I have been to several other Maggie McFlys and my experience was always great but at this location:
1. I saw a server in the restroom leave the stall and walk out immediately *without* washing her hands. That already grossed me out but I tried to explain it away like maybe I was somehow saw it wrong.
2. After explicitly telling my server (a different server than I saw in the restroom) I have Celiac and can’t have gluten or any CC, my steak came out and there was a half inch piece of fettuccine on the plate. ??? It’s not like the dish was even supposed to have pasta and I requested no pasta… literally a random piece of gluten — the ONE thing that I cannot eat— came out on my plate. There was only one other thing on the plate, steak and a piece of fettuccine. They apologized and offered to remake it but I had zero confidence that it would be safe…. Oh the manager also offered me something else “like a plain salad” ??? I wanted the steak!! (Which looked really good bTW, if the plate hadn’t been poisoned!)
Go at your own peril.
Oh and it wasn’t even busy! Less than half full.
It’s just really disappointing because they have a great, well marked, GF menu. And other Maggie McFlys have always been SO great for me.
They have a dedicated gluten free fryer which makes ordering a lot better. Lots of gluten free options
Awful. Specifically stated that both my friend and I were gluten free and ordered the gluten free chicken strips. They brought them over and we ate most of them and then our waiter finally came over and informed us that those in fact were not the gluten free chicken strips. Not celiac friendly.
My family loves this restaurant, but I have dietary restrictions against both gluten and dairy, so it is extremely frustrating that many of their gluten-free substitutes contain cheese. They also claim their fries are gluten-free, but they are not. Staff does not seem educated about what does and does not contain gluten. Might be okay if you are gluten-free by choice and don't mind the occasional slip-up, but would not recommend for those with an intolerance or allergy.
Good gf pizza and chocolate torte for dessert. Waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable of gluten free though
They make me feel comfortable eatting out again! I love that they have a Gluten Free fryer and Mamas cheesebread is sooo good even my non-GF friends order it!
Ordered a gluten free salad and added chicken -- which they tossed in a teriyaki marinade. No concept of what is gluten free. I would not trust the food here.
I've lived down the street and eating here regularly for a very long time. Their GF options keep growing! Thanks Maggie's!
Excellent! Great selection of g-free items on the standard menu. (no having to ask for a separate menu) Only complaint is that the fries aren't gluten-free. Which is a bummer since the burger buns are the best weve had out. Burger without fries = :(
Ok, so, I did not eat dinner. BUT I did get the “choc full o’ chips” dessert…..oh goodness gracious what a literal gift from God. A WARM I TELL YOU WARM CUPCAKE, moist and warm and delicious….with frosting and a chocolate chip cookie on top of the frosting which had chocolate chips in it….I am 32, I was diagnosed with Celiac when I was 19, I do not remember the last time I had a gluten free WARM dessert food….I am blown away. I told them I was celiac, and my waitress was incredibly careful. So so so delicious. I am honestly still reeling. I did not feel even the slightest bit sick. Please get this at some point.
Last week I Ordered from the gluten-free menu and was also informed by the server taking my order that the food was being prepared separately. I ended up ordering the fried pickles and the southern fried chicken meal. When I received the pickles, there were pieces of regular French fries there. I also ended up breaking out and had a huge headache after eating the entrée. I was sick for the whole week. The other location in Glastonbury was way better and practiced clean food handling, and the food quality was much better. I guess it was wrong for me to expect the same experience at a different location. People with Celiac disease, please beware!
