I cannot say enough great things about this place. The pizza is really good! They even have their pizza toppings separated by what they can confirm hasn't been cross-contaminated. The chef came out to chat with me for a bit and just went out of their way to accommodate me and make sure that what I ate was safe.
Super knowledgeable staff. Very aware of CC. Never had a problem with pizza and they can tweak other menu items to be GF.
Good pizza--dedicated prep area. Salads.
I was so excited about this place! Their menu stated clearly how careful they are to not cross-contaminate....the gf pizza was really good! BUT...10 min later I started my normal 60 min of torture. Ending up in the bathroom at the movie theatre for 45 min. I hate to say it, but I cannot recommend mellow mushroom as a GF restaurant, esp if you are celiac &/or react negatively to gluten
On the one hand, they will serve you GF pizza for the same price. On the other hand, the gf options don't include vegetarian protein, and vegan cheese costs extra. And while they will substitute gf crust for the pita on the hummus, they charge $7 extra for it and didn't tell us in advance.
Staff is knowledgeable about cross contamination and will accommodate if you let them know you are Celiac. The GF pizza is one of the best tasting. On the pricey side, but worth it. The GF pizza takes longer to cook, so we always order it with our drinks.
Placed an order ahead of time for a party and asked them to not cook the order until it was time for pick up. Picked up cold pizza. Second time, they made an error and made a non-gf crust so they had to cook a second time. Tried to charge me for both pizzas, even the one we didn't order.
Did a very good job with trying to avoid cc. Pizza was pretty good. I'm very sensitive and had no issues
The best GF pizza in town - mighty meaty is delicious!
The pizza I got was pretty good, probably one of the best I've had. The price is pretty high so I most likely wont return. $25 is too much for a pizza anywhere!
Gluten free pizza. Very aware. Cooks on a separate stone. Has GF beer and cider
Pizza was really good...enough to split for sure! Next time I will ask for 1/2 the amount of cheese to cut back on calories...it had plenty!
Amazing staff and a menu with gluten free specified ingredients! Pizza is available in a size small gluten free crust and they have four specialty pizzas that can be made gluten free, they also have a list of specific toppings that are gluten free Incase you would rather build your own. If you let them know it is gluten/celiac they will prepare the food in a designated safe area with safety procedures. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly/helpful with all of your questions. They also offer vegan/ vegetarian options as well.
Let me start by saying I have a Mellow Mushroom near my home, so I had an idea of what to expect. However, our server must have had an off night. I ordered a gluten and dairy free pizza with 3 toppings. It seemed to take a little longer than usual so I was really disappointed when my pizza came and there was regular cheese on it. Since I am lactose intolerant, eating cheese tends to flare my fibro. So i asked for it to be remade and ordered a salad in the meantime. When the next pizza came out it only had two of my three toppings on it. At that time, the manager came out and apologized and said he would take the pizza and salad off of our bill. Well when it was time to go, the server brought us our bill for the full amount. We explained what the manager had said, so he went to see. Then we asked for a container for my salad, pizza, and drink to go. He only brought pizza box. After a few more tries we were good. I gave it four stars because the manager comped the pizza and salad and having eaten at the local establishment, I knew this was not the norm.
They make their own pizza crust. Pizza was really good and finally, NOT served in a tin foil. They make their gf crust on a big plastic tray and place it in a pan to cook. The food was good. I got the he Greek salad (gf), husband and daughter got (gf) pizzas. Staff was knowledgeable, and accommodating- but it’s pizza... any place they are throwing dough there can be contamination. We didn’t get sick, but I always count that as lucky in a pizza place
Our pizza was cold, the crust was tough and our gluten free pizzas were forgotten about. Twice. Once the GF pizzas with vegan cheese arrived, they were burnt. The only reason we are giving 3 stars is because our waiter was mortified with the number of errors coming out of the kitchen.
Amazing gluten free pizza! I go here all the time definitely recommend it!
The pizza was so good. I was completely happy.
Ordered 2 GF pizzas, 1 extra cheese, 1 buffalo chicken specialty pizza, the bill was over $30! Extremely over priced for the size of the pizza. Our buffalo pizza was missing the buffalo sauce and the ranch swirl! We were extremely disappointed. We won’t be returning. I have Celiac and did not get sick, so there’s a plus...
The food not causing a reaction is the only reason for more than 1 star. We came with family that spoke highly of Mellow Mushroom in South Carolina. What a disappointment!!!! We waited an hour for our food to start arriving. And then it took 30 minutes for all the food to arrive at the table each individual person’s separately. And the child’s meal was the VERY last to arrive and we had to ask for her something to eat while we waited. This was NOT the waitress’s fault as we watched her trying. This was an issue of the kitchen not managing their food delivery correctly.
Bland pizza with tough crust. My family and I ate here on a trip and 3 of us have Celiac disease. No one got sick but, the food was less than satisfying. They do have a separate prep area for gluten free.
The only gluten free option was pizza. There was a variety of toppings but, the crust was bland and nearly burnt. On the bright side, none of us got sick, 3 of us have Celiac disease. Not worth a second trip in my opinion. However, they do have a separate prep area for gluten free.
Delicious pizza with freshly made toppings. Toppings were plentiful I don’t think i have ever had pizza with this many toppings. The gluten free crust was good pretty crunchy. Husband had a regular pizza too and he said it was the best ever We both had the House Pizza for both the gluten free and regular it was basically a supreme pizza
We had an amazing waiter who was very knowledgeable with celiacs and went over how they prepare their food to ensure that our food was not contaminated by gluten products in the restaurant. He was so informative. Plus most of their pies can be made gluten free. We really enjoyed our second meal out after being diagnosed.
Underwhelming food. They’ve gone down hill since opening. The only options are pizza. How do you put gluten in a salad? A million kinds of beer but not a single gf one? The pizza had no flavor and was drowning in grease. We like locations in other cities but this one failed to impress. My non cd daughter had a calzone she couldn’t even swallow she said it tasted nasty.
The waiter did not know much about gluten free. He stated follow what the menu has listed. I ordered gluten free pizza with vegetables. When he brought it to the table, it was on a tray with 3 other pizzas. All of the pizza pans where touching. Then when he put the pizza down his thumb was on the pizza.
My fiancé and I have eaten here many times. I have never left sick, or been ill afterwards! They use Follow Your Heart vegan mozzarella and the gluten free crust isn’t bad! The service can be slower, so maybe wait til next time if you are in a hurry :)
My wife has Celiac, so we’re very careful when dining out. She’s never gotten sick from their pizza, but the quality of the pizza was miserable. There were several gaps where there were simply no ingredients on the pie; no sauce, no cheese...nothing. And this was the re-make of the 1st pizza that was badly undercooked. They are being out-competed by Your Pie at the moment.
Very Pleased. Food prep in separate area. Crust was crunchy not soggy!
Decided to grab pizzas on to take back to our hotel. I verified they do cook GF pizzas in a completely separate oven in the back (which is far away from the rest of the items and not even in the same room). I asked the person taking the order to make sure mine was placed separately from the rest of the order (non GF). When I went to pick everything up, she handed me a stack of boxes and my GF one was in the middle completely covered in the crumbs from the pizzas above it (plus it wasn’t made with what I ordered). Asked to have it remade. The manager was very nice and apologized profusely, even refunded me.
