Had lunch here 12/2023 and they had gluten free bread for sandwiches.

— Excellent

The food was delicious! The owner/cook was VERY knowledgeable about her menu and my chance of eating safely. I had the tavern burger with potato chips- that are fried first when they change the oil in the fryer. My BFs steak was excellent as well. The creamy chicken and rice soup was fantastic and uses corn starch as a thickener. I feel that the other recent ratings of low safety are a bit unfair.

We arrived and at the bottom of the steps it has their menu and lists gluten free all over their chalkboards. I went up to ask, they told me just about everything could be made gluten free. It made me a little nervous. But there wasn't much else around that was open for lunch. I descided I would get a salad. That was probably the safest option. I asked at the table about the grilled chicken. She told me that the microwave was only for meat and was gluten free. Ummm microwave. Ok.... the salad was just nuts, craisins, cucumber. I got the vinegrette, figured that was the safest. I didn't get sick, but i didn't feel comfortable there at all. I wouldn't go back.

From the person taking our order to the person bringing out our food, the staff was very aware of gluten free options and cross contamination. The food was great and very well priced. I rarely feel at ease eating out anymore however this restaurant allowed me to enjoy a meal I did not personally make. Great experience!

The owner has multiple allergies and is gluten free. As soon as I asked about gluten free options, the server had the owner come over and walk me through the menu. The only breaded (unsafe) options come already breaded so there’s minimal risk of cross contamination-this does mean the fryer isn’t safe, so fries aren’t an option. About 90% of the menu is already gluten free or can be made gluten free. This was a great, safe option for our first night in town!

Fabulous food and the owner is gluten-free. Almost everything is homemade and our group of 3 celiacs enjoyed our dinner and did not have any symptoms of cross contamination. Definitely recommend!

The owners are very knowledgeable about celiac disease and allergies. We had the chili Mac, the Ruben, the BLT and the banana cake. Didn’t get sick, will definitely be back

Good gf options and very knowledgeable! Galena as a town I felt had minimal safe gf options. So, actually ate here two nights in a row! One night I had the gf Mac and cheese, and the banana dessert. Both were delicious! The next night a chicken sandwich and a baked potato.

Oh so wonderful to have safe, delicious food at a great price. Staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. We went two days in a row and were already treated like family. Food is fresh and excellent. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

I'm not celiac but my girlfriend is. Staff were super knowledgeable and very willing to accommodate. I ordered GF as well and it was fantastic. Not fantastic for GF, just plain fantastic.

Staff is super knowledgeable about celiac. Fries in shared fryer, but homemade chips are ok & delicious. Chili was wonderful as was the burger & mac & cheese. Highly recommend. We will be back!

We happened upon this place looking for Gluten Free for our daughter with Celiac Disease. It was not a disappointing choice! Delicious food- delicious food- delicious food! And, the servers are amazing! Very impressed & will be back again!!!

This is the best gluten free restaurant I have ever visited, and the food was wonderful. The 2 sisters who run it are gluten free, so they know what they are doing. I had the pasta with chicken, and a salad with crackers. It was perfect!

Knowledgeable staff, dedicated fryer, so many options! The questions I normally have were answered before I had to ask. The staff was kind and aware. Clarified when items were brought to the table what was gf and what was not. Excellent experience. One of my best gluten free experiences eating out.

My husband and I have been here several times now and the food is always excellent. I have a lot of gf options and the owner went through the whole menu with me to let me know what was gf, what could be made gf and what to avoid. Friendly service, one of my favorite places to go!

high marks for good knowledge of gluten free. the macaroni and cheese was okay. It would be better with some real cheese on it, some grated cheddar, a touch of asiago, a dash of parmesan. I will be back to try other menu items.

Wonderful food and very knowledgable staff! The Mac and Cheese was to die for!

My husband was just diagnosed celiac 3 months ago so it has been a real adjustment for us with his new diet, especially since I am allergic to rice. We tried The Market House on a recent road trip and were so impressed. They truly care and take gluten free very seriously. There were great menu options for my husband and it was very reasonably priced. This is definitely one of our new favorite places to eat. We can't wait to go back.

The ladies here were very knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. They have a large variety of options including gluten free gravy, mac n cheese & desserts that are all made in house. They also serve gf beer.

The ladies / owners were so helpful and knowledgeable! The restaurant should really focus more on advertising how well they understand and manage gluten free guests. We stumbled upon it and so glad we did! If I am ever in Galena again I am headed back to the Market House for sure. Thanks from the GF community!

Very knowledgeable staff. Very friendly and understanding. I have been there twice and have never been given the "Do you NEED gluten free or are you part of the diet fad" to them gluten free is gluten free end of story. Prices are very reasonable too.
