Both times we've eaten here they were safe. They changed their base sauces, so they're all GF. Uses a separate wok and management is very understanding.
Bottom line: the food was decent, staff took care with my food, and I didn’t get sick. Staff could have been more knowledgeable, however, they asked questions and made sure they got it right. They assured me I wouldn’t get sick and they wanted to be careful which I sincerely appreciate. The fact that not all their staff was 100% knowledgeable is why I have them 4/5. If I lived in the area I’d return.
Great food nice gluten free atmosphere. Just let them know your if your celiac.
I have eaten here several times and never been sick. I have eaten the cauliflower fried rice several times.
Terrible food! Bland and lacking flavor. Disorganized and had difficulty filling simple online order.
Lots of gluten free items on their menu.
First time back since being diagnosed with Celiac and I was pleasently surprised with my visit. Tons of options for gluten free. Check out their website for more info on what they have to offer. This location broke off from the main franchise and has stepped up their game big time imo.
I love the options and food here. However, be aware that the peanut sauce is NOT gf. They gave me that accidentally even with my order stating gluten free. I ate some before they realized the mistake.
Food is great. But when you have Celiac and order gluten free and find a noodle in your “gluten free” rice......not so gluten free.😞 I was told they take precautions, obviously not. I may as well be prepared to spend the next few days in the bathroom😞
Food isn't too bad and there is a GF menu. I'm still unsure why they buy tofu with gluten?! That makes a ton of veggie dishes out of reach. It would be better if they changed this. If you guys get GF tofu I’ll change it it 5 stars!! Really. You’re leaving us GF vegetarians in the cold.
Called them and they said they do not wash the pans between gluten food and gluten free foods. Will not be eatting here.
Oh man I love supporting local, but Mama Fu's needs to decide what kind of restaurant it is and then learn how to properly flavor food. They used to be decent (not amazing), but now they change the menu with so many wacky specials that they forgot how to cook classics.
Be very careful about ordering because the menu states that the GF marked entrees “can be made GF” but they are not GF already. For example: the vermicelli is marked as GF but the peanut sauce contains wheat (so I left that off). The manager came out to talk to me after we had placed our order and explained that some of the side sauces were not GF and I was grateful for that!
Excellent food. Had the sweet and sour chicken last week. It was so good I had to come back this week. This time, I got the edamame, pork fried rice, and sesame chicken. once again, delicious!
Have gotten to go orders twice here in past 2 weeks with no problems/reaction. First was a broccoli chicken in brown sauce that was very good. Second I tried cashew chicken stir fry but subbed the brown sauce for stir fry sauce and it wasn’t as good. Next time I will try chicken with sweet/sour which they say is very popular. (I will avoid cashews eating out in general from now on since later realized some could be from plant that processed wheat, but luckily had no issues with mama fu’s). Staff training was excellent and they put gluten allergy on computer order and is clearly printed on top of to go box. Seems extremely safe with a lot of options. Thanks Mama Fu’s!
Great gluten free menu. loved it. wasn't sure about it at first but didn't get sick at all!! definitely going back
Chinese can be very iffy on GF options but this place does an amazing job! Everything is labeled clearly and they have so many options! I love the ginger sauce and lettuce wraps. They even have GF soy sauce you can use! Hands down my favorite Chinese place!
good place to come eat. I like the gluten free menu. I will come again.
Have had dinner from this location several times without incident. However this past week was an unforgettable dinner and I’ll never eat there again. I got so sick and do not think the food was properly prepared or it was not GF. Employees need to be trained on proper preparation of GF items or not offer GF at all.
They have the best GF fried Calamari! Lots of GF items, just make sure that you explain your needs,. The asian slaw is NOT gf, and they use it as decoration on plates. Soups, appetizers, great place!!!!
Talk to the manager before eating there is you have Celiac disease. I spoke with the manager about their "gluten free" menu; he said they cook GF food in the same fryers as gluten food; cook on same cooking surfaces. I won't eat there.
FINALLY Asian food that is gluten free, inexpensive, and delicious! This place is amazing! TONS of gluten free options and they cook it in a separate area with clean utensils. They even have bottles of gluten free soy sauce available.
i've tried ordering here three times and three times i've gotten sick. don't know why they're not serious about their gf options. they have a wide variety of choices but i've been sickened all 3 times.
Finally a GF option in the neighborhood! Clearly marked menu and helpful staff. To-go order was labeled GF and was on receipt.
I've had a great experience here many times. Their posted GF menu is limited, but if you ask nicely they have the ability to make many dishes GF. I have not had any problems with cross contamination, and I've been here many times.
Delicious GF and soy free fried rice & excellent GF calamari!!! So yummy! A definite must when in Waco!
Celiac friendly, LOTS of GF options on dedicated menu. Chinese food is a notch below Pei-Wei, but that is easily endured for the safety of their GF menu. Wife has hyper-sensitive celiac disease. She ate here several times with no incident.
lots of gluten free options on the menu. always fresh and delicious. i enjoy the gluten-free sesame chicken with gluten free fried rice . if you order a side salad make sure to request no fried wontons on top.
Mama fus is supposed to be pretty safe for gluten free. In most cases I would say this is true. This particular location I have had multiple complications on multiple visits spanning since they have opened. I tried them again hoping things would change. I want to believe it is safe, yet always something is amiss. No orange in my orange chicken? Noodles in my other meal, twice in a row. Etc. it sucks but you can't trust this location to not make you sick.
Is very gluten free, but it kinda seems like they just take the sauce off of everything, which leaves it bland and every dish tastes the same. Website says they us tamari in their gf sauces instead of soy sauce... But this location maybe doesn't? I've never gotten sick but I do wish they would use gf sauces
There's really only two entrees "gluten free" to choose from. They have no idea what cross contamination is. I ordered a dish with rice, and they gave me rice which was not gluten free. They "redid" the plate by scooping the rice off and adding the right rice. Save your money and don't get sick eating here
Had general tso chicken and brown rice from gluten free menu and have been sick all day since--6 hours and looks like sick will be here thru the day. I need serious probiotics to fix the GI complaints
Not Gluten Free! A manager confirmed this when discussing their hotside operations. They cook GF food in same fryers as gluten containing products; same with other cooking methods. Their food is not gluten free. Resturant should make that clear on their menu.
Now that they have a gluten free menu, with tons of selections, eating here is much easier! I was skeptical of their menu because most Asian dishes include soy sauce or some other sauce with wheat in it, but I have not had any reactions!
the gluten free menu is large with plenty of choices. we ate dinner there and had a few minor issues with the waiter not knowing much about gluten alergies. overall the food tasted good and we had no issues afterwards.
