My initial contact with waiter would have normally made me run for the hills. Me: are any of your signature cocktails gluten free? Waiter: they all are, none are made with beer😬. Turned out only their manhattan was gf. Luckily, due to all the perfect scores I pushed on. They hand cut all of their gluten free pasta. It is not listed on menu, but you can get ravioli and gnocchi in addition to other noodles. It was very good. They also make their own gluten free bread. Highly recommend.
Haven’t been but I’m assuming this place has flour floating all over the place if they make from scratch stuff, they also probably share equipment to make their gf stuff. This makes me nervous and sad that my fellow celiac don’t seem so think about that. Just because you are asymptomatic doesn’t mean you are not causing damage
We are always so nervous to eat out but we had a great experience at Marcella’s. The staff were very ice and the gluten free menu is extensive including antipasto, cheeses, salads, appetizers, pizzas, pastas, and entrees. We had the carpaccio (comes over a bed of arugula), caprese salad and chicken Marsala. All were delicious and, more importantly, no one got sick (Celiac Disease). A little on the loud side but not too bad. Everyone looked to be enjoying themselves.
They are EXTREMELY celiac friendly and have a huge gluten free menu. When I told the waiter I was gluten free, he assured me (before I could even ask) that they would take extra precaution in the kitchen. He brought me gluten free bread, that they make fresh, to the table. I ordered gluten free chicken parmesan, which they do bread with gluten free breadcrumbs. It came with a side of gluten free pasta with Alfredo sauce. I’ve been diagnosed with celiac for 5 years now, and have never come across a restaurant this accommodating and delicious.
We had dinner here last night. Two adults, two children. Two of us with Celiac. They were very accommodating. They have a great GF menu including bread for the table. They answered all questions and reassured us even as I asked multiple times to verify that the pasta was GF.
I was super impressed with how comfortable this restaurant made me feel and how great the food was. My husband noted that I have Celiac disease when he made the reservation, and they automatically gave me a full gluten-free menu that even included cocktails—all with prices (one of my pet peeves is GF menus that don't list prices). Our interaction with our server started with her bringing gluten-free bread for the table. Then she went over the specials and noted which one was gluten-free. I ended up getting a caprese salad and that special, which was risotto with taleggio cheese, chicken, mushrooms and truffles, and both were incredible. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
Actually went to the Polaris location. Very extensive GF menu and they GF seriously. The bill had "Allergy Gluten" marked on my selections. They brought me GF bread to dip in olive oil. I got a Caesar salad that had yummy Parmesan crisps and also ordered a pizza because of previous reviews. It was a flat bread pizza and rather than tomato sauce there were tomatoes. Very good meal and enjoyed eating outside. Highly recommend.
My wife has Celiac disease with dairy intolerance, and enjoyed the food with no reaction. She had the roasted cauliflower appetizer, Marcella's chopped salad, and penne all a Arrabiatta. She said the penne dish was spicy and delicious. I tried the GF chicken parmesan (unbreaded with cheese), which tasted amazing. Good GF pasta (penne). The food was amazing, and the environment was warm and welcoming. We'll definitely come back when visiting Columbus in the future.
YES. Ordered a take-out gluten-free margarita pizza and it was delicious! They have an extensive GF menu (which is great for celiacs like me). The GF dough was not an up charge like at many other places, so the cost was totally reasonable. Cool atmosphere. I want to go back and try more!
Seems like they are good about cross contamination and everything, which I appreciate. But I got a pasta dish for pick up and the serving size was a box the size of my hand, for $16! Small for the price. I had the carbonara which is my go-to pasta and truthfully I didn't really like theirs much even aside from the price. UPDATE: went another time and got a gf 4 cheese pizza and holy mackerel that was good! They also gave me gf bread which was awesome. I'll be back for the pizza
Food is DELICIOUS!! I was traveling for a conference decided to do take out. Got a sausage, mushroom, black olive pizza (I posted a pic) it was so stinkin good. Olives are a bit salty so I'd leave them off next time. GF bread with my order was the selling point! It's a focaccia style with seasoning and a side of dipping oil; it was soft and delectable. You should absolutely visit this restaurant!!
Huge gf menu, gf bread....lots of options and as a celiac I felt very safe and didn't get sick. The food is heavy and has lots of garlic (lots). It's a solid safe option but overall it wasn't a favorite of mine. I had a gf risotto with sausage and broccoli and my celiac daughter had gf pasta with Alfredo sauce. The gf bread has a strong garlic taste on the crust. Nice to have a safe place to eat while visiting the Columbus convention center. I wish we had tried the pizzas.
Best. Gluten free restaurant. Ever. This is my all-time favorite place! They basically offer gluten free options for their entire menu! The gluten free bread is made to order and is amazing! The pizzas are fabulous, the pasta is outstanding- they truly make you feel like you don't have any sort of dietary restriction. It's a must-visit for anyone on a gluten free diet!
Marcella's was so delicious. They were very aware of celiac disease and gluten free. The waiter brought out bread and it was amazing and because it was so good, he cooked more for us to take home. The pizza was delicious. The service was amazing and they were so nice. Wish we could have gone back , but we were only there that day.
Oh my god, best gluten free good ever! Though the wait was semi long it was worth that and even longer. When I asked for the gluten free menu upon seating the manager came over and reassumed me they had their own oven for their to die for gluten free bread (best I've ever had) and pizza (tasted like the real thing!) I decided to have gluten free penne Bolognese and my date had the pizza. Best meal of my life, I will definitely be a frequent visitor. As a celiac who is sensitive I felt great afterwards!!! Wish I could give it 10 stars!
