Three celiacs ate here and had a wonderful experience. The chef came out to talk to us so we knew what we could order. He made chicken parmesan without the breading, and two meals with alfredo sauce gluten free. He assured us he could do it without getting us sick and he was right. No one got sick and my dancer did great the next day. I would definitely come again.
Very understanding about gluten allergies. If you tell your waiter you can't have gluten, the chef will come out and talk to you personally about your allergy, and discuss your options on the menu with you. I had the gf penne, which is corn based. It was very good, when it had absorbed enough sauce, otherwise it can be crunchy. They even do the dinner today, dinner tomorrow deal with gf pasta, so you can take some leftovers too.
I am so impressed! Not only was our server familiar with celiac disease, but the chef actually came out to speak to us about our planned order, providing personal recommendations and a great explanation of how they safely prepare gluten free dishes. This was such a great experience, and the first to make this celiac’s dining experience a relaxed one!
Fantastic experience! Chef Brandon came to our table to tell me what was safe and to take my order. He also offered me a gluten free bread loaf and a complimentary GF appetizer. I have a wonderful meal. The staff was amazing. Highly recommend this place! We’ll be back!
I’ve eaten here 2 times. The first time I ordered pasta and had no problems with it and it was delicious. The second time I ate there, I ordered the same meal and noticed the noodles were a different type than the last time. When I asked about it, I found out that they had given me non gluten free noodles. Luckily I hadn’t eaten any yet. They fixed the mistake and brought out the correct meal, which I had no problem. Staff needs to be more attentive. I won’t go back.
The first time I went here, they told me they could make chicken parm gluten free, so I ordered that. Well, what I got was an unseasoned piece of grilled chicken with an unmelted piece of cheese on top and some tomato sauce. Not good. The second time I went here, I ordered gluten free pasta. The pasta was undercooked, the sauce was watery and bland. I’ve never gotten sick from eating here, but the food is awful and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
Chef comes to your table to understand your dietary restrictions and then custom prepares and cooks you a meal. 100 percent celiac safe when you talk to the chef. The food taste great and the service is excellent!
Tonight my husband and I shared the chicken parmigiana and the grilled chicken caprese salad both were made gluten free. It was so delish. The chicken parmigiana was “breaded” in crushed potato chips and it was sooooo crispy. After I ordered everything gluten free with the waiter, the sous chef (who was preparing our meal) came out and talked with me about the food and any other allergens I needed to be careful of. The restaurant can get busy and they take reservations with a minimum of an hour before.
Ate at Maggiano’s in the Springhill Mall. We’ve had no problem with Maggiano’s anywhere else, and have always been told that sauces were gluten free with the gf pasta. At this location, we were told every sauce had gluten except for marinara. We were also told that mashed potatoes had gluten. We lost faith that the chef even knew what gluten was and decided against ordering anything for our two celiac children.

It's hit or miss, got GF pasta, a piece if regular pasta was stuck to the bottom of the plate. They were like, oh well. I was sick.
Able to customise most of menu to gluten free. So delicious and staff are very accommodating and friendly even offering to introduce us to the chief for peace of mind. I feel so safe eating here.
Manager took my order, assured me everything would be fine but I’m horribly ill within 30 minutes of eating there
This is my second time visiting and it was amazing. They have a gf penne pasta that can be paired with different sauces. I've had the baked ziti both times. The chef came out to discuss my allergies and assure me of their practices and wanted to know if I would like some gf bread. He said they just got it in and it takes 10 minutes to bake which of course, yes please! They were yummy squishy goodness!
All their sauces and drawings are GF, so almost everything in the menu can be prepared gluten free. Staff was knowledgeable. Manager came out and confirmed my order and said he would take care if it. When food was served, they mentioned that it was prepared GF. Food was very good and I felt very confident eating
This place was wonderful. The chef came out and talked with me because I have multiple allergies. I got beef medallions and potatoes that he fixed according to my allergies. The food was wonderful, waiter extremely nice and helpful.
