait to eat later.

Today I found a hidden gem of the gluten free foodie world. My best friend and blogger – Sara Wyen of Words To Run By went with me to the Celiac Awareness Tour in Cincinnati, Ohio today. We were excited to see all the fun, new gluten free goodies with all the vendors. Another blog post coming soon on that… While we were there, Maggiano’s Little Italy chef Karl Lenz was there speaking and doing a gluten free demo. Well, I knew exactly where the Maggiano’s Kenwood was located and we zipped on over there for lunch. I am so glad we did. Upon entering the restaurant, I asked for the gluten free menu. They explained rather than having a gluten free menu, the Assistant Manager would come out and explain the gluten free options and ensure my meal was allergy safe. Matthew Powell, the Assistant General Manager came over to the table after our waiter quickly brought us drinks and very thoroughly explained how 90% of their menu items can be made into gluten free dishes. He walked me through the menu and made sure I was clear on food preparation, ingredients and options for celiac disease. This was the most gluten friendly and celiac aware place I’ve been to yet. 90% of their menu items could be made gluten free – surely it wasn’t so. This place isn’t on any of the safe lists or gluten free places to eat. Oh boy, did they knock my socks off. I decided to try their corn pasta. It. Was. Amazing. Gluten Free Corn Pasta Maggiano’s Sara and I ended up sharing a meal because it was really big. You know what the best part was? They have several menu items that you can get a to go item FREE if you order from the list. Yup – I got 2 meals for the price of one. 1 being a gluten free specialty menu item – without paying extra. Our entire lunch with the meal, Cesar salad for Sara and 2 iced teas was $24. Can you tell we didn’t like it? Just kidding. Matthew even came out after the meal and ensured everything was ok and up to my gluten free liking! Of course I explained. The chef that was doing the demo at the Celiac Awareness Tour, Karl Lenz – was back before we finished lunch and he even came out to welcome us and explain their cooking methods and showed me their pastas! Maggiano’s Corn Pasta I felt completely safe eating here, had no stomach ailments after my meal and will certainly make this a go to spot when we are in Cincinnati. The manager, chef and waiter all made me feel comfortable and took care of me the way a restaurant should with people suffering from food allergies. We already have a big enough burden of having this food allergy, we shouldn’t have to feel like one while eating out.

Excellent food! I’ve always loved Maggiano’s since before going gluten free and I still love it now. Was informed that all pasta dishes except the eggplant parm, lasagna, and ravioli can be made gluten free with GF pasta. All pasta sauces are also GF. For the breaded chicken dishes, they will cook un-breaded chicken in a separate pan. Very knowledgeable servers, great safety procedures, great service, and great food. My lemon chicken piccata with garlic and olive oil pasta was amazing. Definitely recommend for a nice Italian dinner!

Every time I have eaten in, the food was excellent. Take out is so/so. Either it’s spot on, or they missed it by a mile. This last time, they claimed I didn’t specify I needed anything gf. Even though I had told them I have celiac. They remade my meal but, the sauce I asked for on the side doesn’t appear to be gluten free. Currently writing this in the bathroom.

Host and wait staff super knowledgeable about both celiac disease and being gluten free - all pasta (minus the lasagna and ravioli) can be made gluten free, waiter stated that they the waiter fill out allergen card to alert staff and also told how the cook staff avoids cross contact (changes gloves, changes cookware, etc)

Good gluten free pasta! Pretty much everything can be made gluten free with exceptions to the ravioli and lasagna. Cook staff knows to remove breading croutons etc when shown allergen card marked gluten free. And if you order a pasta dish, you get one to take home at no extra cost!

What an experience! We had six gluten-free members in our party of 16. I had set up a menu were at least half of the dishes could be done gluten-free and they went above and beyond doing the entire menu gluten-free. We tested several of the dishes with our Nima sensor and they all came out gluten-free. Our waiter Addison was very knowledgeable about celiac disease. It was a wonderful experience for our party to be able to try so many different dishes and not get sick. Highly recommend the chop salad, spinach and artichoke dip, chicken piccata which they made a gluten-free version, the braised beef falls apart with your fork and The crème brûlée is fabulous! I ordered a gluten free pasta and had several regular pieces of spaghetti mixed in. The chef and manager came to the table to apologize, comped the meal, and offered gift cards to come back. The chef essentially said it was a “busy night in the kitchen and a noodle might of fallen in.” Yet there were several mixed throughout. I’m not sure if they use the same utensils or it’s pre made sauces. I thought it might be a fluke thing but apparently this has happened to almost every person who ordered GF. Do yourself a favor and avoid the pasta dishes- aka don’t eat here.

We heard this restaurant was rated the best chain for folks with allergies and I saw many great reviews on Find Me Gluten Free so we went in with high hopes. I was very disappointed by how few options I had to choose from. They do not have gluten free bread (so no bruschetta), most of their appetizers are breaded and/ or cooked in a shared fryer. They have ONE GF pasta choice (penne) that they can convert SOME of their dishes with. The pasta wasn't cooked well and was a bit rubbery. Limited dessert menu but I will say they do a great creme brulee.

He then explained what I could eat or modifications that could be made, and upon ordered my salad (the chopped starter salad - which was DELICIOUS!) and our server suggested I leave off the crispy pancetta because even though it itself is GF, it was apparently cooked in a fryer shared with the calamari so he suggested I omit it from my salad which was so appreciated! Portions were huge, food was delicious, and atmosphere was neat. Definitely book a reservation ahead of time if you can - we had one and by the looks of the line it saved us a lot of time.
