Was waited on by owner. Asked what he recommended for GF…..tons of options. Very knowledgeable. Very accommodating. Great waterfront outside atmosphere. Food was delicious. I had Peruvian shrimp skillet with fries, coleslaw and a Froze’, which is a frozen rose’. Very refreshing. Hubs had shrimp tacos. We both loved our meals. Owner explained they don’t have anything “breaded” on the menu, which makes the fryer safe. Writing this review 3 hours after consumption….and feel great. Highly recommend.

All i can say about this place is UUUHHH-MAZING! The owners are so friendly and take such good care of you and make sure you have everything you need. The food is so tasty. Everything is cooked in peanut oil. The only thing that has gluten, that we can tell, is the bread for the sandwiches and hot dogs). I’m VERY sensitive to gluten, having celiac, and get very sick even with cross contamination, but no problems here at all. We’ve had the loaded fries (fries are hand cut and HUGE and taste great), Mahi tacos (to die for), blackened shrimp tacos (the best we’ve ever eaten), the piña colada and margaritas. Every single thing we’ve eaten is amazing and we can’t get enough! Thank you to the owners! You have an AMAZING place here. We look forward to coming for the years to come! So thankful we found this little gem!

My daughter has Celiac. We ate here while on vacation on South Padre and it was great. She has not been able to have fries for a while but she could here and they were great so she was so happy. The only things they have here with gluten are the buns for the burgers/sandwiches so the frier does not have anything with gluten in it ever. She had the shrimp tacos and loved them with no issues.

I can't say enough good things about Mahi Nate. You are sitting on the dock beside the water. He sometimes has life musicians playing. But the food, yes! The fries are the best I have ever had (gluten or gluten free). He uses peanut oil. The only other thing that goes into that oil is unbattered chicken. I usually have one of the tacos, either blackened shrimp or fish. Last night, I had the Mahi tacos. I need to go here more often. I love just sitting outside on the dock looking at the boats, water, and sunset. Everyone should visit this place at least once.
***update new name is Mahi Nic! Same great menu and food. I love the chicken wings and the burger (no bun) is good too.

This cute unassuming little treasure is tucked away but worth the search! The mahi fish tacos are amazing! This is a must stop if your here in South Padre. The French fries are so good too! We will be back for sure!

Amazing people. Celaic Disease Friendly. Freat food. Nothing breaded on menu. They use peanut oil for the fries. Shared picture of fries order. They have a great menu. Child only wantes fries; had enough left over dinner. Reheated in the oven for few minutes and still rasted great. Only gluten is in the buns. Also, name on building: Mahi Nic
Yes
None of the food in this restaurant is fried, so there is no possibility for cross contamination! The staff was very knowledgeable of celiac disease and told me I could eat everything but their hamburger buns!
I got the Mahi Tacos and they were absolutely delicious!! The tacos come already gluten free, even the fries! They are for sure the best fries I have ever had!! They are huge and delicious!!
The restaurant is now called Mahi Nic and not Mahi Nate, but it is a hidden gem and definitely worth going to when in South Padre!!
