We went here to get a quick bite for my son and daughter (both Celiac) but did not have a very good experience. My wife ran inside and ordered two relatively easy gluten-free meals (a baked potato and a grilled cheese sandwich) to go.
The sandwich had an unwrapped chocolate chip cookie laying inside the container with the sandwich. Luckily, my wife checked it before we left and had them remake it. Unfortunately, they didn't bother to toast the new sandwich so my daughter had two slices of Udi's bread with a slice of cheese.
My son's potato was slightly better, but the potato had some stray chips inside of its container. Since his meal didn't come with chips, it was a bit concerning where they came from and what other contamination was present.
They have the gluten-free options, and I imagine if you stayed on top of them or got the right person to serve you then you may do ok (particularly if you are not Celiac), but overall it caused enough concern that we most likely will not return.
This place is absolutely wonderful! As embarrassing it is even you have a disease your apprehensive to go into establishments. The young man that took my order was understandable and told the crew we have a gluten allergy immediately. The food was absolutely delicious abs beard was gluten free.
I just landed after flying into Tulsa on a Monday night, it was after 9 PM, and few places were open. I put an order in on their app, sandwich on gluten free bread, side salad, and drink. I arrived about 15 minutes before close, and it was just coming out of the kitchen. There were a large number of orders coming from the kitchen, and they were busy for a Monday night near closing time. My order was spot-on, and I’ve never had a problem with McAlister’s. Every store I’ve been to (and I travel a lot) seems to have consistent training and procedures. Use the app. It lists everything that goes onto each sandwich, and you can customize every detail, not just gluten free bread.