UPDATE: They no longer carry gluten free rolls. Said they are lookimg for a new vendor, but it's been about 6 months. Also no GF lunch specials unless you want 2 half salads w/out protein. Original Review: The first time I ate here was fine. The second time they were out of GF rolls so they asked if they could comp by sending me an additional pasta home. I thought that was great and ordered the veggie penne with GF noodles (obvs). Well they sent me home with WHEAT pasta!!!! I ate 1/4 of the dish before realizing something was wrong. The noodles looked exactly the same as the GF option except orange, and the texture was softer. I became extremely ill that night and the entire next day. My boyfriend ate the rest of the dish and confirmed it was exactly the same as what he has eaten at the restaurant (ie wheat noodles). I'm not sure if I want to eat here again. GF control is pretty good for dining in, but I'll never do take out again. The gluten free rolls are awful, imo and not worth the calories. They could buy any brand of rolls literally anywhere and they would taste better. Not sure why they haven't caught on yet... they also take FOREVER to come out even though they supposedly start them as soon as you sit down.
I’ve been here twice now. The food is great.. but the last time, when I was almost done eating, I found a piece of fettuccini in my dish. I asked if they have any pasta other than penne that is gluten free (since most places don’t) and the waitress confirmed they do not. I pointed out the piece of fettuccini and said “so this is not gluten free?” and she said no it’s not and apologized several times. I told her I’m not celiac so cross contamination won’t hurt me but it’d be much different if it happened to someone who was. She offered to remake the dish but I declined since I was practically done anyway but asked that she please address it with the staff. The manager came out seconds later and apologized repeatedly. He said he was extremely embarrassed and he had already ripped the cooks a new one. He said they pride themselves on accommodating food allergies so he was very angry that it happened. He removed the dish from the bill, comped two desserts my friend and I ordered, as well as an extra side my friend had. His response left me confident it’s not a common occurrence and it was/would be appropriately handled. I would be hesitant to go back if I were celiac, but since I’m only gluten sensitive, I will return. I wanted to share my experience though for those with celiac since this could be a major issue for them.
Great food, gluten-free penne pasta, creme brûlée and they even have gluten-free bread!!! I’m not sure how much they control cross contamination, but they really try.
Surprisingly had a very good experience here allergy wise. Though there is not a separate gf menu and the chef did not come out, our waitress was highly knowledgeable about which items could be modified to be gf. In fact one of the first things she asked us was if anyone had an food allergies. She really took the time to go over the menu with me and assured it would be prepared carefully. My pasta was brought out separately and it was announced gf. Creme brulee for dessert. No sickies and I was very happy.
Wonderful experience and delicious food. The gluten free bread basket was a yummy treat (we got a refill, too!) and it was so nice to have many options to choose from. Our waitress had the manager come over and talk to us about the different options and the food was prepared separately. Everything was so good! We’re excited to return.
Perfection is an understatement! The atmosphere and service was excellent! We had the Lobster pasta dish and supplemented the GF pasta. It was superb. The Chef came at and assured us he would make ours separate with no risk of cross contamination. Finished our meal with Creme Brûlée, also superb!
Waitress explained that they cater to people with allergies. The chef came out and talked to me: all sauces are gf, they have a gf penne pasta. Most dishes, with the exception of the lasagna, can be modified to be gf! Food was amazing!!!
Just ask to speak with the chef. Chef took the bread we brought and made it into garlic bread. It was amazing!! Extremely pleased and will definitely go back again. Our chef was Terrance.
Highly recommend this place. The prices are reasonable and there are lots of options. The chef came out to talk to me about the menu and told me my food would be prepared in a separate part of the kitchen.
I had previously given this place a 4 star rating but now I have to change that. My past 2 experiences have been awful. I was invited back due to a bad experience and during my 2nd visit it was worse. No care about my allergy. My what should have been gluten free pasta was not. I sent it back and got gluten free soup. Yup my Alfredo sauce was so thin it was soup. I told the server and he said he would get me another. I didn't want another so he said he would get me one to go. In my bag when I got home was a gluten Alfredo not gluten free. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager who said "what do you want a gift card". I told him I expected what I paid for. Since that is the 2nd time they have not taken my allergy serious no more Magginos for me.
Unfortunately this place is not suitable for actual celiacs (perhaps for people that are gluten intolerant but defo not celiacs). I got very sick after eating here about 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the effects of the cross contamination. Now I must also say that all the staff were extremely attentive, helpful and friendly and I do think they tried everything to avoid any contamination, however in this instance whatever approach they took didn't work. It's a pity as this restaurant had all good reviews by this app so I assumed I would have no problems. I write this review very heavyhearted as I don't like to say bad things about places that have nice staff and that have tried but I feel it's important to warn any other celiacs that there's a cross contamination possibility here as I don't want more people to have a reaction. So please be careful.
