DELICIOUS poke bowl. Easily made it GF if you ask. Just left off a sauce and seaweed salad. Lots of fresh fish in the bowl

They were very knowledgeable about gluten-free and adjusted my ahi roll and poke bowl to both be gf. They came up to me and confirmed again my sauce was gluten free soy (showed me the bottle) which was conscientious. Really fresh fun stand in the grocery. Love supporting local great folks like this.

Great for a quick bite. I had the hapa sushi roll. It was very tasty. Staff was very knowledgeable and provided gluten free soy sauce.

Awesome gluten free sushi and poke bowls! It’s actually at a counter inside a little grocery store- that actually has some gluten free frozen breads etc and a juice bar! Everything on the sushi menu can be made gluten free except the eel roll they said. We got a tuna roll, a tuna poke bowl, and a mixed poke bowl with salmon, tuna, and white fish and they were all great!

Ordered the gorilla bowl (assuming it was GF) but after it was made my husband realized it was made with eel sauce mixed in. They were insistent about making me a new GF bowl- so nice about it. I felt bad. But then I ate the amazing bowl and felt ten times better

Literally the best sushi ever! Most of the Sushi by my house substitutes flavor to make it gluten free...Makai does no such thing!!! The flavor is only matched by the super friendly service. It's a tiny place. Recommend ordering ahead, because it is popular with locals too. It's right inside a Healthfood store that has a lot of local gf products, and an awesome juice bar in it! You will not be sad you read this review, and decided to try it. I am so glad the first place we tried on the gf app wasn't open. Blessing! I'll be back to visit at least 1-2 more times before I leave Friday! Reasonably priced for portion size. Gorilla bowl was my fav! They did not skimp on the masago, and I love them for that! Yay. They nailed it!!

So incredibly good. We will be in Kauai for another week, and we plan to come back at least twice more. This place is inside the little supermarket, and only has seats at the bar for four, so we got ours to go and ate outside. Around four regular menu items and two specials were offered, around $15 each. All could be made gluten free. I got the ahi bowl, and sampled some of the spicy ahi roll. Both were amazing, but I definitely prefer the bowl. Our friends don't like raw fish, so they got the California roll, made with real crab, and said that it was unusually excellent.

Makai Sushi has the most fresh ingredients than any other sushi on the South Side. All of the ingredients are listed on the menu and can be modified to be gluten free! The said sushi chefs are very knowledgeable and caring with food allergies, they take the proper precautions when making a gluten free dish. I recommend the Spicy Ahi Tuna Roll minus the Masago- it's AMAZING!