Great food, great service. Was willing to accommodate my food allergies and helped me find a safe meal. Haven’t had chicken piccata with lemon and capers in years. Delicious and filling - definitely recommend!
This place is heaven for a celiac. Separate oven for GF pizza, separate water for GF pasta. AMAZING, Fresh food and super knowledgeable staff. The melon and prosciutto is to die for. And GF bread ... hooray!
We are visiting Columbus from out of town and tried this resturant based solely on the great reviews on here. This restuarant is such an awesome find! Such a great variety of GF menu options it was hard to decide! We had the warm olive appetizer to share then I had the shrimp and lobster risotto with my own little plate of their DELICIOUS GF bread dipped in my own plate of EVOO. The bread was topped with herbs and had more of a "quick bread" texture but tasted amazing. I thought my days of warm bread at my table in a resturant were over. Such a treat!
The waiter was super helpful with choosing my meal and knew what desserts I could get without needing to check with anyone. He also gave me an extra helping of their gluten free bread to go! Loved it!
Fantastic GF menu!!! Food was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable with food allergies (gluten especially). Plus, they have good GF bread. Our server even sent us home with some bread (Big score in our book!!!). Definitely recommend Marcella’s!
Amazing Staff and the food was FANTASTIC! They were very knowledgeable and took the extra step whenever an opportunity presented itself. Their staff member Jordan couldn't have done a better job. It was our family's best gluten free dining experience. Three of us are gluten free while the other three have no dietary restrictions. He made the whole table feel special.
The absolute best GF restaurant in Columbus. They take it very seriously, have separate prep areas and even a dedicated GF oven for pizza to be safe. They will also bake you fresh bread to enjoy while waiting for your meal. I feel 100% safe here
Since being diagnosed with celiac disease, the only thing I have missed is "easy" pizza that still tastes good. Either we do somewhere and they have a GF crust but not a dedicated over or they have both but it tastes terrible. I finally have a pizza! After reading the MANY positive reviews, I made a reservation at Marcella's and made sure to mention that I had CD. When I got there, they acknowledged the need for a GF menu and brought it to the table. The server, Nick, ALSO acknowledged my need for GF safety and assured me that it would not be an issue. When the server is on board, I always feel better. To my surprise, Chef James came out to greet us and let me know that they were prepared to make and experienced at making GF selections. He was very proud to let us know that Marcella's takes food allergies very seriously. I felt great! I ordered the GF Margherita D.O.C. pizza and small salad. Nick brought out a basket of good gluten free bread. It was a bit dense but very herby and flavorful. The salad was just like any side salad you would expect. The pizza was a bit more like a flatbread pizza BUT the crust was slightly crispy and slightly chewy and it tasted like CRUST! Not some odd bland, wheaty mixture. I was thrilled. I ate a little over half before I got full and then I took the rest home (which was finished off the next night). I did not get sick the next day nor did I experience any symptoms that evening. Right now, if I'm jones-ing pizza, this is going to be my go-to. Very pleased with the experience. Oh, and if you don't think they aren't on top of the allergy-thing, take a look at the receipt.
This place is amazing...the menu has so many options and they actually have GF ravioli!! The server was very knowledgeable and everything was so good we came back the second day for lunch. My GF New York-Italian friend and his father came here and they both loved it as well. Was happy to finally find a GF restaurant that served excellent Italian food!!
Very good gluten free menu. Lots to choose from. Asked the server about where the gluten free food is prepared and said they had a separate area just used for gluten free food. My wife and I shared a gluten free pizza and each had a salad. Gluten free crust was very good. Recommend the crispy potato pizza! They even had gluten free bread to have with my salad. I felt very safe eating here and staff was well informed. This will be my go to Italian Restaurant in the Columbus area.
With 3 little ones with Celiac Disease, we rarely eat out...let alone Italian. Marcella's staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have separate prep areas and utensils. Would definitely recommend.
we went for lunch and it was delicious. they brought out hot gf bread. my husband and I split a lobster and shrimp salad and a pepperoni and sausage pizza. it was great. the server mentioned that we could customize any of the menu items. we didn't but it was nice that they were so accommodating.
Highly recommend this restaurant for especially those looking for gluten free / celiac disease. We have a difficult time with cross contamination and the chef and staff are VERY accommodating and friendly. 😊 They also serve gf bread that is wonderful. The chef us also working on more gf options and you just cannot ask for more! Thanks so much to the owners for their care and response to our gf community. 😉
What can I say but Perfection! Many gf choices here & they brought me gf bread before my meal. That's never happened before! I chose the crispy potato pizza which was uniquely different. Gr8 crust. Fast service for a busy Sat night. Easy access to interstate. This will def be my restaurant of choice when visiting N Columbus.
Our waitress was fantastic! She explained the gluten free menu options very well. She even offered to bring me some fresh fruit to munch on. No other restaurant has ever done that for me; usually I have to just sit there watching the rest of the table snack on bread. I had the clam pasta, with gluten free penne, and it was very good. We will definitely be going back!
This is the place for GF pasta! Way better than olive garden! It doesn't taste GF which is huge with me. My first visit I had the chicken carbonara penne pasta, excellent! Second time I had their crispy potato pizza, excellent also!