This location does an extraordinary job ensuring that you have a safe experience at their restaurant. Chef took my order and hand delivered my salad, meal, and dessert!!! Went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable answering any and all questions regarding gluten free options and cross contamination....Would eat here 100 times over!!! Thank you!!!!!
The downtown location does an amazing job including the chef coming to speak to you and serving your food. I have eaten at the Englewood location twice and the chef did not come speak to us on either occasion. The first visit, I was sick the next day. This visit, my food was placed in front of me with meatball and marinara sauce on my GF mashed potatoes, clearly contaminated. When the food was pointed out to the waitress the scoop of potatoes was replaced on the same plate of food. I cannot be certain if the rest of my meal was contaminated by the food from another plate that was obviously splashed onto my plate. My daughters meal (who also has celiac). Appeared to be fine. When we asked for her meal to be bagged to go separately, it was included with the other pasta dishes. Disappointed since we have had such amazing experiences at the downtown location!!!!
Waiter didn’t know what celiac is... but I asked for the chef and he took care of me. Great option.
GF and allergy friendly. Chef came to speak with us, recommended dishes and was knowledgeable and reassuring. Daughter ate several times and have never gotten sick (celiac) or allergic (dairy, eggs, nuts). Also delicious food and easy going atmosphere.
I previously came here once in the past and let them know that I have celiac disease. They were very accommodating and even brought out the chef to make sure I was okay. However, the second time that I came was very different. The server seemed to brush off my illness and said that she would handle it all without needing to bring out the chef. Unfortunately, I became ill within 10-15 minutes and was throwing up all night. I won’t be coming back here.

They have a dedicated, separate kitchen! The food is fantastic, and you can order nearly anything on the menu and explain that it needs to be gluten-free. They take dietary issues seriously. All dishes are made from scratch and modified to be completely safe. I was extremely impressed! Edit, 12/18: my second visit here, and I want all of you to know that the staff is still knowledgeable about making GF accommodations, this restaurant is very safe, and the beef tenderloin medallions are maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted.

I used to eat here all the time with no issue. However, over the past year or so, almost every time I have ordered pasta there has been one gluten noodle mixed in. No one can tell me why this is happening or how they keep pastas separate. I have made it a point to tell them about this and try to keep it from happening again, but it keeps happening. Sad to say I may not be back.
I have been to this location before but this visit was disappointing. Chef did not come out and talk to me about options. I was told I couldn’t have a few of the salads so I skipped that. I had a bland version of Chicken Marsala and they brought that out with a side of plain GF noodles. Wasn’t exactly what I expected. I asked the waitress to put some red sauce on it, which she did, but when she returned the noodles were cold. I have been to other locations that went above and beyond and had GF bread!
No dedicated GF menu, but most dishes can be prepared GF (except lasagna. Ravioli, etc.). Chef cane out to discuss recommendations and personally cooked my meal to avoid cc. Great experience!
The waiter was great! The restaurant boasts that they are allergen friendly, but then the chef refused to alter my meal. The waiter and manager tried repeatedly to get me to order another item which I couldn't do because it was the only item that met all my allergy needs with only one (gluten) alteration needed. After I restated my specific needs over and over again the manager finally made my meal herself. We ended up waiting quite a long time and were made to feel pretty lousy about the whole thing. It was a let down and a waste of time for us. Don't go to this restaurant if you want to eat without a hassle.
I had been kind of worried about going to a Maggiano's because of the reviews but our usual Italian place lost power so we decided to try it. I felt really good about the fact that the staff knew the protocol, from the hostess to the waiter and chef. To be safe I went for a non pasta dish and ordered the filet and risotto which was delicious! I didn't have any issues and I can usually tell pretty quickly after starting to eat. I had a good experience.
Knowledgeable staff, super aware and accommodating of a Celiac’s GF needs. The Chef personally took our GF diner’s order table-side. We’ll certainly dine here again.
Soon after sitting down, the staff asked if anyone in the party had any food allergies. After telling him I was gluten free, he offered some menu suggestions. The manager stopped by after my third choice still wouldn’t quite work, but was willing to change the meat option to accommodate my needs.
