Definitely gluten free friendly, with both pizza and pasta offerings. When the food was brought out, there was no mention of gluten free so I had to flag someone down to double check! I was told “the penne is always gluten free” so apparently that’s what to watch for. No gluten free bread like others mentioned, but that’s okay.

I ordered the seared ahi with risotto which was indicated as GF on the menu. I mentioned to the waitress that I was celiac and she told me she would advise the kitchen so that they would be extra careful with cross contamination. Before eating my entree I tested my food with the Nima sensor. The first test came back with "gluten found" so I tested again to make sure that this was not an error. The second test came back with "gluten found". I advised the waitress of the situation and she apologized and checked with the chef. The waitress came back and told me that that the chef explained that is normal that this can happen because they manipulate a lot of flour and bread in the kitchen so that contamination can occur. If you are celiac like me, be advised that you are taking risks if you eat at this restaurant.

Had a wonderful GF meal. The waitress was extremely helpful and aware of Celiac, even told me they use the same pots and don’t have separate ones for the pasta, so I opted out of that. We started with a special appetizer: Prosciutto, grilled peaches, buffalo mozzarella over arugula and drizzled with balsamic. Then some amazing GF bread, toasted with a light garlic salt, which I dipped in olive oil. My main dish was a wonderful monchong fish with some risotto and mushrooms. We got lucky to be there on a Wednesday, which is 50% off a bottle of wine night, so we had an amazing Tuscan Chianti Classico, which was also GF 😉🍷. One of my new favorite restaurants in Wailea!!!

EAT HERE! We had gf penne in the pappardelle dish and the saltimbocca gluten free. Best dinner I had in 2 weeks on Maui and best dinner I've had in a long time Italian-wise. Was skeptical about gf bread basket for $5, but it was admittedly the best gf bread I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Everything was incredibly flavorful and they were super knowledgeable (and menu well marked for GF or GFonRequest).

Nice, but waiter was rude and although they make pasta in house they have boxed GF pasta.

Very knowledgable staff. They told us they make their gluten free pasta in fresh water therefore it would take a bit longer. Tons of options. Food was very good. Highly recommend.

Expensive tourist pricing but the restaurant was very nice and super accommodating to my son's Celiac needs. As an Italian restaurant there were pizza, pasta, fish and meat options. The pasta - Pene, cooked in separate water - wasn't the best noodle (brown rice) but the sauce was flavorful. The personal pizza was baked and prepared safely and was decent.

Our server, Michael, was gluten intolerant and super supportive and friendly. Definitely worth supporting Matteo's Osteria IMO. I love that they list GF options on the menu and even advertise that they serve GF options.

Terrific Italian food served by a knowledgeable staff. GF items are noted on the menu. My non-GF husband and I both had the fish of the day (swordfish) served on a bed of risotto. Yummy! Definitely worth a return visit.
