It was our first night in Chicago and my mom and I are gluten free. The gluten free menu is not big but we got the 12" gluten free pizza with artichokes, mushrooms, and red onion. The 12" is different than the 8" because the 12" is a thin crispy crust while the 8" is a thick pan crust. I loved the thin crust and all the toppings were fresh you could tell. And it was big enough to feed one to two more people we only ate half of it and took the other half home!
I had the gluten free pasta and it was sub par. I got a plate full of oil and bread with my gluten free pasta dinner. I asked was the bread GF and they said no but it was included with the meal. I had wanted pizza but they could not put GF chicken on the pizza. There are not many GF options, very limited choices.
No visit to the Windy city would be complete without pizza! at marcello's, the gluten-free pies can be made with a thin crust or as a personal-pan pizza for more of a take on that thick, chicago-style deep dish. there are a wide variety of toppings available, plus gluten-free redbridge beer. Whatever you choose, save room for hot cinnamon apple, very berry or brownie topped gluten-free dessert pizza.
Overall ok. Items to note; restaurant is actually called Father & Son at the Milwaukee street location, not Marcello's. Gluten free items are listed right on the main menu and the staff appeared familiar with GF needs. Service was SLOW and some items ordered were forgotten but they were nice overall. They have GF pasta and pizza. We ordered the GF pasta and found it a bit bland but marinara made it much better. Our gluten eaters had their regular pizza which was ok- not great.
Great Pizza! We tried the flat GF breadsticks, ask for pizza dipping sauce and it’s perfect! Called in advance and spoke with the manager, had a great talk. Would recommend to gather with a few couples out for drinks and dinner!
Been eating here for many years, Abbe's gluten free pan pizza is my family's pizza night. Gluten free pizzas are square rather than round, delicious crust. Also have many other gluten free options on their menu. A staple to order pizza from
My son really enjoyed the GF pizza. Without us asking, they also brought him the GF version of the appetizer breadsticks everyone else was enjoying. Clearly they're sensitive to the needs of Celiacs. As other reviewers have noted, their menu has numerous GF options clearly marked.
We have been here before the first experience was exceptional we were just back service was slow they were not very polite and a pizza was burnt very disappointed will probably not return due to this bad experience we also had non gluten free potatoes and they were dry dry dry and it took so long to bring up food and to get a check and they were not busy very upset
