This place is 100% gluten-free and a must for anyone with celiac disease. I never go to the Ferry Building without a stop at Mariposa. Everything is delicious, especially the croissants and bear claws. Go early in the day, many favorites are sold out by early afternoon.
While it's completely gluten free, the people working at the ferry building location don't seem to care. Business is slow at this location because the staff. And of course when you mention it your food comes out worse. Skip this location and go to the one in Berkeley/Oakland they're more respectful there
Fantastic gluten free selection of both sweet and savoury goodies. We ate quiche Lorraine muffins, choc chip cookies, turkey sandwich, whoopie pies, cup cakes and pain au chocolat. We’d be here every day if we lived here. Totally amazing. Wish there were more like this!!
I bought baguette to have with our Italian food tonight. After I took a sample bite I’ve now eaten half the loaf and dinner is still 3 hours away. Best gluten free bread I’ve ever had and I’ve been diagnosed with Celiac for 8 years. It reminds me of what I remember “real” bread tasting like. I almost cried tears of joy. Visiting from out of town but will hopefully stop by again to stock up before I leave!
Although small, the breakfast sandwich was delicious as was the veggie pocket that I came back for at lunch time. Bought a loaf of bread to take home along with a cinnamon roll and croissant. Come early as they sell out of almost everything even by 11 am!
Mariposa is located in the Ferry building near the Financial District and offers up a smorgasbord of breakfast pastries and sandwiches. Everything is utterly delicious. If you are looking for a cup of coffee to go with your pastry, then Blue Bottle is a few stalls down.
I can’t stop thinking about the croissant I got there. It has been 10 years since I’ve had a croissant and it was divine! I also had a pan au chocolate, chocolate cupcake and a cinnamon roll. (Yes I went a little crazy). I cannot recommend enough. Dedicated GF facility. They also ship their goods-I’m in trouble!
Great food! Incompetent staff. Waited 25 minutes for a breakfast sandwich with only 4 people waiting for orders. Had two people request refunds because of the terrible service. After trying to figure out went wrong I was just told they had a small kitchen. Made no sense, considering I ordered the exact same thing 15 minutes after my wife and received it already. Management needs to have a meeting with staff.
This is the best place in the area for gluten-free food. Their dinner rolls, sandwich rolls, croissants and veggie pockets are absolutely to die for. So good. The main bakery in Oakland has more selection, but this place has a lot. The cheesecake and cinnamon rolls are my favorite sweets.
I'm a celiac allergic to dairy. I'm all about the savory bready items. Don't let looks fool you with some of the items. The pretzel (looks pathetic at sight) is 100% authentic tasting. My non gluten free friends actually bought after tasting mine. Bagels, Foccacia, Baguettes available in addition to the cakes, brownies and cookies.
Cute GF shop with a few vegan options. I expected more of a bakery with some cafe seating, but that wasn’t the case. It was fine because they are located in the market ferry bldg and there is plenty of seating in the back by the bay. I got the mocha cupcake (I was debating btwn that flavor & chocolate), but the lady there recommended the mocha and I know why. It’s topped with a chocolate covered nut. The frosting is delicious and not too sweet. The cake was moist and also not overly sweet. I also purchase a pretzel, tart and muffin. I’ll update this once I’ve tried them.
Gf yum yum yum..... Muffins delicious.... Veggie pocket a great lunch option... Hubby- not gf but loved the cinnamon bun...... so greatfull to be able to order and not worry about cross contamination.....ordered their pizza crusts by mail.in the past.... Very good as well.
I can’t even describe how good this place is. Their gluten free bread is the very best I’ve ever had.. and it is corn and oat free too! I got the steak sandwich today and it was delicious. I felt very safe as all ingredients are clearly listed and they are a dedicated GF faculty! What a find!!!
Glad to have found a GF bakery, and I appreciate their efforts, but the bear claw was dense and lacked flavor, and we were bummed that the almond cookie was more like a coconut macaroon. The vegetable pie was good. Kitchen was already closed when we arrived so maybe that has better options, and maybe the other locations are better, but this was just ok.
The fact that this is an entirely gluten-free bakery deserves five stars overall in my mind, but here's a breakdown of what I got: Baguette: great taste and AMAZING texture when toasted, I forgot how much I missed this. 5/5 Dark chocolate cookies: very moist and chocolatey, which is good, but they do have a bit of a noticeable "gluten-free" taste; I'm not quite sure how to describe it. 3.5/5 Banana chocolate muffin: very prominent banana flavor, which I personally like. It was a bit crumbly and fell apart easily, but it tasted good. 4.5/5 It's also worth noting that the kitchen was closed when I got there (5:30, half an hour before closing), so I couldn't order anything from the menu. It's reasonable, but I would have appreciated some warning of that on the website.
It took me just a bit to find Mariposa among all the stalls in the hall. It’s always exciting to find good things that are safe to eat especially when surrounded by things you can’t. I did find it difficult to find a place to sit. The common table area was quite dirty and full of crumbs. I ended up pulling a chair away from the tables and trying to juggle my treats.
